I just got done replacing the stock inlet for the Cobb inlet on my 2016 STI. I'm was already stage 2 with a pro tune pushing 20lbs boost. I have the new Cobb Redline SF+ intake system so having the Cobb inlet to go with it is a great setup. 4+hrs to install - not that difficult but a HUGE pain in the ass and my hands look like they got in fight with a chees grater! All I can say is have LOTS of patience and a spray silicone lube on hand - don't be afraid to use it. Got a good 2lbs more boost on the AP slightly faster spool up time.
I love that you elaborate on the struggle, this wasn't my first turbo inlet in the winter, but it wasn't any easier than the last. Pro tip from Michigan Throw your inlet in a bucket of HOT a$$ water for about 5 minutes before you begin. Ps didn't realize until I saw this that the PS line could be avoided, yea I know it could have been easier but at least this was PS mess free.
My mech did this with a perrin turbo inlet on my 2005 wrx, winter 20 degrees outside in Michigan. He was pissed but got er done and I paid him well lol
Nice job! I punted on this and had a shop do the install. They’ll just pull the manifold usually. I was doing rails and injectors at the same time so it was timely to do the inlet while it was apart.
I'm thinking the same thing. Pulling the manifold off. I'll change a bunch of the old rubber hoses along the way and make it worth the little bit of extra work & clean everything too as I have 210k miles. As long as I have another car to drive in it's place I can take my time and make everything really nice. The intake gaskets are only $25 +/- so it's not a huge cost.
I was doing some digging as to where the two white PCV thingies connect since I'm having trouble installing my AOS, this vid showed me what I needed, thanks man!
Hey! As long as your hoodprop isn’t actually damaged and it was just the rubber bushing... There’s a second factory location for the hoodprop built in! Mounts backwards from usual, inside a hole in the passenger side wheelwell. Just below your where your strut bolts in. Most older subarus have this nifty trick! Full lift, and better than a battery lead
I’m doing this right now on my 04 WRX, cars been sitting for a month so far haha. This stupid hose has been one of the hardest things I’ve done to a car.
I had to sort some soft fuel line under the turbo inlet. Luckily i had a silicon inlet to replace. I was wondering if life would have been easier removing the whole air manifold
Well done sir. I think it's fair to say that in this video, you finally bust your Subaru cherry. This is by far one of the big pain in the ass mods. Hat's off to you on a fine job done. 💯💯💯🤘🤘🤟🤟🤟🤟
5:30 no doubt, at least there's huge amounts of knowledge on the EJ; so predictable. Appreciate the step-by-steps you do, Dude. I so much miss the rumble and my hatch...knock-knock! The budget on my EJ's gone, got a '19 WRX. Going back and watching what you did on your bro's Subie.
Thanks, really enjoy your install videos. My scooby needs head gaskets (lol!) in the next few months and this is something I'm going to replace when the engine is going back in to save time doing it this way.
This video prepared me well for the brutal experience that was my weekend. I cannot say enough bad things about the wiring harness, which I named Satan.
Here’s the link to the part I used www.amazon.com/s/ref=as_li_ss_tl?k=B00J9U1EZM&ref=nb_sb_noss&linkCode=sl2&tag=06wrxdude-20&linkId=48abe076290d8043016f17fb5f5a4909&language=en_US
Did you have to buy the nifty hose connector that you used to connect the PCV Valve to the new turbo inlet hose?? I’m stuck on that and my car is down at the moment because of it
Doing mine tomorrow wish me luck. You’ve helped me 100% with all my mods so far

"Pain is only temporary"
"Quiting lasts forever"
🤣 🤣 👊
Just did the job and these words were the reason I didn't quit. What a pita job. Never again lol
That should be made on a shirt

Trying this on my 06 sti right now and sure has been a pain in the ass

Glad I could help!
Same here !

