From my previous experience in studying for the CAE, I found out particularly useful editing flashcards with an application called CRAM. It definitely helped me to get 200 points out of 200 in the use of English section. That strategy made studying idioms, phrasal verbs and vocabulary more challenging and amusing while you are fully aware of your progress. As regards listening, you can always try to test yourself by increasing the speed of the TH-cam clips and the reduce it to check if you were right. Thank you for the video!

After I read that I need to score at least 200/230to pass I’ve been feeling a little tense and uneasy. In February I am to start preparation classes for the proficiency exam but I’m quite afraid of not passing and not fulfilling my dream followed by disappointing my parents. I’ve set my mind to learn, read, watch movies/documentaries and study every spare minute that I have and I hope that until June I’ll be well prepared to sit for the exam and pass with flying colors.
Remember that nothing is impossible and with hard work and perseverance everything is achievable! And satisfaction after achieving your dream is immense! 💪

Thanks for uploading this video; it is extremely helpful and well organized. I'm self-studying for the CPE and I was surprised to hear I'm already doing many of the things you suggest . For the writing part I'm using grammarly premium to correct my texts. It's useful because it also gives you insights, pointing out minor mistakes and how to improve sentences, the percentage of unique and rare words used and it assigns a readability score to the piece. My exam is in two months and I hope to pass it!

Hi! I passed the CAE exam with a C 3 months ago! Now I'm looking for a job in a local council (because it gives me that necessary relaxed mood to enjoy life without being too stressed) and I'm studying to take, sooner or later, a second law degree at university (I already own one in English language and literature) and even though I was uncertain at first because of my idea that the most important thing is showing that you can speak and write a language properly without taking linguistic certification exams!! Hence a very pragmatic way of thinking and acting! But in the end, as I said, I took the C1 just to add something in my CV; it took me 3 months and a half to get ready! Now I'm thinking about taking the Proficiency exam; but not now because I need to take some hard exams at university and because I'm taking the DELE C1 spanish exam next month! I've already purchased some books for it! Apart from exercising on as many sample exams as possible, could you give me some useful advice? Thanks a lot! Oh, and by the way: I'm italian :-)

It's hard to give advice in a few lines on such a vast topic. I'd say, try to use a wide range of vocabulary, linkers, some interesting grammar structures (I have a video on 5 ones), paraphrase in order not to get stuck... If you get to speak with sb in English, that will help you a lot! 😉💪
Thanks!! It took me like 6 weeks working hard, but you need to have the C2 level first. After passing the CAE, it takes about two years, but it depends on how seriously you work on it. I just had 5 classes to prepare my speaking and writing parts. The rest I did on my own. Good luck! Being an English teacher, don’t you think sometimes it makes a little more difficult to internalize new things? I mean, I’m also a teacher, and I often have to simplify my vocabulary in order to make myself understood by most of the students. Even speaking English everyday, I don’t feel like I have lots of opportunities to apply new vocab, sentence structure, phrasal verbs, and idioms in my classes. How do you cope with this?
I see what you mean. I like learning new words and expressions for the sake of it. I write them down in my vocab notebooks. On top of that, it's rewarding when you come across those expressions you've learned when watching movies or reading books. 😃

Hi, any tips for the reading part? I sometimes find veeeery difficult to chose one option or another, because both ideas are in the text! :( The gaps exercice is also really tricky
Hi! I recommend not getting stuck for too long on one question. Start from the easiest part and where you can score lots of points (the last one). The puzzle is the trickiest. You need to find links before and after the gap and make sure that the spare paragraph doesn't fit anywhere. Hope that helps! 💪

Alright, I booked the exam. The Speaking part will be on friday the 26th of november, and the rest the following day. I'm kinda stressing the f-word out... haha. I've had reasonable score so far on mock tests, but the paragraphs gaps exercise is killing me. Needless to say that i'm also going to cry my eyes out when in front of the writing task... englishaula.com is brilliant for exam examples. My students from A2 - C1 have all passed using this site. I simply work on the written and the speaking part of the exams. C2 is a different ballgame!!
I don't take lessons on english anymore because well I just became fluent by watching Netflix... My accent is awesome and I'm really proud of it 😂. The other ones tho? I teach English but what do I need to do to pass the writing? It has like a standard structure you need to memorize

