Nomad Gets A SUPERCHARGER! The Blower Whine Sounds So Sweet!

  • We're back from the USA and I bought myself a little present while I was south of the border. A Weiand 142 Supercharger came home in the suit case....
    Now typically this sort of item would be out of my price range. My good buddy David Newbern picked up the display model from the labor day sale at Summit racing. $1500 well spent if you ask me!
    On today's video we bolt on this belt driven intake manifold and hear the sweet sweet whine of this blower. It was a super easy install and I have high hopes for the power increase on this 1955 Chevy Nomad!

    FYI the port you plugged in the manifold is for a vacuum/boost gauge. I put a tee on the back of the carb for PCV and brake booster and had enough vacuum for brakes. Those pro billet dist. have different bushings to stop total timing, no need to lock it out. My total timing is at 32 degrees. I have had my B&M 142 supercharger since the early 80s when they first came out and paid 1,100.00 dollars complete, a steal. There is a trick to filling the case with lube, the blower has to be off, put gear lube in then tilt the snout downward, then level it out and fill till lube is just coming out the bottom plug, unless you just put in what you drained out. Mine is currently in a 1950 Ford F-1 old farm truck, not restored. 355 sbc trick flow heads 700R4 trans from monster trans 4:10 screw in an 8.8 out of a F150 and Ford performance limited slip. FUN as HELL. The sound is unmistakable.

    The gear oil is foaming, it does not have water in it. Synthetic gear oil will be slightly better about foaming. Marine outdrive lube would be better yet. Get an air/fuel ratio gauge with an oxygen sensor to set the carburetor and jets. It makes it so much easier. Love your channel!!!

    You may want to buy a bottom aluminum pulley. The thickness on the steel pulley is for deflection. There’s a good possibility being that thin it will crack an come apart. Just a thought Dan. Don’t want to see your Nomad damaged. To nice of a car for that. Great videos love watching them.

  • @rickstephens1130
    @rickstephens1130 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    The only thing that I would think, as to why they sandwiched the other piece of the pulley together was for structural integrity, and to add more strength? Because of the amount of leverage it has against the belt. If that makes sense?
