You do GREAT videos. You don't have annoying background music, your instructions are clear and easy to follow, your voice is very pleasant and you have BEAUTIFUL hands! Thank you😆
Lisa, you give wonderful presentations and are so generous to share your research and experimentation. Instead of doing a 5 minute version, you give learners time to absorb what you're teaching. Thank you so much.
I love your calm cool and collected demeanor, I could listen to you talk all day. I am a self taught quilter from Pittsburgh PA and appreciate all of your videos. I’m typically on the shy side and when I get nervous my hands and voice shakes 😊
cousin, Great Video! i have recently been guided by the Holy Spirit to create a project for my neighbor that has just lost her husband and she had to sell the house they shared for 20 years, They used to feed the deer on their front walk in town and had this massive buck that they would always feed, the last night as i was helping her do the final touches of cleaning for the new owners, God blessed me with the idea then a deer showed up and waited to be fed, i was able to get the perfect picture of what i had been shown for a pattern. but after doing a lot of research on starching and applique, I must confess none of the videos had addressed my questions or concerns, so i put in "quilting starch for applique" and yours was the first video to come up! thank you for your hard work on making quilting affordable and doable for the common man or woman that is on a budget. May God continue to bless you and your quilting ministry. your cousin cricket from Montana
I know this is an old video. I just wanted to say that, I know what it’s like to worry that your contributions aren’t original or valuable. But I watch a mix of videos whenever I’m trying to pick up a skill because everyone presents things a little differently, and I never know what will best help me understand what I’m trying to learn. So thank you for pushing through that fear. It is helpful.
You are doing a FINE job. No worries!!!! Your mouth isn't dry and you aren't stumbling over your words. Your instructions are easy to follow. And you are NOT annoying so please don't give up!! Luv it!!
Thank you for 1) facing your fears and making these awesome videos anyway and 2) sharing your fears! I had no idea you might be nervous, because you seem like such a natural and a good teacher. I hope it encourages others who might be nervous to try teaching! Great job!
Lisa, I love your videos and I love how you present them. You make me feel like we are in the same room and friends. Keep doing what you love and we will follow along with you. Thank you for sharing even though you have a bit of stage fright!
My first intro to raw edge applique with freezer paper. Great job. As someone who has had social anxiety, your honest commentary and class room memories really help put me at ease. Thanks.
I know nothing about raw edge applique and tomorrow I'm taking a 3-hour class using freezer paper and glue. I get very confused trying to learn and do while in a group. Your video has helped me greatly. ( I had fantasies of not going to class.) Your style of teaching is fantastic for me and now I am going to class with much less anxiety. Thank you!!!
I am a self taught quilter. i found you on utube 2 weeks ago. i've watched your video several times( as well as several others). i prefer yours. tonight I'm breaking free of my fear and I'm starting to trace my pieces together and start. your instructions seem easier to follow than some of the others. I'm making cotton flags for some of the people who are doing pollination gardens this yr. for Master Gardeners project and several others. ok, here i go.
I love your videos and I am learning so much from you. If people are annoyed they can move on to another channel. Keep sharing your talents and tips with us please!
This is the best video I’ve seen so far. Thank you so much for ur soothing voice and outlook on life. I love simplicity and less inexpensive projects to do. Ur amazing.. so happy I found you!
That is the cutest pumpkin!!! You seemed to have gotten over your public speaking & making videos YAY! These are very helpful I love watching them you are very easy to follow even all these years ago . Thank you for taking the time to teach us💕
I'm always glad to see your videos. You're like an friend who has something exciting to share and I want to see and hear you. You are easy to follow along. Keep those videos coming!
I have never seen this kind of applique, thank you so much for your video! I was the same way in high school with public speaking, actually I still am and I am 46! Thanks for taking your time and breaking out of your shell and doing it for us to learn!
Thank you for taking the time to share your techniques with us! I enjoy that you are real and not pretentious or fake ,that is rare these days. Thank you!
I have enjoy education your videos. You explain the techniques and also explain why it works. I am a beginner, I started quilting in October 2023. I’m also very short on patience, but I’m definitely working towards getting better; quilting definitely helps 😂. The more efficient the technique is the better for me. Thoroughly enjoy your videos. Thank you!
You're doing a whole lot better than I could do. Keep it up. I think you do great explaining what and how to do something. I've watched a gazillion videos and not all can explain very well
Hello there I love your tutorials and I really enjoy the way you teach and explain I have learned quite a bit from you I don't think you're annoying at all people should be grateful that you are here to help and teach us new beginners with your projects to make it easy and simple for us so who cares if they don't like it they can just see something else my opinion but like I say thanks for the tutorials and I really do enjoy watching the way you teach
Don't really quilt but I do find your videos helpful/inspirational for garments. Just started using bias binding Instead of facings so teaching me how to do my own was a plus. This video spells grandkid clothes w/characters that you can't find fabric to use but coloring books for patterns. You inspire me; thank you!!
