    Here's an update for you Austin! On Wednesday January 4th, 2023 DJI released new firmware version 02.00.72.87 for the DJI Mic. Here are the new features and notes.
    1. Added auto power off feature for receiver. The receiver will power off automatically if disconnected from transmitter for more than 30 minutes.
    2. Added LED off option for transmitter. Go to TX Settings > LED Brightness > Off to turn off the transmitter LED and reduce the light affect during recording.
    3. Fixed issue: transmitter audio data was occasionally lost when recording for a long time.
    Notes: When the firmware is updated, the settings of DJI Mic will be restored to default. If the firmware fails to update, restart the transmitter and receiver and try again. Contact DJI Support if the firmware update fails again.

    I recently bought a Rode wireless GO II and it immediately began having issues, the biggest one being the receiver was not powering off. I returned it the following day and purchased the DJI mic and I have not regretted one bit. DJI made a really amazing product (slight room for improvement as shown in this video) but I’m more than happy with it. Highly recommend to anyone on the fence.

    Even though replacement parts aren't listed, they can be purchased directly from DJI support.
    As for the zippered pouch, the pre-production units did come with them and that zippered pouch was designed initially to be the storage bag however from user feedback, more actually preferred the drawstring pouch as the entire case can fit into in it along with the soft parts (wires, dead cats, etc...) They wanted a simple pouch that could hold everything instead of a separate small pouch for the wires and the case would then need to stored separatly. So in the end, we decided to go with one large drawstring pouch with a divider to hold the case on one side and all the soft parts on the other.
    The yellowish paper for the instruction pamphlets were specially chosen to provide a more premium appearance rather than an off white or even pure white paper.

    • @AustinGreeneExplores
      @AustinGreeneExplores  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can't tell if this is a joke, or a sincere reply, so I'll assume the latter. I suppose I am firmly in the group that would prefer a zippered pouch as I've already had small items like the dead-cats fall out of the drawstring bag as it bounces around in my backpack. Personally, I don't see any argument for yellowed paper being more "premium". Yellowing instruction manuals are pretty synonymous with old items that have been sitting on a shelf or improperly stored. Neither of those are the case here, of course, but I just don't get the "premium" concept. Use a heavyweight paper, not a discolored one, maybe?
      Either way, an excellent product overall, and if you helped at all in making it I applaud you!

    The one thing that would be a HUGE improvement is for the lav mic to actually screw onto the transmitter.

    I whole heartedly agree with your first and last reasons for the cons of this mic. I am so disappointed with the flimsy cold shoe adapter and my second though was…people are gonna lose these adapters!!! However, I have the Rode cables that allows me to use the USB-C cables as replacement parts for the adapter should anyone ever need a replacement and DJI don’t have replacement parts.
    I should make a video about it. Oh, and keep up the honest reviews. Many companies stopped sending me stuff to review because they can’t handle my honesty. Interestingly, I told them that I will be thorough and will bring up any major faults.
    I have both the Wireless Go ii and just got DJI Mic today. So far, DJI has the edge because they studied the competition really well. The biggest drawback for me with Rode is having to put forth more money for magnets and cables to attach to different devices. Also, the charging cables to charge all three units is such a hassle. Great company with amazing products and a phenomenal app system, but just too many hassles. I’m sure Rode will adapt to what DJI did with their mics and redesign their Rode Wireless Go iii. 👍😂

    I got mine in late May after waiting 5 months for it. It is brilliantly designed but in the real world it has flaws. I can be 10 metres away from the transmitter and the record signal stops on the receiver screen but thankfully I can still see it is recording at the transmitter. It's like the communication drops out at times and while it is still functioning at the transmitter the receiver information has dropped out. The slide up menu was great too until you are in the real world.

