Dan, the best method I've found for picking the right power valve for your engine is to measure idle vacuum. Take your idle vacuum reading in inches of Mercury, for example 15", and divide that number by 2. In this case, 15/2 is 7.5", so you would install a number 75 power valve. That means it will open when manifold vacuum reaches 7.5" or lower. So basically you pick your power valve to match your camshaft.
Just like I said, Dan wouldn't have let her drive it unless it was safe .and strait axles been around from the start. And Dani shows you all up ..Girl power to the front ..and awesome build Dan great drive.
Dan, make sure that throttle linkage doesn't bind. Under hard acceleration the motor kicks away pulling linkage and can lock WFO! The Nova did awesome and we call a successful trip!
the translation is that the people saying that don't want to drive a strait axle because they like there AC and Traction control and a car that generally just works and doesn't need to be adjusted on the side of the road
The first hot rods were Ford Model As and Model Bs. I have always been a Chevy guy, but I have a 1972 Ford Pinto hot rod. When I say Chevy, Ford, or Mopar, I'm only talking about older models. I don't want anything to do with the new trash.
Love that the Nova and you proved the folks saying you can't drive that WRONG. This has been my favorite of your builds. Great to see Danny taking a shift driving, you two belong together. Keep up what you do so well.
Hey Dan&Dannie I sure appreciate being able to watch your creation, take you safely and relatively problem free throughout this journey. Huge success Dan!😎 Take care of Yourselves 😊
I Am running a TRD blower on my 2000 4Runner with zero issues , run colder plugs and run 96 gas rebuilt the supercharger at 150,000 miles , so far so good !!!
Thanks for making my day! Crusin' the coast is kick-ass event that failed to get to this year. Keep on building and sharing with the rest of us who wish were were doing the same!
What a great sounding engine.Very thoughtful of you, Dan,to drop the background music for a little while for The People to hear it.Both of you look like you're having the time of your lives...such a cool vacation!
All those miles in a gasser with very little trouble, man you sure proved me wrong. Now I'll have to buy a shirt. And Dannie did an excellent job driving in all the traffic.
At 17, I drove my lifted straight axle, 357 cid, 4 speed, 3.90 geared "gasser" everywhere I went as it was my only ride. It was a '56 Chevy Apache pick up. It hauled ass. Back in the day most cars and trucks had straight axles.
Dan and Dani it's so COOL y'all got to go to Cruising the Coast . I've been and it's so much FUN & there's so many vehicles to see and enjoy . Y'all just need to move to Merica , everything is so much cheaper to get and the shipping if needed is a lot cheaper and you don't have to mess with CUSTOMS . Yuk what a headache . Glad y'all enjoyed it while here .
Loved meeting y’all and the car was awesome! Daughter took both of the shirts I got from y’all 😂. She loved that Dani was driving the car around and car sounded great sitting behind y’all in Biloxi traffic!
Storytime w/Dani @ 3,000 RPM📚 Minus one car (for now) plus one supercharger 🙂👍 Thank you both for taking us along for the ride, sweet talkin' the cops and lots of other fun stuff 😁
@DDSpeedShop Keep wheelin' and dealin' my muscle car brother you are well on your way towards bigger and better things ! That wicked blower will help the big bad NomaDD get up n boogie.... Do i see a match race between the NomaDD and Gasser in the future ? ( Dani vs. Dan, the battle of the decades 50s vs. 60s)
The sweet aroma of internet vindication must be euphoric! Unbelievable what you guys were able to accomplish! Stellar work guys! My kid had just taken his '71 Nova from So Cal to The Bay St. Lewis/Biloxi Area for his annual meet up with his gaming buddies 2 months ago. It was really great to see all of the coverage of the area you guys filmed! Now I can understand the beautiful scenery he talked about! BTW, that Chevy being towed by a Ford was sacrilege! Also, I knew it wouldn't take long to get that compressor mounted up on the Nomad! Keep up the great work on a great channel guys!
I couldnt think of a better place for the dash cam views. Hood. Twin carbies. and a shiny bug catcher. As the world rolls by in the back ground....NICE..
What a great adventure. Thanks for taking us along. Watched everything from the start of the build to now. For the past 14 years we've gone to Reno for Hot August Nights. Which is similar to cruising the coast minus the coast. But now you guys have us eager to drive to the gulf next year. Can't wait.
I drove back to Biloxi in 2000 in my 1970 Ford Ranchero. I had a homemade camper on the back. Best Trip Ever! If you can, Drive your own Shit! I still own that truck today. Love you Guys
Dani, you make my day because you always are so happy and pleasant. Your happiness makes us all feel good and I pray you are forever happy. I love that you and Dan keep doing your own thing and don’t worry about any negative Nellie’s. Best wishes always.
Great videos Dan and Danni! The Buckee’s y’all stopped at is the biggest in the world! I love their chopped BBQ sandwiches yum yum! We love the channel thanks for taking us along on your adventures! Dan you’re a hoarder buddy and I mean that in a car lovers way Lol! Bullet Bob from W.Texas!! 🤠❤❤💥🌞
Great video Dan and Dani!! I have to say I was kinda sad to see that you didn't drive the deuce back home but I knew the plan. Thanks for another great video!!
Dan great vidios glad you get to USA to enjoy your friends and hotrod when I was your age I was always changing plugs carbs and gears but at 77 now if it's not broke don't fix it. But I always am amazed at your energy and talent I know you catch a lot of grief sometimes but to hell with them just keep having fun.
