Just stumbled on your video and had no idea you were in a wheelchair until you mentioned it. Hat's off to you for working on your own vehicle and for doing it in a wheelchair! Your a bada$$ brother!
Hi Joe! I am new to your vids but what I have seen so far so very well done!I agree with B funk you are a badass! Cheers! .
Hell yeah brother. Nice job. Inspiring!
Hats off indeed
Guys in wheel chairs can't make videos???? You a real racist!!!!
Good looking truck brother. I have a 2001 f250 7.3 crew cab. I appreciate the videos you make and all the information you put out their. It helps me decide on what i want to do to mine.👍
I have RiffRaff’s fuel rail crossover kit on my 7.3. I have been very happy with their product.
Hi Joe I am enjoying learning from you. I feel like I understand my 7.3 better with each of your videos I see.
Really glad to hear that man!
It’s nice to finally see a new beefy mounting plate for the exhaust back pressure sensor...I bent it slightly when I serviced mine. I will be purchasing one for the next service for sure... thanks for sharing, take care and God bless... David.
It’s definitely and awesome replacement piece!
Very cool upgrade, thanks for sharing, never saw this part on RiffRaff
Clay is the best. Great parts and great customer service. 👍🏻
Absolutely!
Great video. Thanks. I’ve been giving my 7.3 some serious maintenance so it can go a lot more miles.
TH-cam happened to show this video, so i decided to check it out. Awesome that Clay is making his own version now. Always nice to see Clay bringing out new products for us.
I have been using the Strictly Diesel version and like it a lot. Clay's wasn't around then. IIRC the SD version slightly relocates the sensor so you can pull the cover off without messing with the sensor/ tube but i can't recall exactly
thanks for the video
👍
Curious to know, is the tube aluminum? Thanks JI
Great video! Brian, engine bay is smoking!! Yea Riff Raff!! Def has great products!! I’ll be hoping to dress up mine more over the summer!!! Keep grinding bro!!
You look like me opening truck part packages.
Like a kid at Christmas!
Haha I dunno how you couldn’t be
Great parts from Riff Raff!
I stick a weed-eater line through mine and connect it to my drill, turn it on and it cleans it out.
Where does the trash go down into the exhaust? And then blow into your turbo ?
I just stumbled across this video. I'm looking for older model desiel engine. N a older model desiel truck.. video very informative.. thank you. I will b following ur videos. Thanku!
Love the wranglerstar reference lol. I've actually met him on a couple of wild land fires 🔥. I just ordered one from dieselsite last night.
That’s pretty awesome! I’ve been following him for probably 5 years or so now.
Thank you for sharing, now to apply to my '97 .
Joe it looks Awesome, good job
Be sure to be put anti seize on that fitting, aluminum on steel in a hot location you will have a hell of a time getting it off later on.
Great stuff brother I enjoy your content. 👍🏻✋🏻
Love your video, good luck joe
Thanks for this, they are back in stock, mines shipping now. :D
excellent vid, thanks for the info!
Thanks! Best regards from SE of Salem!
Hi mate 👋 yes that's a new plate is a really more stronger and shiny 😊 I will like to buying exactly the same 😃👌👍👍 looks awesome 👌 nice work 👌👍👍 cheers from North of Norway 👍👍
You're in a couple fb groups I'm in! was funny seeing you there and recognizing you. Riffraff is the shit btw haha
I do chime in every now and then on those groups haha
I like the Riffraff pens so much I will ransack my own house when looking for one.
I bought like 25 pens from them the first time I got one in my package 😅
Riffraff is the go to place for stuff.
My ARP studs just got on from them today!
Oh yeah, sick’hur
Haha I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks their pens are great
Oh crap man! I stumbled across ur vid looking for things about my wife's 7.3. I'm a quad myself so I feel ur struggles. I had a 7.3 also but sold it after my accident because it was a standard and couldn't stand it sitting and just going downhill. I subscribed and looking forward to seeing more. I need to clean that tube also, 210k and never been done. I buy from RiffRaff also, and wranglestar subscribed too. By the way, this is my wife's YT account and I'm a man lol!
Great to have you following along now! I know the feeling. I sold my 93 Eddie Bauer bronco after my injury. Still regret it to this day. Life goes on! And I figured it was your wife’s account haha
Very good video. great info. thanks.
I guess I have to stop bitching about how hard it is to get around my engine bay, now. 🙂
Excellent channel. Many thanks!
This repair was actually my introduction to RiffRaff, you're right they are awesome!