    I'll be purchasing one of these. But, before I do, I have a question that (at least, as far as I'm aware) no TH-camrs have covered...and, since you mentioned using it with a GoPro, as well as having mentioned the Media Mod, I'm guessing (and hoping) your have the 'correct' answer.
    I have a GoPro 8 Black, which, if my memory is serving me correctly (I don't have it with me right now (the GoPro, not the 'memory'...tho, I sometimes question that...lol), has a USB-C port. My original plan (for recording external audio directly to the video) was to order the DJI MIC, and the GoPro Media Mod for GoPro 8 (ie. plugging the DJI MIC into the Media Mod via the 3.5mm connecting cable). This is because I'm unaware as to whether, or not, external audio can "enter" the video via the USB-C port. So, here's my question:
    If using the DJI MIC to record external audio, and adding that audio directly to the video recorded by the GoPro 8 Black, does the Media Mod NEED to be used (ie. external audio being added to the GoPro's recorded video MUST 'enter' the GoPro via the Media Mod's 3.5mm audio jack)...or, can the external audio be added to the GoPro's recorded video by plugging the DJI MIC directly into the GoPro 8 Black using the USB-C adapter?

    As a golf TH-cam reviewer and vlogger my question maybe something you can’t answer, but here we go….
    I will be filming a lot of 4 person vlogs on the channel. So, if I bought two of these systems, could I record directly into the camera with a splitter cable without the frequencies clashing, or pull you say it’s safer to record everything internally into the DJI receiver and then edit and sync in post?
    I’ve yet to find a system affordable that can do 4 person audio into one receiver

    • @AustinGreeneExplores
      @AustinGreeneExplores  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for subscribing and for the kind words. I would always advocate for internal recording all the time, it really doesn't hurt battery life in a big way. Greg here from Australia 🇦🇺 From watching this video it seems that this DJI Wireless kit does work with the go pro hero 10! Can you just confirm that for me? DJI told me it won't, so I'm concerned about buying it. Or maybe their cust service people are clueless It will be definitely a light vlogging set up if it does.

    We bought ours too, and the first thing my wife noticed was the drawstring pouch and not the zippered pouch we saw in the influencer videos.
    I also own the Rode Wireless Go II and the Saramonic Blink 500 2, and trust me: the downsides of the DJI are *NOTHING* compared to the downsides of those two alternatives. 🙂 I'm just glad competition is forcing companies to improve their offerings.

      What downsides have you faced with the Rode Wireless Go II?

    • @AustinGreeneExplores
      @AustinGreeneExplores  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Udrys999 Just to name a few from my own experience: 1) No gain adjustment on individual transmitters, 2) you pay $20 extra per cable to use it with your laptop/phone as a mic-in, 3) tends to clip very easily, 4) must be charged individually or you buy a 3-way charging cable, 5) requires RODE software to download files into a laptop or phone.

    • @Udrys999
      @Udrys999 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AustinGreeneExplores #4 There's actually a separate 50$ charging case for the Wireless Go II.
      I was already thinking to buy the DJI Mic, but then saw a BH review, that stated that the transmitter can't use a 3.5mm cable with a lock, therefore the lav can detach very easily; that review also stated that the noise floor is high specifically when using a lav mic, the noise floor is OK via the inbuilt microphone.
      Severe downsides, sadly. Thought maybe I don't know everything about the Wireless GO II drawbacks, that can overweight the DJI Mic.

    • @AustinGreeneExplores
      @AustinGreeneExplores  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Udrys999 I don't see why I'd buy a $50 charging case to solve one issue when the extra $30 for the DJI Mic solves most of them. Personally I've had zero issues with noise floor on my lavs. The RODE lav does not work well on the DJI Mic and many of the reviews out there seem to use that one without testing others. I've never had a lav detach, and I regularly go on long hikes with a lav attached. Personally, I would always pick the DJI based on my past experiences with the Wireless Go II. Ask yourself what happens more often: A) two people speaking at different volumes, or B) a lav detaching from a transmitter. For me the answer was A, and having independent transmitter gain solved that issue.

    This is a really great review. I just got mine today and have been playing eight the gain settings to find a sweet spot. I wasn’t that impressed with the audio straight out of the mic but I threw a couple of EQ settings on and it sounded great (think it applied a little too much low end to my voice).
    Also- and this is a tip from a complete newbie to such things - clip this near your shirt top and point it near your face, and you WILL get some very horrible swallowing sounds that’ll need editing out. The opposite of ASMR!

    • @AustinGreeneExplores
      @AustinGreeneExplores  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahaha on those swallowing sounds - been there!