This is showing me step by step on how to do raw edge application. I love it. And I’m enjoying every minute of it. And will be subscribing to your video’s.
Glue sticks works great too, you get all the way to the edge. Great video with clear and easy to follow instructions. And no annoying background music is a huge plus. Keep um’ coming. If you have time, seeing a free motion video would be nice.
Found your video and loved watching you. You have a gift that's for sure. You take your time and explain things very well. I appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge and experience. Blessings to you!
I know this is an old video but you did great, Not sure why you were nervous, keep up the good work. There are teachers out there for everyone, you attract your tribe. Thanks for your wonderful tips!
Always wondered how to do the freezer paper trick. Thank you. I am self taught or TH-cam educated. Thanks so much for being one of those generous unselfish people that are willing to share your knowledge.
Lisa, I particularly enjoy your tutorials because I feel I'm sharing time with a friend. We would be doing the same amount of chatter. You do an great job. Thanks for persevering for our sakes! I learned to use freezer paper to stabilize during free hand machine embroidery. Loved learning the technique for other purposes that you have shown in your videos.
Hi Lisa, This is the first video I've watched on using Freezer Paper Applique Techniques and Elmer's glue. I found your video quite informative, useful and easy to follow. Thanks so much for posting! Keep up the good work...you are doing an excellent job!
Oh my gosh, yes. Even 3 years later your videos are very helpful. I watched multiple Appliqué videos but all showed how to sew on and none showed how to create. So yours was very educational for me. TY.
Don't sell yourself short. You did a fine job making the video, and your wax paper and glue technique saved my first ever quilt, a baby quilt with an appliqued name. Before I found your videos and technique, I seriously considered leaving the name off. Thank you for your videos on how to do this.
I'm glad I viewed this video... You applied the freezer paper on the good side ... whew ! Thought I had to mirror my pieces.. Helpful hint for you .... Wine will help with your public speaking & get rid of that shaking , too ! LOL 😋
Am not a quilter but am a 'hobby sewer' (have been for many years) and I found this to be a very informative tutorial, so thank you! As hard of hearing used the CC (closed caption) plus the full screen options and had absolutely no difficulty in following your instructions. GREAT JOB!
I love your style of speaking through the processes. You do have a lovely voice to listen to...not annoying at all! Thank you for sharing your creative expertise with us!
You did good! I like using denim as backing. I will make it unto a potholder. I never thought of using school glue instead of web! I think you are interesting,
Hi Lisa, I am Australian and sometimes have a problem understanding the American accent and I must say your way of speaking is very easy for me to understand. You are speaking clearly and at a moderate speed. I haven't started quilting yet but with a bit of help from TH-cam and you I will get there. :))
Hi Nanny, thanks for watching! Yep, it's definitely plastic coated. Most people who have never worked with freezer paper just seem to relate if you refer it to a "waxy" side hahahaa
I thoroughly enjoy your videos and appreciate you are getting out of your comfort zone to do these videos to benefit your "quilting family." Keep up the good work!
Had you tilted the eyelids a bit to the outside of the eye, he would not look angry. The lids actually touch the eyes in the drawing. Your public speaking is just fine!! The video could be shorter by fast forwarding through the cutting and gluing steps. Just show one at slow speed, fast forward several, and show the last one. Same with the glue; show one, fast several, show the last one.
I agree about the eyelids :) Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate that A LOT!!! I've started changing the way I do tutorials recently to shorten them up a bit. I'm glad you're watching along, THANK YOU!!
DJ Shanas You May notice that her edges are still nice and smooth and not ragged like they can be when using a glue stick. And she dries the glue with her iron so it won’t gum up her needle when she sews over it. That’s the trick right there! 😁
DJ Shanas She heat sets a thin layer of glue until it’s dry. You air dry a swipe of gelled glue. Either way your needle is stitching through dried glue.
After I posted the video I realized the voiceover goofed up. I think early in the comment section I made a note about :) nope you're not hearing things hahaaa.....
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me. I have learned a lot from you. So please keep the videos coming. But I agree with you. Public speaking isn’t my thing either. So I appreciate you doing this and sharing your ways with us. Your videos truly do help. So thank you!!!!
I couldn't tell you were anxious about making videos. I really got a lot out of it. I am new to applique and glad to see an alternative to steam a seam.
Nice video. Nice use of the freezer paper. You did a GREAT job! Long videos don't bother me, people have the option to fast forward if THEY want to, and those like me who don't mind just sit, relax, and watch it all. Thank you for Your time!
