I recentlyy bought a Levi's 501 Skinny that has stitchings on the back the same way she did them on the video! She's a rock star! Would def love to see a detailed jeans tutorial!!!
Tell me about it. I took my overstretched 501s to an ‘expert’ denim taylor only to have them ruined. I’d love to be able to do this myself. Also, too many YT tutorials tell you to adjust them at the butt crack, which ends up looking very weird...
GIRL!! I work at Levi’s and the little tag on the pocket without the logo means it’s a rare edition 😱 They pause the production of a certain model at every 500 (or 1000?) pairs to make sure that the quality is right. These might be worth more than you thought:)
I would have kept the buttons too, maybe even made it not necessarily straight down but going to one side like a cross over. It would have been a nice detail if she had kept them.
LOVED your refashions! That little crop top is gonna be super cute with the frayed edges and I think you're spot on about shortening it a bit. When I saw the denim dress I immediately thought of the 90s inspired retro vests that are super trendy right now. Taking it in on the sides, two darts at the back and from the extra fabric you could make ties for the back to further cinch in at the waist. For the bottom, a simple pair of elastic waist shorts would make a darling 2pc set or just keeping the skirt as is and add an elastic waistband. I am glad you kept the collar on the checked shirt...super cute. You were also spot on in altering the jeans to fit. I think you slayed these re-fashions. You earned a new subscriber!

I have lost weight and have a ton of pants that are too big - I REALLY did not want to have to go through all the mess of removing the waistband, front pockets, and all that. Just taking off the back pockets and those front belt loops did the trick!
I am very impressed with your wanting to fix things yourself and the desire to jump in there and get it done by yourself! Yours was a video that didn't make me regret watching it.
When you were working on the gingham top, the light from your blinds was hitting it on a dotted line. I thought that was your chalk mark for the sizing. I was trying to figure out how cutting on a diagonal in three places was going to size it down for you. Enjoyed this video!
Wow, is not just wonderful that you can upcycle clothes that way, but also your vision of how you want it is very clever. The Jean make up impress me a lot, because at the beginning I could not visualize the look of the finish jean by the seams you were planning to make, I'm just a beginner enthusiast in the sewing ground, and I just knew how to tapered the legs of a pant, but with your video I learn something new. And by the way, you are gorgeous and make all that clothes look better!
I just found a pair of jeans that look like the after and fit me perfect in the thrift store the other day! Vintage 10, modern size 4... my dream jeans! I could NOT be more thrilled😍
that was frikin awesome! Ive always wondered how to tailor jeans like that. I have this problem nearly EVERY time I try on a pair of jeans where they fit everywhere but gap 1-3 inches at the waist. its ridiculous! Im so excited to try this though thanks!!
I wish it did! Id like to blame my poor seamstress skills because it looked great when she did it, but it just wasn't the same. I think maybe it didn't work because the jeans I bought were literally like 6 or 8 sizes too big instead of like 1-3 which would have been more doable. The seam that I stitched down the back leg was very apparent, so I think that would've worked better on darker jeans, then I tried to make two darts in the butt pockets which created a weird effect. I think I was just working with too much fabric. @@lilyp6949
I've pretty much given up on buying jeans. My waist is 26" and my high hip just 2" below that is 38" then my full hip 5" below my waist (not 7" like they tell you to measure, that's below my crotch lol) is 40". They just don't seem to make jeans with a 14" difference between waist and hip. The few places that try to cater for curvy figures like that don't do the jeans in a long enough inseam for me - I need 34". I'd love to try taking them in myself, but this method confused me a bit because she only seemed to serge a new seam line, then said "I'll just serge that bit off" which I'm not sure if she meant cut off? Because wouldn't they be terribly bulky and uncomfortable if the excess fabric was just left there? Also I don't actually have a serger. I have 4 sewing machines, one of which is a hand-cranked Singer from 1911 but no serger. lol
Get a machine... 20 bucks and really old from craigslist... not to old and not to new. The 1950s models are simple and yet new enough to reverse. Anything the kids ask for. My 8 year old started. Start small. It's easy to do much when you accomplish one step at a time.
