NC have it real easy with situational awareness. You never have to keep track of your allies because you know every single one of them has their cross hairs centered on the back of your head.

It’s always hilarious that people have accused me of cheating cuz I managed to find them crouched in a corner as a stalker cuz they kept spamming the spot button. The directional sound in this game is pretty good and if you know what to listen for, you can track people down fairly easy.

Stalker spotting is fun though. I like to get into a weird position and just make noise for a bit, then be quiet, reposition and reapeat. It dosn't accomplish anything but it annoys the hell out of people. Bonus points if claymores are involved.

Sound is so vital in this game that I made a bunch of videos titled "Sound Is Vital". Pay attention to what you hear- I've managed to track down a Stalker Infiltrator by hearing him reload his Commissioner. Cloak sounds, gun sounds, callout sounds, even footsteps have helped me win fights I would have lost otherwise.

Awareness is really underestimated. Yesterday my friends just pulled an armor column to support both our Colossus and of a friendly outfit, I end up finding two enemies lighting behind us and not even far away, and since I lack a mic I had to die and write on the text chat "ENEMY BEHIND US" for them to react. Planning is important, yes, but if your butt is out of the warpgate, make sure for someone to stay alert of the surroundings

After capturing a base, lots of explosions and all that we were about to depart to the next base, but then I heard a very low cloaking noice further away in the huge hangar building for the only capture point (A). I scouted the building from outside by checking through sides of the doors and figured he had stalker cloak. Therefore I thought that I was at a disadvantage of being ambushed if I advanced into the building without knowing at very least which corner he was around. So I waited outside of the building until everyone else had left, and I used the big map to control-check that the impostor remained in the base (that "1-12 enemies..." etc feature). A few more minutes went by and then I heard him uncloaking to attempt to back-cap the base and was he was quickly dealt with.
I love planetside 2 for these moments. It's not always about the huge action, but the smaller duties like these that makes it so much more!
P.S. Surely it could've been done more effectively. Thinking back, I probably could just have gone head on against an opponent only having a sidearm and knife, but hey, I am still learning!

Finally someone gets it! I swear one of the most annoying things is hearing some try hard gloat about the kill streak he just went on, as if it means he's a god at the game. In reality, most of those situations are caused by the enemy team just being absolutely shit at the game, to the point that they might as well be bots. And why tf would anyone feel proud for getting a ton of kills against bots when you got no one really challenging ya?...

Situational awareness for NC: Everything because allies will be half your deaths.
Also yeah, cloaking noises was the first thing I focused on since each faction has their own sounds.

Best advice I have gotten in all of these videos from these great guys was; Disengage.. then reengage on your terms. Just because someone is shooting at you doesn't mean you automatically have to return fire and engage them. Example from this video 8:50 - 9:24
Guy on roof starts shooting at him.. CAMIKAZE disengages him, shoots another guy below, reloads.. Then reengages the people on the roof..

  • @Squiggles01

Here is a handy tip for when you and your squad are hold up in a building and there are cloakers with powered melee around. Keep an ear open as most of the time they will switch modes and the distinctive noise coming from the weapon will give away their location. It can be quite beneficial to be a little jumpy when these kinds of infiltrators are around. If you make noise to your team, like saying "Cloaker here!!" Or "Cloaker close!!" Will also put your buddies on alert as well. Some times you may come across cloakers who don't have stalker cloak. If you hear them decloak, move towards said sound. If your an infiltrator yourself, you can play counterintelligence and give your friends the info they need to stay alive!

I wish NC would learn something about situational awareness. Most of the time I don't even die because of my lack of it, but my team mates acting like idiots.
Example: 3-4 guys storming a building. OK, I've got at least 2 mates with me, one on the left, one on the right, we can do it. Let's go! Last second one of them stops dead in his track because he shat his pants at the sound of gunfight, the other one decided to chase a butterfly that he just saw on the left. Me, killed one guy, got flanked by another, one team mate vanished completely, the other finally decided to join... by SPRINTING right into an already damaged foe, his gun lowered, gets mowed down in a milisecond. My head hits the desk.
Example 2: Holding a point. OK, I can see one enemy coming, I check my surrounding - we've got each other's backs! Good, I can safely drop the incoming foe. I drop him, and get mowed down by two more that came from the sides, because the team mates that "got my back" had to send a kissy face to their gf/bf/mommy when the other enemies were going in from their direction. Awesome teamwork guys! /facepalm

Situational awareness only comes with time when playing a game.Every fps have different "flows" and really varies from map to map. When it comes to ps2 you get a broader spectrum bc it is a open world. You're have more angles and distance. I've been playing ps2 for over 5yrs and I never think of it but that comes with years and years of play. When I play with friends who are new to the game they get comfused when I cut to another angle without telling them why.Its important to think outloud when playing with new players so they can train theirself on what to lookout for.

Situational awareness is the only reason I'm at least somewhat effective, and I'm not even that good at it. My aim is abysmal so I lose most duels.
Only thing I can't really figure out how to deal with is snipers. The only answer I have is to not go outside, but that's not an option half the time.

