Small correction. Not built LIKE a model; she is an incredible model, so she's the real deal. Add in her brilliance, her personality, and her eventually landing in my chair, and she can go to supermodel status.
She needs to get demin thread. And a denim needle. If the thread is snapping during sewing it wont hold up during wear for very long, and no one wants the ass of their pants popping open lol
ahaha I totally agree, I was just being lazy and not wanting to go back to the store when I decided to film this - 100% recommend real denim thread for this project so there is no ass out pants popping lmfao!
I did this! I followed this tutorial and it was so easy and worked great!! I did use a denim needle and double strength thread for my machine, I would recommend it. I reattached by belt loop over the new seam in the back and you can’t even tell! I also pinned the pockets together while I was seeing to make sure it all lined up. Thanks so much for this video!!
Oh man! I would be so scared to wear those being sewn without a denim needle and thread! When take in very large jeans, I like to seam rip the butt open and preserve the original middle seam. You’ll also want to at least zig-zag the edges of the fabric you cut off inside. Obviously if they work for you then they’re perfect, but you mentioned selling on Depop and I would be so mad if I bought a pair of jeans online only to find out the sewing was sketch. Investing in a denim sewing machine would be a good, if that’s a possibility. I have a Toyota Super Jeans machine and it does the job nicely.
Totally agree haha not the correct thread (like I stated in the video) when I decided to film this I was just being too lazy to drive to the store and get the denim thread beforehand ♥️
Ok but post a video of how you do your jeans! We all need it! I honestly don’t like how the crack of the jean seam is gone it makes the booty look wierd.
Okay so I’m keying in on the actual sewing part and I can tell you from experience....go to the sewing store and get some needles that are specifically for denim. It will save your machine. You may actually damage your sewing machine if you try to see all those jeans with the wrong needle. I broke a BUNCH of needles messed up my machine before I found out there are sewing machine needles that are specifically for denim and other similarly heavy materials like canvas. Cost me a bit of change to get my machine fixed. I know you would be heart broken if you broke your sewing machine accidentally just because of needing to use a different needle.
I absolutely love this video. I found these Calvin Klein and Guess jeans at a garage sale but they were too big at the waist... this video has saved my life and blessed my soul. Now i look like an absolute model in those jeans with a tiny waist❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Thank you so much. And this tutorial is one of the easiest ive ever seen✌🏽
hannahleeduggan omg yessss ma'am. Waist is snatched, butt on point, and looking as tall as ever (even though in reality im only 5'0") ‼️ i'll dm you a photo of me wearing it tomorrow at school🔥
You can go on the outside of the Jean legs and pull out the treads ( not past the bottom of pocket stop at pocket) . The seams on the outside are not double sewn. You can also take the seams out on the outside and lay the legs flat and sew lace ,paint flowers ,flowers from old material like plaid jackets , favorite band name or song etc. then you just see the seam back up . You do great work ! then you can just see the in side back up .
Nicely done!! I suggest dividing the extra into 3 and taking 1/3 in on each side and then on the back so the pockets won’t be so close :) of course your way is much easier so that also works too!
I’ve actually tried that way! I found that because jean fabric is so thick it was annoying to have that thick seam on your hips. I was bummed cause I thought it would look better too!
This vid has been up a long time so I assume someone has already mentioned this by now, BUT HERE I GO: the thread is breaking because of too much tension. Thick parts of fabric are more to wrap around, but the machine doesn't know that! so it gets too tight. The reason it works better going from the bottom is when you have a long seam behind the part that's getting tight, it can "borrow" some thread from there by pulling back on it and relieving some tension. You can adjust the baseline thread tension on the machine (each one is different, but there's a setting you can adjust) just for the parts where it typically breaks. hope this helps someone! p.s. I love that the pockets angle in the back cause it really boosts the "hourglass" vibe of highwaisted jeans
Damn it's such a good and easy DIY 🙌 I actually tend to buy mens jeans aswell and make some extra holes on my belts to make them tighter but it always looks a bit weird aha. Need me a new sewing machine now :) Thank you, love your videos!!
i love this!! i just bought a pair of super cute men’s jeans, but they’re a men’s 34 & i wear a women’s 26 so i definitely have to tailor the waist... so excited to try this & hopefully it works out well!! this video was so helpful!! ☺️
I think it's because of the aesthetic and her creativity. She doesn't buy the most expensive stuff like many TH-camrs, she puts creativity into it and makes it look just as good, if not better. I love it when people understand that you don't need wealth, but taste to make something work.
Hi Hannah! Could you please do a video on how you manage your finances/afford an apartment in Minneapolis on your own? I live in Minneapolis also - currently with my parents - and am beginning the hunt for my own apartment! I’m curious as to what neighborhood you live in (not in a creepy way, I promise!!) and what the rent is like. Thanks so so much! ✨
I actually live in Saint Paul, I think it’s probably slightly cheaper over here? (Just because it’s less trendy probably) You can take a peek at my “weird ways I’ve made money” video- I talked about all the jobs I’ve had, and extra bits of income I make!
This is so clever. I have way too many jeans which are not fit to me anymore ans i dont really wanna give them away either so thanks for this video. You saved me miney
Good idea and nice work. The pants look great on you, or, you look great in the pants, etc. My wife is an excellent seamstress. She frequently does projects like this, and much more. She will buy clothes that she likes almost no matter the size, then bring them home and alter them to fit. She does this with pants, shirts, coats, jackets, whatever, and they all come out looking great. Go For It
Aw this video is so helpful tysm ...i just found a bunch of my grandpa's old jeans and they are super vintage but big im totally going to use this tysm i didn't know what i was going to do plus all stores are closed during quarantine but i got some fire jeans 😂💎
hey! love the videos and your creative ideas! by loosening the tension of your thread on the sewing machine, hopefully this will make your thread break less on those thicker parts of materials. just remember to readjust the tension after the thick stuff :) i hope this helps!
I don't know if this is a stupid way of thinking, but.. what if you put on the pants backwards? Then you can draw those lines in front of you? Doesn't that make the pinching part easier for you? Also, this is brilliant! I always like the fabric of men's jeans and the fact they have pockets you can actually use, so I might need to try this some time.
I haven’t tried it that way- only because I think getting the right curve of your butt is probably important for how well they’ll fit once you’re done sewing them ♥️
ahaha I totally agree, I was just being lazy and not wanting to go back to the store when I decided to film this - 100% recommend real denim thread for this project
Aaaahhhg I really wish I could tell you but it was some super small shop in LA and I don’t remember the name 😭 Just checked for a tag too, and there isn’t one 😣
Ok, I can't believe I just watched all of this... I subbed for the van life videos. Did I miss the "why I left the van" video? And from a guys perspective, cute in every way.
Aw haha, thanks for watching! 😄 I’m currently home for the winter to see friends and family and for some out of the country travel! Still 100% have my van, and I’ll probably be jumping back in when spring/summer hits ♥️
@@hannahleeduggan a lisp is when you pronounce 's' with more of a 'th' sound. I would recommend taking in some from the side seams and some from the center seam to try to preserve the pockets in the back
Thanks. Thats actually a lot easier than most of the other ways to resize the jeans. And since i'm not the best sewer imma try this one
