      You can have a look at the examiner's comments, which I've linked in the description. Their marking is the most accurate you can find.

    Hello! Thanks for your useful video. How much should a student be scoring before signing up for the exam? if he or she want to pass....

    • @teacherphill
      @teacherphill  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I guess you should be able to pass your practice exams (i.e. score at least 180 on the Cambridge scale on average). Everything else is really just gambling.
      You can have a look at my video on how to calculate your score for a little bit more information on the scoring system in Cambridge exams as well. th-cam.com/video/ubF8kAZYZww/w-d-xo.html

    Eek! I did my CAE test yesterday and with the speaking portion, the assessor kept writing down time stamps when I spoke, and not for my partner. I watched your video to get an idea of what would happen because I am a native speaker and my partner is not, so that has sent me spiralling. Do you know what it means? Also thank you for the other videos. It helped a lot. I was hoping that the written part would include a review, unfortunately it did not but I wrote a great email using your tips. Thanks again

    • @teacherphill
      @teacherphill  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there. Don't worry about the timestamps. The interlocutor notes them down so they can keep the timing of the exam on track. It has nothing to do with your performance. :)

    Felt like part 3 was treated as a monologue instead of a discussion by the young lady initially. The young man should not have had to interject, at some point she should have asked for his opinion to complete the goal of the task. This is often an issue when people are speaking English, they are so focused on expressing their ideas that they forget that a language is used to achieve communication goals in different contexts, like discussions. I think this test is better than the IELTS because these goals are focused on, whereas I don't believe the IELTS has anything like this happening. Mostly answering questions and giving presentation style responses.

    • @teacherphill
      @teacherphill  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your comment. I think IELTS is mostly for very specific purposes like immigration or higher education. Cambridge exams, on the other hand, cater more towards general language development and are for people who might need to prove their language level for work. Both exams exist for a reason, but I agree with you that the speaking test is very different.

    • @teacherphill
      @teacherphill  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Don't worry too much about the time limit. Simply answer the two questions and speak until the examiner stops you. It's not necessary to finish, but you need to show that you can use the right language to compare the photos, structure your answer well and include good vocabulary. :)
