after hours of trial and error finally did it. thanks! Resolution does matter. I was using 2k video on a 1080p comp thats why they dont line up :) Thanks!
Happy you were able to figure it out! You are correct and my apologies if I didn't mention or explain, but Mocha likes to have all your footage and comps at the same resolution and frame rate.
Hello man, great work. Do you think its possible to lift up to raise the choosen area and fill it in with earth to make it look like it has been lifted ?
This tutorial is amazing, I'm just struggling a little bit cause in the parameters option doesn't show me the "export tracking data" to copy it on Ae, is that normal or I have to activate it some way ?
Hey, super video. Congrats. My shapes are not getting bigger from center like your squares. What I should do the make shapes scale to 100 from 0 like you? Thanks
thanks! inside the shape layer, go to the path and scale the path shape to your desired biggest size. Then using the scale transform properties you can animate from 0 to 100.
@@cmdelavega you should know that I am adapting what I learned in this tutorial using earth studio animations. It works well. In Washington DC where I do most of my work, it is difficult to get permissions to fly drones,
Thank you for your tutorial C.M. Invaluable! It helped a lot, after 4-5 dozen tries. 🤣 Do you offer any tips on how to make multiple translucent fills drop down from the sky? I've seen where 3-4 "layers" fall from the sky onto each other over the parcel. Thanks again!
You're welcome happy it was helpful. Yeah, I imagine it took dozen of tries. Tracking is hardly a go on the first try, it sometimes takes different approaches and attempts. It all depends on the footage. Send me a link of the effect you're describing and I'd be happy to make a tutorial on it.
In After Effects we used the entire 1080p composition to create the graphic. To place and corner pin correctly we need to match the comp size - thus make surface tool size of composition. It's a different method. Works great for this type, I wouldn't do it for screen replacements.
Yes, you don't have to use Surface Tool full screen. Usually when I'm tracking a billboard, poster, window,, a frame is when I'll make the surface tool the exact size that I need to replace. Otherwise I find it easier to use it full screen.
Im new to AE, am I supposed to do this sort of edit one small clip at a time? I have a 2:40 long video with multiple perspectives and locations. Should I break my video down and edit one clip at a time, and then merge it all together at the end? Im at the part where i use Mocha and it gvies me an error after I track forward because the one scene ends, and it loses its location.
i have a problem occurring there is only on small centre circle but you have 2 circle the one in the centre of the shape and when i animate it in the first step it grows from the only circle in the centre of the video i think its the anchor point
thank you soo much for getting back the centre dots that appear in centre of first shape 2:24 when you draw the object how can i separate the anchor point of the two shape because whenever i draw the shapes there is only one anchor point for both the shapes and when i animate it. both shape pop up from one point not from their individual anchor points and ik it's too much too ask can you please clear it if possible in a zoom or conference im really stuck on it i have googled and searched everywhere and no one teaches AE in my city please@@cmdelavega
💯thanks 😁 One question. Imagine if I wanted to put a new project on top of this house. I would have to put the image sequence (animation) with the same camera as the 3D model in the after but I would have to edit the project limits frame by frame, right?
How do you maintain the LUTS, colorizations, and lens distortion corrections when opening the clip into Mocha AE? I lose all of the adjustments when I open it up in this plugin.
Yes. I would do Mocha before you add any of the LUTs, color grading etc. Mocha won't import any effects. However you can render out the clip with all the effects and import the rendered clip and then open Mocha if you prefer to track as your last step.
It seems like there's an issue with your tracker. If the tracker isn't tracking properly it'll cause distortion. That happens to me often. What I do is try to find another area to track that will give me better results.
Thanks for this tutorial. It helped me a lot also.:) I'm having trouble though with precomped shape layers that are supposed to come into frame with my tracked footage. eg. I have a drone shot of a stadium and am supposed to have an overlay on the entire field which only partially in frame in the first couple seconds. The shape layers are cut off when they use the tracking data of the into frame coming field. If I draw it on the last frame (where the field is in the frame completely) the application of the tracking data is getting messed up and doesn't work, even if I inverse it or reverse the time on this layer. Any idea what the problem is here? Thanks in advamce:)
It must be the tracker. If it's off, then your overlay won't work. I would start tracking from the end where you see entire field and track backwards. When you use the align surface tool select a frame that shows the entire field, this could very well be the last frame of the shot. Hope this helps!
This is such a great tutorial thank you! One issue I hope you can help me solve: When I apply the tracking data, it does not add any keyframes to the scale, rotation or position of my measurement/boundary layers. Anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!
Hey man nice video. Does this work with irregular shapes? I used a different method by generating a layer mask over the layer, but I can't generate dash/gaps when adding a stroke effect (only able to use it via shape layer). But when I attach the tracking data to the shape layer it links to the surface area and not the outlined layer. Any help? Thanks!
Thanks man! Make sure you do the following. 1. Set the surface tool in mocha to the edges of your comp. Use the align to surface button. 2. In Ae, precomp your shapes and make sure it's the same dimensions (example 1920x1080) as the footage you tracked in mocha. To make it work, everything has to be same dimensions. The layer you apply tracking data must match the dimensions of your footage.
Ive done everything same as you but its not rotating the measurement and boundary, what yould be the problem? Its not tracking.... AE2019 Thanks for your help
Is your tracker working? Is it accurate? If you don't get an accurate track, then it won't work. Is there any type of motion that goes inside your tracking area? If so, this can cause inaccurate tracks.
@@cmdelavega is not there anyway i can export date without that much of keyframes involved? I mean in the 3d camera tracker you just pick the spot and make plane and pre comp it then you can add what ever inside? what is the downside of doing it this way that i mentioned? thx.
If it works perfectly with 3D camera tracker, then stick with it! For me personally, 3D tracker is hit or miss. Doesn't always work. The method in Mocha is an alternative method.
@@cmdelavega Yeah 100 percent true. I tried it and sometimes it was a miss and spent hours fiddling with it but most of the time it was working fine. Thanks very much.