So here's my experience: As I was trying to remove the pipe from the bracket/sensor the bottom nub of the sensor that screws into bracket snapped off inside the bracket. After a couple hours of prying, twisting, and swearing, I decided I needed to pull the bracket/HPOP cover off completely to have space/angle to be able to properly get that broken sumbitch out. So I go to unbolt the HPOP cover, to find that there is only one bolt and the opposite side covered in RTV. Yep, broken bolt. I'll give you two guesses which side it was.
I knew I needed something better than the OEM to compensate for being only able to bolt one side, cause anybody who has worked with this area before knows that if the HPOP bolt access point isn't covered/sealed, it will leak oil all over.
So I got my RiffRaff cover (the green one), pre-oiled the O-ring and put it in/tightened up the one bolt as hard as I could, and went for a drive. To my dismay, it was leaking! :( Then I thought about the way the RiffRaff cover plugged into hole, and I bet there was a bunch of RTV still in the crevices and cracks preventing proper seal. So after 45 minutes of scraping, brushing off, and wiping, I got the area clean. Reinstalled HPOP cover, went for a test drive, and dry as a bone! A month later and it's still perfect!
So RiffRaff = awesome! Even just with one bolt and no RTV, it works flawlessly. Yes they are a little pricey (about 100 bucks compared to 40 for OEM) but they are WELL worth it!!
Not to mention supporting a top quality, home grown, American company.
@@LivingOnWheels Doesn't get any better than that 😁 plus they even included a little sticker too, which is proudly stuck to my back window now.
Lookin good brotha, loving the mullet haha
#makemulletsgreatagain
Purchased orange thanks!!
Dude I watched many of your videos and just opened this one cause mine came today. Got it in red also. Never seen you smile so much lol got me more excited to get it on the truck.
Do I need to drain the hpop reservoir first or will I make a mess when the cover comes off?
Im surprised you don't have an Adrenaline HPOP or something similar on there vs the stock unit still, but no doubt this piece looks good!
I love riffraff!!!
Plugged ebp line causes loss of mileage but if u just unplug that sensor and the unplug the ebpv plug on your truck u will see a very big difference in milage and a little better response but not like a delete but the milage differance is amzing
Cool vid bro
Looks good
A point of information, that RiffRaff EBP tube is stainless vs the other suppliers who make it in plain steel which is prone to rust...funny that some charge nearly as much for the cheaper one as what that ss part sets you back...
That’s my only leaking spot on my truck so I’ll definitely be looking into getting myself one!
Dam it! I just bought a factory replacement plate. That is much better. Man I wish I would have seen this two weeks ago. Now do I scrap the brand new one and get the fancy new Riff Raff.
Have one of those bad boys on the way, along with a new line and sensor. Hoping that solves my P0475 code.
i never knew. thanks bud.
Hwy here thanks 4 all your help my truck is on f250 7.3 4x4 lv my truck want to buy the same truck so I can have 2 latter bubby keep up the good wk
I did learn about my 7.3
So funny bro, I agree so much about the pen Riffraff sends! they do write really nice!
I’m glad it’s not just me haha. They write surprisingly nice
Thankyou
I've got no problems with riffraff, or the part in question, and you generally seem like a decent dude, but I take issue with the title of the video. Unless your truck just so happens to have a blockage in the fitting that's bracketed on to that plate, preventing the exhaust back pressure sensor from reading accurately, there's no way that plate is going to have any effect on fuel mileage whatsoever. There's no mechanism for it to do so.
The truth is that I think this video could stand perfectly well on its own merits, without resorting to a click bait title.
Beyond that, you're doing a great job, bud. Keep up the good work.
The pretty much sums up what I explained in the video.
@@LivingOnWheels I appreciate that, but still it doesn't boost anything. It just returns it to normal operating conditions.
You're not obligated to agree with me, I'm just giving you my opinion, bro. Keep doing what you do.
Literally wearing a riffraff hat as I watched this video
Excellent videos, and we’ve got no excuses for not doing things....
This one I will try soon since that back pressure tube has never been cleaned on my ‘99/402,000 mi....ya think?
My truck is cutting out, hesitating , shaking badly at times when I go uphill. Have to stop , shut it off and wait awhile. Then it starts normally, and runs but starts hesitancy again right away til I’m on level or better, downhill....no one seems to know what’s wrong....scary....any thoughts?
Hey...Sweet yep i have seen that on their page...And but mine is on top..Dont think i want it so low...I like getting to my parts..lol...
Awesome new video and love Riffraff products! Question, I doubt my tube and sensor has ever been replaced and/or cleaned, so when you first changed cleaned out your tube and sensor did you just replace the sensor?
I actually did not and it still seemed to be fine. Just had to be careful cleaning it.
@@LivingOnWheels thank you, if I don’t have to replace it, I’d rather not.