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. Public speaking is actually the number one fear for most people. Kudos for getting out of your comfort zone. Your tutorial is very relaxing, enjoyable, and helpful. I'm glad you cautioned people about sewing the project while the glue is still wet. I got in a hurry and broke the hook gear on my Janome Gem, that cost me $250 repair. I was devastated that I broke my machine. I wish I had watched your video before hand, but that was eight years ago. Love to you. Great video!
Thank you so much for your encouraging feedback, I appreciate that so much! Yikes, that's a costly repair!! I'm much like you, I would be so upset hahahaa, but I'm so glad you were able to fix it. That happened from using wet glue???
I see you did this a few years ago but I am an on and off quilter. Thanks for promoting Walmart. I worked there until I retired in 2017 and they DO have the lowest price on so many items. Your project is adorable and thanks for sharing.
LoveElmers glue for lots of projects such as anything that needs batting it secures the fabric to the batting perfectly (No Shifting). I have never used it in appliqué, but will from now on, it looks great and saves lots of money. You are such a good teacher, love your channel, thanks.
I love your video's I was searching you tube for easy and new ways to applique. I am fairly new to quilting and so enjoy your video's. Thank you and you do a wonderful job, never worry about "rambling on" makes the video more personal.
I have been searching for an easy to follow tutorial on raw edge appliqué and I really appreciate Lisa’s straightforward teaching style. Thank you for this great video, Lisa!
I have the same fear of public speaking, and I’m 64! You do a great job, really! Your efforts are appreciated! You are correct… there are far worse content creators!
Hi Lisa I enjoy watching you are a very good teacher. You are patient, entertaining you make it interesting. Know you got this!! Believe in yourself! 😁👏
Thank you for this video Lisa and explaining how freezer paper is used (and also the fabric glue). The basics and "key" steps of method and use of the tools of applique save so much time and error and are so important to a novice like me. I enjoy your enthusiasm about your work and it inspires me.
This video is very informative. I didn't think anything negative about your voice or your presentation. Don't be so hard on yourself. You are awesome 👌
I'm grateful to you Lisa for making these applique videos. because I haven't done applique in a lot of years. and a lot has changed since I have. The first time I did the applique using the freezer paper, I actually applied it to the wrong side of the material. Of course the alphabetical letters that I cut out we're backwards. So lesson learned after that I thought, oh my gosh go back and watch the video Lisa had posted. Needless to say I already found out immediately what I did wrong by watching your video. So thank you so much for this. Also the tips on actually doing the applique are great to re-watch and learn from too thanks again love all your video's I just want to make everything !!!!!
I have a massive applique project for a friend of mine this Christmas... and I have been stumped with regard to several aspects of it since I don't applique very much. Your video was one of the best I've watched! You answered questions I didn't even know to ask! Thank you. You have done a great job! Thank you for your help and insight!
I so appreciate the awesome feedback, and I'm really glad this video was so helpful for you! There are so many different ways to do applique and so my approach is always find the way that works best for you :) If you have any questions when starting your big project I'd love to help if I can!
So happy I found you when scrolling through videos. You are very easy to follow and understand. I have used freezer paper for patterns by putting 3 to 4 layers together. Anxious to try using in applique. Thank You!!!!!!
I have loved sewing for years and would love to be able to applique. After watching this video, I am reading to give it a shot. I absolutely love and appreciate the way you do your videos. Keep up the good work. Thank You!
Thank you so much Pam for the awesome feedback! Pull out some scraps and start practicing, using the scraps will take away the "pressure" of having to get it right, right away :) Most importantly, have fun with it! The more you do it, the better you'll get.
You do a better job than many videos. I like your laid back teaching style and please don’t think you are not good at this....I sure think you have a lot of courage and do very well. I learn a lot that I did not know, please keep it up!!!
Thank you for the beautiful tutorial. Was long time ago ,and you should be proud of how you face your fears. I am second language, and after 21 years in this country I still dealing with this fear.
Well said young lady! I’ve been sewing for years and I learn something you everyday! Your work and attention to detail inspires me to improve my work. Thanks for sharing all your ideas. Keep up the good work. If I can share a tip. Pilot puts out a pen called, FriXon. The ink is removed by heat and will re-appear when frozen LOL. So unless your making a garment for someone that lives in frigid weather, you’re good to go! I’ve been using it to mark my fabric especially marking inset zippers. If you make a mistake, press it away! Have a great day!
You do a fabulous job teaching!!! Thank you for a clear and simple video which has just eased my mind tremendously about making 31 flowers to go on the sashing for my quilt! No need to have shaky hands or be nervous. You are awesome!
I am watching you for the first time and I find your video enjoyable. You are doing a great job and defiantly are NOT annoying! keep it up and enjoy yourself. Your project is very cute....and angry looking I agree lol.