I would recommend finding extra exercises to practise UOE Part 4 and work with the book "Common mistakes at Proficiency and how to avoid them. And then when you do sample tests, write down all the mistakes in your notebook. Hope it helps 😀
I'm planning to take the exam the next year, at least in February 2025. Do you know if the exam will be the same as this year or University of Cambridge will change it? I have this question because they revised the exam in 2002 and in 2013. Hope you could help me and give me an answer. Thanks!
Are you allowed to take notes on the listening exam? They talk rather fast and I often find myself taking notes to grasp the context of what they're saying. Also... I like to write my essays and then revise it so I kind of take notes for it too... Is it bad? Am I allowed to take notes when I do the official exam?

Have you taken the CAE exam? CPE is super challenging and passing it with a C would be already amazing! Don't be too hard on yourself and take plenty of time to prepare it. That's my advice.

Hello Mario! You need to get 200/230. In my case I got 215. The good thing is that you don't need to pass every part. You can compensate. You can look at my scores on my Instagram. Hope that helps! 🙂
Hello! I recommend having a vocab notebook and write down new vocab in different sections (idioms, phrasal verbs, verbs, expressions, etc). I have lots of lessons on vocab. Reading also helps expand vocab. 🤓
Hi! I have lots of exams of past years as well as the students book and the workbook, the thing is that I find some exercises extremely easy whereas I find others too complicated. Why does this happen? How do I know how difficult the exam would be more or less? Because I tell you that in the books some exercises are virtually "first" level and others impossible to pass.
It's true!! I remember that the UOF part 4 was very easy in the exam. Don't worry about that! Just continue doing as many sample exams as you can and write down your mistakes in a notebook!! 📝

Hi, any tips for the reading part? I sometimes find veeeery difficult to chose one option or another, because both ideas are in the text! :( The gaps exercice is also really tricky
Hi! I recommend not getting stuck for too long on one question. Start from the easiest part and where you can score lots of points (the last one). The puzzle is the trickiest. You need to find links before and after the gap and make sure that the spare paragraph doesn't fit anywhere. Hope that helps! 💪

Alright, I booked the exam. The Speaking part will be on friday the 26th of november, and the rest the following day. I'm kinda stressing the f-word out... haha. I've had reasonable score so far on mock tests, but the paragraphs gaps exercise is killing me. Needless to say that i'm also going to cry my eyes out when in front of the writing task... How far do you guys think bribery is accepted ? :D

I would recommend finding extra exercises to practise UOE Part 4 and work with the book "Common mistakes at Proficiency and how to avoid them. And then when you do sample tests, write down all the mistakes in your notebook. Hope it helps 😀

Are you allowed to take notes on the listening exam? They talk rather fast and I often find myself taking notes to grasp the context of what they're saying.

Yes, you are. You can take notes. Later you are given 5 minutes to transfer your answers to the answer sheet. 📝

Have you taken the CAE exam? CPE is super challenging and passing it with a C would be already amazing! Don't be too hard on yourself and take plenty of time to prepare it. That's my advice.

It takes around 2 years if you go to an academy like 3 hours a week. Set yourself a realistic target.

Hello Mario! You need to get 200/230. In my case I got 215. The good thing is that you don't need to pass every part. You can compensate. You can look at my scores on my Instagram. Hope that helps! 🙂

Hello! I recommend having a vocab notebook and write down new vocab in different sections (idioms, phrasal verbs, verbs, expressions, etc). I have lots of lessons on vocab. Reading also helps expand vocab. 🤓

Hi! I have lots of exams of past years as well as the students book and the workbook, the thing is that I find some exercises extremely easy whereas I find others too complicated. Why does this happen? How do I know how difficult the exam would be more or less? Because I tell you that in the books some exercises are virtually "first" level and others impossible to pass.
It's true!! I remember that the UOF part 4 was very easy in the exam. Don't worry about that! Just continue doing as many sample exams as you can and write down your mistakes in a notebook!! 📝