Nice set up👌 where did you get the aluminum coolant over flow tank from
It’s a mishimoto that I had powder coated
nice info...as a side note, you might want to consider replacing that hose running thru your serpentine belt with a Gates 22433 hose!
New to the 7.3 world you and fix it nick have been awesome. Quick question if you do the exhaust back pressure delete why not just put the flat cover to the HPOP bolt??
Common miss understanding. Doing the EBPV delete does not mean getting rid of the sensor up front. You want to keep that in place and functioning. The computer used that measurement to adjust fueling. The delete is only getting rid of the valve up in the turbo.
Yeah my brackets on the back side it's not on that bracket but I'd like to change that bracket because mine's 95
Hey mate great video. 👍Your volume comes across a bit quiet I have my tablet at full volume.
If I have done the EBPV delete on my Early 99’ F250, do I even need the sensor or the tube connected? I’m in the middle of a rebuild and boosting my 7.3 to 450HP. Thanks so much for all you do.
Yes you definitely still do. The computer uses back pressure readings to adjust fueling.
After installing this and the new tube, what PSI is your back pressure running at?
How much mpgs would I gain from installing the new plate? Because my 7.3 gets bad gas mileage as it is and it is my first diesel so watching your videos help a lot with learning about my 7.3 more!
Like I said, the plate alone won’t give you better mpg. If your back pressure system is clogged up, cleaning it will give you better mpg. The plate is just nice and better then the OEM one
Is the line bigger or just look that way? Glad your doing good..Fabit Metal
Hey I used to watch your videos about a year ago but I totaled my 7.3 and now I'm back in another one and want to build it was wondering if you had a list of all the parts you've put on your 7.3 love the way the truck sounds, performes and looks good under the hood
oh man that would be a very long list. I have a lot of it listed in the video descriptions. I'll try to list the main ones. 4 inch strait pipe, S&B intake, pusher intake spyder, AC code injectors, KC 300X 63/68 .84 turbo, regulated return fuel system, and an oil crossover.
@@LivingOnWheels For a truck with no mods yet, would you recommended doing the regulated return or oil crossover first?
@@stephenlane7951 I’d say oil crossover. Regulated returns aren’t all that fun to install haha. That being said, the oil crossover is easy to install while you’re doing a RR system
Perfect video. As always. Just replaced the water pump on one of my 7.3 trucks. Hell of a lot easier to put that riffraff cover plate without all that stuff in the way. And I still kind of struggled. Takes awhile to get riff-raff stuff but I ordered it up and it was definitely worth the wait. I put a little dab of high temp never seize but other than that perfect video bro. I did one off of a topside Creeper a while back with two wrenches and limited space and bloody knuckles didn't know about the riffraff plate back then. don't know how you do it. God bless you brother. Keep making the vids
Really helpful info though never knew that was something that needed to be maintained honestly. Wish I would’ve known about cleaning the tube and wish that piece was out whenever I did my hpop a few months back! Where did you order the black an fuel line from? Looks just like the Amazon kit I’m considering to order.
I ordered all the hose and fittings you see from anhosefittings.com
@@LivingOnWheels Good quality lines? I haven’t order the Amazon kit just because I’m kind of skeptical of quality. Going to try piecing together my fuel system rather than buying a kit.
@@fbellue I’m definitely not a professional in this stuff but it all seemed like good quality stuff to me
I bought a line from Amazon. It was inexpensive, and the quality was crap. The bends looked like they put the tube in a vice and bent it. Crimped bends restrict flow
Thanks for the video. Any reason not to attach the tube to the access cover before mounting it?
I don’t think there would be any issues doing it that way.
Ditch the 7.3 power stroke and go with an IDI. 21mpg and ive hauled a little over 17,000lbs.
I would believe you hauled 17,000 lbs with an idi at no more than 10 mph. Good engines but couldn't pull the snot from your nose.
Hell yeah
Same shit different year.. in Ohio. About to rain tomorrow so working on the truck. 👍🏻🇺🇸👍🏻
I fail to see how this would increase mpg? Aside from looking fancy a being a bit more robust I don't know why to do this if someone can explain
I notice that the new cover protrudes into the pump housing a bit, where the factory one is just a flat plate. Do you know if this is a design improvement or is it just to center up the o-ring?
I’d say it’s to keep it centered and to make it stronger. The case housing is about the same thickness though so it doesn’t actually protrude into the case.
Haha agree on the pens!!
What type of paint or materials did you use on the intercooler pipe. Nice video
I got them powder coated.
Is the exhaust pressure reading available on a good scanner? If so, monitoring the rate of change of this might be an indicator to help one assess if the tubing is plugged. If it spikes when the peddle is pushed it might be OK. Your thoughts?
