  • Hey Guys,
This week we are rebuilding the turbo and let just say things have not been smooth. I have had a lot of trouble putting the turbo back together on my OBS 7.3 Powerstroke. But keep on watching, next week we will install the KC SXE Hybrid turbo on my 1996 F-350 Ford.

Another great video man. When I pulled my turbo apart we were lucky enough to get all the bolts out without issue. To get the housing off we remounted it on the pedestal and sat it on the floor. I had a buddy smack it on the t4i flange with a rubber mallet. I held onto it to make sure it didn't damage the exhaust wheel. Came off without incident

Man, Your truck is really clean.
I've got an 88 F250 with the 7.5 that's currently in the shop getting fixed. Sourcing custom parts for headlights, bumpers and other assundry items is really hard for the pre 90s fords.
I'm really glad I stumbled on your channel. I'm going to keep an eye on it and see if you do any mods or anything I might be interested in doing to my truck.
    cheers!

I found my turbo to be super easy. If you have to do exhaust manifolds, up pipes, or oil pan gasket like me you would change your mind and love just rebuilding the turbo. Even with your problems you had

Nope you don’t. Hahaha. I had to pull my front cover off to get a broken water pump bolt out. I’m much more careful with bolts now.

Glad to see you got it together trust me feel ur pain on first time turbo removal now that I’ve done it several times I can remove and reinstall in about 2hours or less my. My current turbo is a e99 center cartridge and pedestal and obs exhaust housing and compressor cover. And billet wheel a member on ford truck enthusiasts came up with it freakify mod. Definitely glad to see you about have it knocked out.

Makes for much easier removal process in future or for any removal because you don’t half to remove pedestal with turbo two bolts from above and your 4 exhaust housing bolts.

Best think I’ve found is put turbo on pedestal and leave exhaust outlet flange off then on two rear lower bolts put them in pedestal and put rubber band on them to hold them up worked very well for me

928 OBS not to far but not that close. I’m in north Phoenix. Not far from Anthem and New River.

928 OBS Thanks. I wish it was a 250 with a Powerstroke but it’s just a 150 with the 5.0. It’s a work in progress. I want to get a 6.4 front bumper and rebuild the engine.

When you put the stainless steel lines for the electric fuel pump kit watch out tightening the passenger rear fitting too hard. I did that mistake and had to replace the whole cylinder head.

You mind if I ask where you got the instructions to tear apart and rebuild the turbo.
