    Sweet Lady !
    Freezer paper is plastic-coated NOT wax-coated and that’s why is great to be used for fabric.
    Wax would leave some grease, even color stains on fabric.
    Helpful hint: Dollar Tree store has a pack of 3 silicon thimbles. Those are great for protecting fingers from super glue, hot glue or burning with on iron accidents.
    Have a great day 😊

      So glad you mentioned this! I'm just learning about applique and my son bought me a roll of freezer paper. I thought it was the wrong kind cuz it says 'plastic coated'. You've saved me a very inconvenient shopping trip! TY ;)

    If can, get one of those Clover mini irons it works pretty good for turning the fabric over the freezer paper. You can always hit the whole thing with your regular iron once the folding over is done and you happy with the edges.

    Fyi..if you look at the writing on the freezer paper box, you will notice it's not coated with wax on the shiny side, but is a thin layer of plastic. But thank you for this tutorial.. also love your quilt shop when I'm in Eohrata.

    A video shared doubling the freezer paper. Iron the two shiny sides together. She said you can use the piece maybe 20 times.

    • @TheFabricPatch
      @TheFabricPatch  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you iron the two shiny sides together how do you iron it to your fabric?

    • @donnarichey144
      @donnarichey144 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheFabricPatch You just do one on top of the other one not the shiny sides together. It was on the Fat Quarter whop called How to applique a heart using the starch method Featuring Kimberly Jolly and Joanne Figuera. T hat is what you put in on you tube to watch the video.

    • @TheFabricPatch

    Frixon pens are not made for use on the fabrics. The mark may disappear initially; however, the mark can return after washing. Personal experience.

    • @TheFabricPatch
      @TheFabricPatch  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Frixion markers by Pilot are actually marketed for fabric. But don’t buy a different brand, they won’t work the same.

      @haroldkendra7283 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Janice Coulson It’s an alternative product for fabric starch. “The clear starch and sizing alternative”. Product name is Mary Ellen’s Best Press @ www.maryellenproducts.com for more info...eco friendly, no residue on irons! Great product. A lot of folks in restaurant industry use it for their uniforms and white shirts and aprons. Comes in two sizes: 16.9 oz spray bottle and gallon. Buy the gallon size for economy once you’re sure you like it because the spray bottles are refillable.

      A liquid starch alternative. Has some really nice scents. Doesn't get goopy and flaky like spray starch. Look up starch alternative recipe using cheap vodka. I use that a lot instead of Best Press.