You do GREAT videos. You don't have annoying background music, your instructions are clear and easy to follow, your voice is very pleasant and you have BEAUTIFUL hands! Thank you😆
I'm so glad these videos are helpful for you, thank you so much for watching!
Perfectly said. She is . I also love your at perfect speed, because I'm a slow person, which my mama use to say. 😆 ty.
Agreed ditto😀
Lisa, you give wonderful presentations and are so generous to share your research and experimentation. Instead of doing a 5 minute version, you give learners time to absorb what you're teaching. Thank you so much.
I love your calm cool and collected demeanor, I could listen to you talk all day. I am a self taught quilter from Pittsburgh PA and appreciate all of your videos. I’m typically on the shy side and when I get nervous my hands and voice shakes 😊
Wow, thank you!

thank you so much Elizabeth, I appreciate the awesome feedback and that you've been following me along in this journey :)
A glue stick works better...don't have that liquid glue coming out on ends, plus you don't want your needle in that glue
DJ Shanas You May notice that her edges are still nice and smooth and not ragged like they can be when using a glue stick. And she dries the glue with her iron so it won’t gum up her needle when she sews over it. That’s the trick right there! 😁

I’m just getting started with appliqué. This was immensely helpful! Fabulous job!!
I was enjoying the video and then I started hearing your voice echo around 23 minutes but no one else has commented about it so am I hearing things? 😬
After I posted the video I realized the voiceover goofed up. I think early in the comment section I made a note about :) nope you're not hearing things hahaaa.....

You are not hearing things, I heard it too, but it goes away quickly.
So glad to have you follow along, and thank you so much for the awesome comment!!
You are by far the best teacher for quilting and aplique. Awesome, detailed and comprehensive information. I think I've watched all of them.
Wow, thank you! You've just made my day :)
I see you did this a few years ago but I am an on and off quilter. Thanks for promoting
Walmart. I worked there until I retired in 2017 and they DO have the lowest price on so many items. Your project is adorable and thanks for sharing.
I'm all about quilting and crafting on a budget! Thank you so much for watching my video and for the awesome feedback :)
I love watching your video's! you explain each step as you go and I don't see your talking as "chatter"! Thank you for teaching us!
Glad you like them!
LoveElmers glue for lots of projects such as anything that needs batting it secures the fabric to the batting perfectly (No Shifting). I have never used it in appliqué, but will from now on, it looks great and saves lots of money. You are such a good teacher, love your channel, thanks.
I have been sewing and quilting for years, but first time watching your video. Have to say I loved your teaching style. Thanks for sharing !
wow, thank you sooooo much Sandy!

Thank you for teaching this old girl something new!!!
Aweee, you are so welcome Patricia! Thank you for watching my video :)
Thank you for this video Lisa and explaining how freezer paper is used (and also the fabric glue). The basics and "key" steps of method and use of the tools of applique save so much time and error and are so important to a novice like me. I enjoy your enthusiasm about your work and it inspires me.
You are so welcome! I'm really glad I could pass along some helpful tips that you could use, thank you so much for watching my video!
Thanks for a very comprehensive teaching aid, you take us through the stages nice and slowly and give us lots of tips, will watch your other classes.
Glad it was helpful!
Hey Marion! I am so glad these applique videos have been a good refresher for you :)
Love your videos! They are very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to make them!
You are so welcome Paige, thanks for watching :)
I love your voice and lessons and no music. Thank you. Don’t worry 😉 no patience needed.
Thank you for your videos, good teacher, calming voice not annoying.😊
+Patricia Marks thank you Patricia for your encouragement ♡♡♡
Yes, particularly the CALMING voice. So many on TH-cam has these hi pitched 'little girl' voices that just grate on my nerves.
You are the BOMB ! First time I've been able to get the hang of applique. Thank you...bless you!!
wow, thanks so much Lynda!
Thank you so much for your awesome tutorial !!! Your patience is a gift !!!
Thank you :)
You do a better job than many videos. I like your laid back teaching style and please don’t think you are not good at this....I sure think you have a lot of courage and do very well. I learn a lot that I did not know, please keep it up!!!
Wow, thank you so much Diane! I appreciate the encouraging feedback a lot :)
Thank you soooo much Geraldine, and thank you for passing along your tips as well.....I always say sharing is caring :)
Thank you. You are a very good teacher and I always enjoy your videos.
That is so cute and inexpensive I like your rambling it is like being right with you in your sewing room
You do a fabulous job teaching!!! Thank you for a clear and simple video which has just eased my mind tremendously about making 31 flowers to go on the sashing for my quilt! No need to have shaky hands or be nervous. You are awesome!