Where is this located?
About to do this on my sti.. replacing the pcv and ancillary hoses while I'm at it.. your vids are super helpful brotha.. thanx..
I’m doing this right now on my 04 WRX, cars been sitting for a month so far haha. This stupid hose has been one of the hardest things I’ve done to a car.
Great job . I’m lucky my wrx comes with aftermarket turbo inlet . Watching you install it , really feel your pain man
Wasn't too much of a pain just come chucks of flesh fell off in the process but its done whole process took about 3.5 hours and patience
the hood prop can put in a hole on the strut tower to open the hood higher.
Nice 1 on the stripped bolt removal 😂💯

You sound like my friends and I working on cars 😂🤘🏻

What makes it worse is when you start fishing it to the turbo and every wire and hose in the car wants to go also
This video prepared me well for the brutal experience that was my weekend. I cannot say enough bad things about the wiring harness, which I named Satan.
What would happen if inlet is not connected property to the turbo? Will there be a boost leak?
Yeah that would be bad news because the air is entering after the MAF sensor
Turbroski on the highly modified 😂 had me dead
Nice video. To all, inspect all you PVC, fuel, coolant and vacuum lines if you are hi mileage. Don’t want to do this job twice!😮
Keep it up bro! Been thinking about replacing mine on my 07 wrx
What’s that plastic piece called connecting to the pcv hose?
This piece?
www.amazon.com/dp/B00J9U1EZM/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_undefined?linkCode=ml2&tag=06wrxdude-20
Aw yea he’s back
nice video keep them coming.
Hey thanks again did you get any boost air leaks
No boost leaks, just awesome turbo noises! 😎
did you just use the same non reusable clamps for the small hoses or did you use something better?
I believe I used some worm clamps I had laying around
Getting a p0171 after install The return line heading to the bpv looks very crushed near the throttle body. Any tips ?
Nvm i fixed it i forgot to plug up a vacuum line from the manifold 😆🤣🤦🏽♂️
i got quoted about 480 for this job. guess ill do it myself :P
did you pressure wash your intercooler? those fins look like crap
Haha no...but I think the previous owner may have! One day I’ll get a nice fresh one
Does anyone know what that "PCV valve/ sensor" is called? mine is leaking internally and I cant find the part for the life of me.
Here’s the link to the part I used www.amazon.com/s/ref=as_li_ss_tl?k=B00J9U1EZM&ref=nb_sb_noss&linkCode=sl2&tag=06wrxdude-20&linkId=48abe076290d8043016f17fb5f5a4909&language=en_US
I’m currently doing mine and I already bro a sensor and busted some knuckles 😩
Luis Madera I feel your pain man! it definitely wasn’t fun!
The Harley Roll up
Haha weird flex but okay 🤷♂️
Would you require a tune if you do intake and turbo inlet ?
Intake requires tune or Cobb OTS which is what I use. The inlet doesn’t require any tune
Did you have to buy the nifty hose connector that you used to connect the PCV Valve to the new turbo inlet hose?? I’m stuck on that and my car is down at the moment because of it
lucky for me that piece was included in the Perrin Turbo Inlet kit.
I also want to say I just installed this today and it was a bitch. The only thing that was more annoying was replacing a pedal assembly in a wrx.
how long total would you say this inlet job took?
Prob a Couple hours!
@@06wrxdude one more question..did it add any noticeable power?
Nice video
Is this mod even worth the damn trouble?
People usually replace because the OEM ones break apart at the turbo connection causing major boost leaks.
Big thick larva wire 😂
🤢 😆
Ughhhjh I'm stuck on this fker ugh
Should’ve just removed the manifold bro! Would’ve been 10x easier
Hey maybe someday! For this video I decided to go this route. Either way, you end up with the same result right?
what a chore lol
Bro! 👏🙌👌🤙✌️😁😂 great job brotha! Keep em coming dude! Love your videos haha entertainment and knowledge honestly thank you! 🙏✌️😁
