Thank you so much, such a simple, quick, and precise explanation... I spent 2-3 hours trying to do this in DaVinci Resolve, watching tons of tutorials... and then bam, one shot, it's perfect... THANK YOU
This was PERFECT!!!!!!! I've spent the last 2 hours trying to 3d track or track motion, but had no luck. I was able to get the effect nailed down in real time watching your tutorial! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
oh man..I have spent days trying to do this ..50 video's trying to find out how..and you just explained it perfectly..even better then expected...thank you so much..legend!
Man o man! What a life saver. I've been trying to keep 4 lines together through the tracking, and anything else Mocha related was too convoluted to understand. This was simple and exactly what I needed! Thank you one million times!
The concise explanation you just did is incredible. I have LOOKED all over for something to learn this. Without question this is the single best video and explanation on how to do this. thank you
Amazing tutorial! It's worth to mention that it's best to use a full HD size video. I tried using 4K footage from my drone and use the Mocha Tracking and it would only render/track about 1 frame per 15 seconds, but rendering a full HD video was much much faster.
Here’s a general workflow to use proxies with Mocha tracking in After Effects: Create Proxies in After Effects: Before sending your footage to Mocha, create proxies for your high-resolution files in After Effects. To do this, right-click your footage in the Project Panel, choose "Create Proxy > Movie…" and select a lower resolution setting that’s more manageable for your system. Work with Proxies: Toggle the "Use Proxies" button in your composition to work with the proxy files instead of the full-res footage. This makes the preview and editing process faster. Send to Mocha AE: When you apply Mocha to your footage layer (with the proxy enabled), After Effects will send the proxy file to Mocha by default if the proxies are toggled on. However, this might vary based on the version and settings, so you should verify that the correct footage (proxy version) is being analyzed in Mocha. Tracking in Mocha AE: Perform your tracking in Mocha AE as usual. The tracking process should be faster with the proxy due to the reduced file size and resolution. Replace with Original Footage: After completing your tracking in Mocha and returning to After Effects, switch back from proxies to the original high-resolution footage before final rendering. Ensure that any tracking data aligns correctly with the high-resolution footage. By following these steps, you can manage and mitigate performance issues when working with high-resolution footage and complex tracking tasks in Mocha AE. This approach is a bit manual but effective for optimizing your workflow in After Effects.
Okay, I have a issue.. I have a clip with * different properties. When I get in back into AE, I have "layers" as a option. It will only allow me to select one property line to highlight, How do i get them all to highlight? If you know, please please leave a detailed message. Thanks
Hello man, great work. Do you think its possible to lift up to raise the choosen area and fill it in with earth to make it look like it has been lifted ?
Hey! Thanks for the kind words! 🙌 Yes, you can totally create that effect of lifting the chosen area and filling it with earth to make it look like it has been raised. Here's how you can approach it: 1. **Track the Area with Mocha**: First, you’d want to use **Mocha AE** to track the property line or area you want to lift. Once you've got a solid track, export the tracking data for use in After Effects. 2. **Mask and Duplicate the Area**: Back in After Effects, you can use a mask to isolate the area you want to lift. Duplicate the original footage and apply the mask to that duplicate layer. This will separate the area you want to "raise" from the rest of the scene. 3. **Apply a 3D Layer and Lift**: Convert the duplicated layer to a **3D layer**. Then, you can adjust the **Position** (mainly the Z-axis) to "raise" the area, giving the illusion that it's being lifted. 4. **Add Earth Fill**: To make it look like the lifted area is filled with earth, you could create a solid or texture layer (like dirt or earth), position it under the lifted layer, and adjust its 3D position and scale to match. You can also add **shadows** to make the lift more realistic. 5. **Add Shadows and Lighting**: To sell the effect, you’ll want to add some **shadows** and **lighting** to show the depth of the lifted area. You can use a shadow layer or use a 3D light in After Effects for this. It’s totally doable, and this method should give you the effect you're looking for. Give it a try and let me know how it works out! 🙌
I only have drone pictures which works fine but have several parcels of land. How do I make different clips? Do I make one, save it in Premier Pro, do another one etc.
you can add the still photo directly into After Effects and do the same thing. You just don't need to use mocha. Just the pen tool and animate the pen outline.
Great video. Replicated everything but for some reason when I hit space bar, the lines don't show. Tried a render and only got the lines but not the second layer it was supposed to be on top of. I'll keep working at it. Thank you for this though, I'm one step closer.
How do you maintain the LUTS, colorizations, and lens distortion corrections when opening the clip into Mocha AE? I lose all of the adjustments when I open it up in this plugin.
This is marvelous, the exact video i am looking for. But something is missing..How about if the continuation of the land that I am tracking still wasn't showed in the video, like the continuation of the land is on the left ? how do you track that? I hope you create a video for that as well.

@VideoFX is there an option to add numeric values as the lines are being shown adding up to m2 surface total?
yes you can do that. But you would have to create a number counter and then track that counter with a null object for each line.
