    I am a native English speaker and I want to wish good luck to everyone that is taking their exams soon and to those still studying. Remember though that your own language is also interesting and beautiful.

    For anyone who needs some help with the writing exam, I'm going to put a few notes here that were given to me by my teacher.
    Paper 2 (writing) consists out of part 1, an essay and part 2 which offers a choice of three text types out of a possible five (letter, email, proposal, report, review). The whole paper lasts for 90 minutes and each part is worth equal points. You must write at least 260 words. Don't make your essay too long.
    # 10 mins planning
    25 mins writing
    10 mins checking
    # *Read* the exam question and underline *all* the parts you need to answer. *Avoid copying* phrases from the task input.
    # Use appropriate, varied and formal vocabulary, discourse markers and linking words to create a sophisticated register, style, and tone. Use mostly British words. Show off your skills and knowledge.
    # Think about sentence construction. Avoid typical mistakes that are made in your native language! E.g. the garden of the college = the college garden.
    *Part 1* will be an essay on a given topic. A set of notes will be provided and will include three bullet points *Candidates must select two bullet points and base their essay on those points. Do not attempt to discuss more than two.* Candidates will also be asked to explain which of the two points is more important and to give reasons for their opinion. Candidates will be given three short opinions related to the bullet points. They may use these to help develop the essay but this should be done *in their own words*.
    an essay should be * well-organised* , with an *introduction, clear development* and an *appropriate conclusion.*
    *Introduction* : interesting opening and a thesis statement. *Do not* express your opinion *at the beginning* of your essay.
    *Paragraph 2* : Discuss the first bullet point. Point out advantages and disadvantages and use examples.
    *Paragraph 3* : Discuss the second bullet point you have chosen.
    *Paragraph 4: Conclusion. Do give your opinion in the final paragraph.* State your opinion and point out *clearly* which of the two discussed aspects is more important. The must be *no new ideas* in the conclusion.
    Always get to the point. Look at your instruction from time to time and make sure not to deviate from them.

    Hi.
    I’m totally amazed how fluent and sophisticated your language is. The range of lexis and the complexity of advanced structures you’re using in this short video is astonishing. 👍
    Not to mention the pronunciation as well as a clear English accent. I wouldn’t dare say you’re from the Ukraine 🇺🇦 = no native accent at all. I must admit I was listening to your breathtaking utterance with a huge curiosity - just from a methodical as well as an educational perspective - how you will manage to skip an Ukrainian accent. To my amazement, you did it 💪
    BTW. I am Polish and work as an English teacher in Poland and, believe me or not, I do know what I say.
    BTW2. I kept my lips sealed about your useful pieces of advice - they’re gorgeous and I’m speechless...
    All in all, I will definitely recommend this “piece of art” to my advanced students whom I’m preparing for CAE exam.
    Peace ✌️

    You are both diligent and dedicated. It is a joy to watch. Also you are something of a role model.
    Thank you for sharing your files. I found your vocabulary lists very useful.
    I agree with your point that vocabulary acquisition is an important part of the exam. I concur with your view that an additional benefit of the preparation is that it gives you the opportunity to learn new words that you may not otherwise have got acquainted with.
    I am currently toying with the idea of doing the C2 (CPE) in English. I have previously lived in the UK and also studied English literature there. My vocabulary size is approximately 25,000 words. However I noted to my dismay that, alas, that there are still many unknown words to be acquired to get to that higher level. Recent new additions to my list include hodiurnal, nostrum, exultation (not exAltation) , complaisant (not complacent), Untonsured.
    I am reading James Joyce, Hardy, Swift, PG Wodehouse, Zaidie Smith and the Economist and the Guardian to complete that quest. In four months I have increased my lexicon by roughly 10 percent.
    My question to you is, by what percentage do you reckon you increased your vocabulary as a result of your dedicated preparation?

      Hi! Thank you very much for this compliment. Truth be told, I've never been to the US or anywhere abroad for that matter, my accent is the result of listening to a huge amount of content and trying to imitate the sounds I hear. There's also a couple of American TH-cam channels that helped me hone my pronunciation skills.
      Saludos a vos, tambien! Hay tanta gente que me vea desde países hispanohablantes, es increíble :)

    Hello Katerina. I´m from Bazil and i'm taking classes to do the CAE in the next year. I've have already taken the others Cambridge test and have pass with best marks. However as you, at first I though The CAE Was really difficult, but in the end I noticed that it not actually hard, but it has a lot of tricks there. I'm studying at home too, so I thank you so much for your files and the dictionary which it will be handy for me, especially for word formation, because it gives you the word family of the word you a searching for. Thanks a lot!

    Hello, Katerina! Thank you for sharing your experience on the CAE exam. You did very well on this test, and it seems that you really cracked the exam format. Your English is proper. Your speech is very logical and straightforward. Your vocab is rich and versatile. In 2016, I took the CAE test and I achieved Grade B (C1 level). I did not prepare anyhow for this test, except I watched a couple of example speaking tests from this test on TH-cam. My overall score is 193 (Reading /Use of English/ Writing/Listening / Speaking: 175/205/200/ 187/196). So, I barely passed the exam at C1 level. Even though I am at the lower bound of this C1 level, I am happy with my result. Reading section I found the most difficult, perhaps as an unprepared reader I was not ready for the distractions.

      @Katerina.G  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Valeriy! Thanks for sharing your experience, think you did great considering you hadn't had any preparation. I took my time getting ready for the exam. Has the certificate proven to be of use to you in real life?

    • @ValerijShepenkov
      @ValerijShepenkov 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      :) This test certificate I am going to use to apply for studying a university degree. My English skills helped me in real life before. I studied in English my master's degree in mechanical engineering in Stockholm, Sweden and I worked in the oil and gas industry in Norway where the work language was English. I am using English from time to time these days. I never stop learning English and plan to take CAE and CPE in the future to monitor my skills. By the means of taking CAE test I sort of did a SWOT analysis (SWOT stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) of my English. I found out that there is a lot space for improvements. Especially, I did relatively poorly on the reading paper. Your advices on how to crack the reading paper are very to the point. I will try to use those in my CAE /CPE reading skills honing.
