    Nice vid on the assembly but, the back pressure valve really has no use for u folks in florida. The main reason for the back pressure valve is cab heat. It closes and helps the 7.3l warm up faster so u have cab heat quicker. I had mine off first time maybe 6 years ago for the WW2, while i was there i removed the buttery fly and shaft, installed steel soft plugs to close it up. Then i removed the pedestal , disassembled the actuator and removed the guts of it. Drilled and tapped the rod side for a pipe plug, got rid of the whole works. This is also a known oil leak area, from the rod of the actuator. A couple of years ago i went with the kc300x.

    What is your recommended procedure prep for the first restart of a new/rebuilt turbo? Do you crank the motor with the fuel pump fuse/relay disconnected to get the oil flowing, or just pre-lube it to death, and start it normally? Ty

    • @The73Garage
      @The73Garage  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d the engine is back from the machine shop, you’ll need to do as you said. Prime is by cranking it over for intervals. The Low pressure oil pump will move oil through the engine and up to the injectors. Pre-lubing parts is also important during assembly!