The edge CTS3 can read it and is without a doubt my go to setup. I have it in all my trucks.
amzn.to/3xKozdT
Did ya notice any sort of shakey or rough idle when you installed those stage 1s or was it smooth just louder still?
I didn’t notice any difference in smoothness but definitely louder.
can you do it the 6.0 tpp
Just out of curiosity how often or miles do you clean out the back pressure tube.
I only did it once but not very often
What MPG do you get with your 7.3? I'm assuming you have an MPG economy tune from Jelli on your truck...
This winter if been around 12-13. Summer I’m usually around 15-17
I might have missed this but did you have to RVT this one back on or is the Oring all you need?
Just the Oring.
Hmm. I've got a 95' powersmoke and can't remember if I've seen that tube.
I’m not sure what the setup is on the OBSs
Is there an exhaust back pressure sensor bypass, so it just keeps the EBPV open?
If you just unplug the connector on the pedestal it will do that.
Were you in the AF? I just did a flyover for the falcons game on 25 Sept.
I was not. Grew up close to the academy and went to a ton of their games. Always loved the flyovers!
I have an off subject question. How do you like that Milwaukee tool box?
It’s a pretty good box. Nothing special by any means but good, solid and smooth
I bought one. Does it require any sealant
Or is that rubber oring on the back the seal ?
The rubber O-ring on the back is the seal. Just clean the surface on the engine.
I replaced my stock 7.3 injectors with brain new ones. I'm not that familiar I want to change the stock turbo Any good ideas
Depends on what size injectors you put in?
How did you get the tube from the wheel well? I'm having a hard time w swing room. You used an open end?
Yeah I did. Had to flip the wrench in a every turn though. Little tedious
@@LivingOnWheels finally got it done and replaced the sensor. It wasn't fun sqeezing in there but it's the price we pay for own a truck!
Ur my idol men
Is that red anodized tank on the front a coolant overflow tank?
It is. It’s the Mishimoto overflow tank that I had powder coated.
RIFRAFF MAKES SOME GREAT PARTS LETS GO BRANDON
I've got a 97 7.3 350 1 ton full-size I just picked up that gets 6.9mpg will this fit and help increases my mpg? I need input badly.
With that low of mileage I don’t think this is you’re only problem but it wouldn’t hurt to do.
Where did you get red plate covering your coolant resivor.
That is actually a Mishimoto coolant reservoir that I had powder coated red. Super high quality piece!
amzn.to/3wBTOUe
Does this make a difference if you have the EBPV deleted?
Yup. Although the EBPV uses this sensor the sensor itself it’s also kind of it’s own thing that the truck uses to adjust fueling.
I know my 97 isnt plugged completely at least as i have an edge tuner and i run ebp and boost and eot trans temp. Gear its in all dispayed
Someone stole my Riff Raff pen 🖋️ at work .... I will find you and make you pay for your sins 😂😎
That’s how you know it’s good haha
Will it’s work with my 1997 7.3 f-350
I believe the OBS trucks use a different cover plate but I’m not positive.
Did you have to drain the oil out of the HPOP reservoir to remove that access cover?
You do not.
@@LivingOnWheels Thank you for the reply. I will have to reseal the access cover on my 7.3 soon as I do believe I have a leak coming from it. I have the RiffRaff cover on order right now.
Good afternoon bro
I have a 1996 ford e350 7.3 motor diesel can those parts fit my van too
Can send me the links please
The OBS motor is a little different but you can check out what riff raff had on their sight.
How much was the part. Thanks again
The plate itself is right around $100.
www.riffraffdiesel.com/hpop-bolt-access-cover-w-ebp-99-03/
Hey I have a big question, so I’m new to trucks and all and I have a 7.3 f-250 2001 and I also have a dually axel that I put on it, does it affect anything in the truck ?like trans or driveshaft ?
I’m hoping your front and rear axle have the same gearing. Usually f250s have 3.73s and dually axles are 4.11s
@@LivingOnWheels 😅oops, they don’t
@@NombreAqui1 should be okay. Just don’t put it in 4 wheel drive until that is addressed
@@LivingOnWheels sorry if I keep bothering, but I just need advice from someone who has more knowledge than me on trucks , but for my 2001 f-250 would other bed from other years work with this model? For example a 2011 f-250 bed or a 2008 f-250?
@@NombreAqui1 Short answer is yes, but the later years do start to get a different bed styling to them. 17+ will not
Is this just for superdutys or is it for obs as well?
Good question. Riffraff has it listed on their site for 99-03 so I’d say just super duties for now.