I literally said to myself "I need to get out of tunnelvision in planetside" 30 seconds before seeing this.
Being 80% mana turret, I watch the minimap, I relay intel I see to my squadmates actively engaging, but once I engage, that thing doesn't exist for me until I stop shooting. It's worse in the field because I do the Q spot, engage, they duck around a corner, and I fail to glance to the bottom left to see if they 180'd...
The other day I did a W+M1 MCG, and well, it worked for a moment. I died because I was shoot a guy crouching and not shooting me and not the guy shooting me 'cause I thought my allies were right behind me and engaged him. I was wrong.) I even glanced at him and went "I need to shoot him," but then did nothing other than "haha...mcg go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-*dead*" (I was using extended magazine)

  • @Lauscus
    @Lauscus 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Light assault is going to be the king of catching a group of players with their pants down and easily has the best tools of capitalizing on that. That's a reason why Moukas comes up in that regard.
I think situational awareness plays heavily into MANA turret placement. I just finished getting my aurax in it and I can say the last third of the directive was much faster after I learned the best placement. Implants help a great deal, but finding that juicy chokepoint that minimizes the chance of getting C-4 spammed or sniper angles, you can really lock down an area.
Engineer as a whole relies on situational awareness when it comes to placing just about all of their deployables.

    • @TheRogueWolf
      @TheRogueWolf 4 ปีที่แล้ว

You're not wrong. Angles are crucial when plopping down a turret, especially the AV one, since every sniper in render range is going to be looking to pop your melon. With the AI turret, I make a habit of keeping my head protected from the most likely sniper lane by the turret's shield until I think I'll need to fire.

Bad luck is always a factor of situational awareness, but... you can actively avoid bad luck by processing as much relevant information as possible. For example, learn the habit of continuously glancing the minimap at regular intervals. This will provide you with a constant stream of data and lower the randomness greatly.

Once again, a nice and informative video Cami. One thing I'd like to share is that to practice situational awareness it might actually be best to TURN OFF in-game sound. Once you;ve done that, you are literally FORCED to look at the minimap and identify where the enemy troop concentration is, where sunderers are, etc. Once you've become an expert at that, you can then slowly transition back by turning on the sounds one by one and then you'll notice a vast improvement in your play sessions and a rise in K/D. I can attest to this. It may seem ironic to turn off in-game sounds but once you've "graduated" from this initial step you find yourself dominating the battlefield :)

Example of being situationally aware that I always see my brain dead fellow nc failings to do. When you kill a vehicle but don’t get a player kill assume the driver bailed and is near by. If u don’t see him assume it’s an Infil and get ur flashlight out or spam bullets in the general area u think he is until you get a hitmarker. I often find myself w 3 or 4 people killing a vehicle just for them all to leave while I clean up the driver for a free kill.

As it stands, when I publish the video the comment will transfer across so if you want me to delete it let me know mate. I was made aware of the drama after the video was made and I was considering re-writing the script. But I decided against it only because I figured I was merely using his gameplay as an example (and it’s still a healthy example), and I quite frankly want to steer as clear from that drama as possible despite the reference. Consider the mention in this video a comment on the gameplay, and not on the individual.

@@CAMIKAZE78 Yeah understood man! I've made the comment incase you haven't heard about his changes and I think people will see your general reference as relevant to PS2. I don't mind the comment going live but honestly it was a background comment so you can take it down. Take care and hype for next update!

You gotta get in a zen state and maintain your information input while you are doing other things otherwise you'll get surprised or you'll miss clues the game gives you
Then put advanced tactics and expience on top of that as well as knowledge of Angeles/corridors and shortcuts
Man new players are f*ed, I'm happy that they bring in new base types and locked some bases to change up the common places you fight at. That way we can all learn at the same time

The only time I enjoy this game is when I manage to get into a huge group of enemies, usually near a sundy, and kill 5-10 people. It's also dangerous because this group could be shot up by your own teammates, which is what ends killstreaks more often than enemies themselves.
Other than that, this game reminds me of my tonsillectomy without anesthesia. It's painful, there's no help from others, and by the end you can only cry and eat yoghurts for a week.

I'll do good with my aim and situational awareness for like 15-20 minutes and then go full murder potato and die 40 times in a row.

1v1 stats are not that important past a certain level. I very frequently kill players from "good" outfits because even though I don't practice aiming 3 hours a day, I know how to engage, disengage and what positions to attack from at each base. Your aim gets better the more you play, but awareness and strategy aren't obvious and most players aren't very good at it.

Too many players are going for kills only and don't mind to get killed nor running out of ammo. It's a legal way to play but not fun to have them on your team.

Im sorry but is this video footage staged?, in all these videos despite playing like how OP is I would have been domed 10+ times, and on that tower..............where is that stupid player that beacon spawns on the top and then has his friends visit and farm us all? I take it this isnt the EU servers? definately wont have that gameplay on there, it would be far too sweatier haha, good video though!!
