Duuuuuude fooor reaaaaal!!!! I have been LOOKING AND LOOKING for just this site. If you can believe it I record off my phone and need a mic now. Trent rez style but this time I need a mic that can do vocals and guitar!! Just started watching. Hopefully this answers it. The MV88!!!

Thank you for this review! Is MV88 mix good for recording acoustic instruments, like woodwinds? Also, do you know if this mic has to be placed like a directional mic - very close to the sound source? Or can this mic (attached to an iPhone) be placed 2-3 meters away? Thank you.
I have had the MV 88+..is there something better out there yet?
The MV88+ is a fantastic little mic. I recorded a demo with it for a single I was releasing and the audio was so good that I ended up using it for the final product. I actually prefer it to my Rode NT1A - it’s about a quarter of the size and produces much better sounding audio, with the convenience of it being portable.
Nothing will compare to an SM7B though, the MV7 doesn’t even come close so I wouldn’t market it as an alternative, although it is a good mic.

Can the MV88+ worker for streaming on PC? Gaming?
At 7:19 you state it is a DYNAMIC mic and therefore needs a pre-amp. It is my understanding that dynamic mics DO NOT need 48v phantom power (pre-amplification), but CONDENSER mics do. Just wondered.
Hi Scott, to get the most out of its sound you need a pre-amp. You can use it without one but you end up getting more of the sound of the device you are recording to. I’m a classical guitarist…which one is best for me🤔
I bought an MV88+ for iPhone 15 Here’s my issue. The vid on my camera facing me is lower frame rate and dark looking using motiv app. I upped it to full 4k 60 and I compared my standard vid camera app on my phone and on your motiv app. Unfortunately I can’t get it to look like my camera does on built in camera app. It’s almost like it’s being processed through the Shure motiv app and thus altering or reducing vid quality making it darker and less colorful. Is there a fix?

Which are the best mic to record a choir in a concert (choir) stage or in any other venues?
For a choir, the best thing is to have a stereo matching pair of mics usually in an XY configuration. Out of these mics, the MV88+ would be the best choice because you can put it into a stereo mode.

I just bought the mv88+. Tbh the MV7 is the best tone. It has a smoother tone. I wish I got the MV7 instead. It’s a fuller cleaner tone. The 88 is a bit harsher and less filtered.

When videoing an interview with say 3 people... how far away can the MV88+ be from the speakers.?
Hi Suzanne, we wouldn't recommend using that mic with three people. If you were going to do that, you could get a longer cable and try to “boom” the mic over the three people as close to center and as close to them as you can without getting in the shot. If you don’t care about the mic being in the shot, get it as close as possible.
Hey, so as a vocalist/guitarist, should I choose MV7 or MV88+ ? I'm confused as you didn't add the guitar audio for MV7
Hello! We were focusing more on vocals and broadcasting in this video so we didn't provide a guitar example on the MV7. If your first need is to record guitar, and vocals/podcast are secondary, we would recommend the MV88+ because it has more options for instrumental recording and the voice recording is good. If you are podcasting first, guitar second, try the MV7 -- it should still hold up well to a guitar. Hope this helps!
