    Just wanted to update for everyone! The KC rebuild kit has changed a little. Instead of two different red O rings the compressor housing o ring for the 99.5-03 turbos is black instead of red. Other than that loved the video. Made sure I was doing everything correctly but super thankful you made this for us first timers!

    Hey Joe, another great video. And don't worry about the length, your manner of speech and the way you make the techniques understandable for we non mechanics is very easy to listen to. It IS nice that the beard is back. This series has convinced me to purchase the rebuild kit (unless I win, of course) and maybe even the balanced wheels and shaft, which, I'm guessing, was KC's devious plan in the first place. PS. Pulling my bed wasn't that hard, even though it's a dually with a gooseneck. Did it alone with a "cheapo" Harbor Freight chain hoist. Keep the vids coming ! Please.

      I appreciate it! I have no doubt that was KCs devious plan haha. To be honest though the kit is really good quality. I was impressed. If you do buy it I will say it definitely helps the channel out using the links in the description 👍🏻 either way you go it’s not a bad job at all.

      Nice man! I have seen plenty of videos from powerstrokehelp. All I will say is that they offer value in some ways, but I wouldn't take his word as the bible. In regards to the CCV mod, International designed them to be vented to the atmosphere and they ran all of the 444s that way.

    I put antiseise on exaust mating surfaces, it makes a good gasket for that exaust side and it comes apart nice. The exaust oil cap comes off also. You should clean all th soot out of it, and if its loose going back on just peen 3 sides and tap it back on. Also if you're deleting the pedestal valve, just take the solenoid apart, plug it in, and tuck it away. No need for a 1 watt 270 ohm resistor.

    What is your recommended procedure prep for the first restart of a new/rebuilt turbo? Do you crank the motor with the fuel pump fuse/relay disconnected to get the oil flowing, or ??? Ty

    • @LivingOnWheels
      @LivingOnWheels  ปีที่แล้ว

      I suppose if you wanted to try and prime it you could do a number of things to stop the injectors from firing. Unplug the cps, fuse 22, valve cover harnesses, I’m sure there’s more. I wouldn’t just shut off the fuel because then your injectors are trying to fire dry. I honestly would just fire it up.

  • @diegoholguin8237

    So if you dont want to purchase the turbo you have you can convert your stock turbo to an s300 basically

    • @LivingOnWheels
      @LivingOnWheels  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe there are some design differences on the turbine and compressor housings, but they are rated for similar sized injectors. I don't think the stock turbo would handle going over 25psi as well as KCs turbo.

    • @LivingOnWheels
      @LivingOnWheels  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a few different options. On my stock turbo I did weld it open with a little piece if metal on the actuating lever. You can also buy a different housing plate to replace it. I’ve also seen people remove it entirely and plug the hole with a freeze plug.

      Living On Wheels thank you. Finished and so smooth on my obs. Feel difference over old stock and like many others say with the 1.0 exhaust housing the boost comes in little quicker but I feel a huge difference in 2nd-3rd gear pull above 2k rpm. Feel more potential over stock. Thanks for your help. My dad and I watch your weekend uploads and really appreciate your time!

    With all the mods you have made have you seen any MPG gains? Is there single mod that stands out with a significant MPG gain?

      Cleaning out my ebp tube and sensor made a noticeable difference as well as replacing my worn worn out injectors. I’m not getting any crazy good mpg though

      I should add my truck is bone stock. I've owned it since 2008 and am just now starting to upgrade.

      Best I’ve seen is about 19 but I’d say I’m usually around 15 with mixed driving

      KC's balanced assembly kit contains everything you see. Super nice to work with.

    I just went through and rebuilt mine but noticed I still have play in the shaft any idea why that would be?

      There normally be a little bit of play in the shaft while oil isn’t running through it. Should not be a lot of play though.