Glad y’all made it home safe! Hopefully next year I can make it down to meet y’all ! Going to be seeing what your next build will be ! Always enjoy your videos
Hello D&D, Mike here from South Bend, Indiana. Spending the weekend at Town and County Campground in SE Winnepeg. (Springfield) We have been traveling for a couple months, went to see an uncle out west, heading home. Can't wait to get home and drive my '56 Ford,LSPowered. truck before winter sets in. It's a roadkill/dd speed shop special, but I love it. Last summer bought a '35 Ford truck, while on vacation had my buddy buy a '53 flathead for it, wife was'nt real happy. lol Anyway keep up the shenanigans'. Love you guys
Lookin forward to that Blower Biuld, I'm lookin to to that on our '65 C10 I'm currently restoring and looking to put a SBC in it. Glad y'all made it home safe an sound. God Bless you and keep you safe
that thing does better than my impala.. i only got 12 miles per gallon. I know you will never see this comment but I'm gonna say it anyway.. you guys friggin' ROCK!!!
I grew up with one of the founders of Buckees. I have been to the 1st and 2nd Buckets, Clute and Brazoria Texas.. As I grew up in Brazoria county Texas.
I ran that same scoop, wasn't until I put a newspaper box on it that I realized it doesn't flow enough air, newspaper box was collapsing, especially with efi. I put air cleaners under the scoop, way more better airflow.
I'm so happy to hear that you're going to finally get the Camaro build on your videos. I'm finally going to get my floorboard and roof installed on my 68' Camaro this Weekend , , The Nova did great cruising ! 👍
What a great trip they have had, I love seeing them enjoying the road, a shame they left the nova in the US, I think they are going to miss it... I look forward to seeing progress with the Nomad!!!! greetings from Argentina...
The Supermodifieds that run at Oswego in New York were running straight axles until 2014 or 15. They were running that oval at 130 mph for 200 laps. I think a little highway running at 85 is probably pretty safe.
Hello Dan, Ms. Dani. I said I wasn't a fan of gassers . No hatred. Just thinking about aerodynamics. And fuel. But you're getting 10-14 MPG. Very good 👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Dan, having bought my 1st 57 Chevy Gasser when I was just 20 years old and no other car to drive (except for $100 winter beaters) I daily drove that car 7 days from March to November, December? Basically if there was no snow on the ground, I was driving it. So I had total confidence in you driving that thing cross country. I also had no doubt that Dani would be fine driving it. I just wonder if she will be brave enough to race it. I do know from experience that my current 57 Chevy Gasser, tends to get a little bit squirrelly above 100 mph. Starts to feel like it is kind of like hydroplaning. And that can be a little scary. But if she wants to try it, more power to her. I think that's great. And almost 15 mpg, that's awesome, just think what she will do if you switch out those 2 600 cfm's for 450's. Thanks for entertaining us, I really enjoyed this whole build and series.
Man Dan, your cool lady looks so good driving her Gasser! That car drives so good for being set up for drag racing, smooth sailing all the way. Plus, your car is so cool 😎 👍 💪 that the both of you can enjoy this sweet car together, oh yeah! Also, that back seat needs some summertime love 💕 😘 💋 if you know what I mean, break out that Marvin Gaye, common baby, let's do this....Gasser starts rocking! You STUD DAN! Anyway, thanks for the video 📸.
Glade to see y’all made it home I love me some blower stuff hi habe owned a few and sold them when offered $ for them I want another tho can’t wait to see what’s next
I got the old cars, but for now my vacation cruises are vicarious, like this one! I enjoyed it almost as much as you... None of my crusty old stuff is good for venturing very far out of town... I'll keep wrenching!
I Laugh when people say you cant drive a straight axle across country, Heavy duty trucks, most cars pre 1950 had straight axles even light duty trucks through the 50s were straight axles. You 2 just keep going out there and having fun and ignore the naysayers
4:34 that bridge is affectionately called the Dolly Parton Bridge, you know, bc of the large... humps? 🤣 Also, I believe there were some animals that escaped during Katrina but that area north of Mobile Bay has gators anyway. Pretty cool to see the Canadians in the car that can't possibly drive on the highway, cruising on the highway through my neck of the woods!
Darn good series of videos of your trip to Biloxi and back home. You had such positive vibes on this trip and that was a welcome change. The 57 Nomad should be awesome with the new supercharger installed and all the tuning bugs worked out. You should see a really large number of new channel subscribers with these positive channel videos. As I saw in an earlier post, "Come on down to Texas". We are a friendly bunch. I know from past experiences in Lethbridge that I can't keep up with you Canadian beer drinkers.
You guys came up close to my stomping grounds again and stopped at bucees in Auburn ( War Eagle ) i have passed that place several times since it opened and still haven't stopped but i will it just freaks me out that y'all went before me and you came from the great white north...go figure, great job again and thoroughly enjoyed watching 👍👍👍👍👍✅✅✅✅✅
You and Danny were made for each other!! I love your Smiles! Together!!!
U ain't wrong. Just working with what I had
Dani is always smiling. She seems like she really loves that car.
DD's Speed Shop proving everyone wrong time and time again. Fucking love it brother, keep it up. Love this channel.😂
Haha I dunno about everyone
Just like I said, Dan wouldn't have let her drive it unless it was safe .and strait axles been around from the start. And Dani shows you all up ..Girl power to the front ..and awesome build Dan great drive.
U may call urself a "hack" but, u sure do hack together some reliable hot rods!!!!!
Heck yeah! She did awesome
There is no such thing as “can’t” in Dan’s books , love the build , love the content . Can the OG 55 make an appearance sometime ? Cheers 🇨🇦
Fun times guys! Nxt up blown big block in the gasser!!!! Thank's for taking us along for the fun!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the ride D&D. Sorry to say the exhaust was too loud, especially to hear Dani. Glad to see you back in the shop safely.
A chevy being towed by a ford?
OH, THE HUMANITY!!
Than you so much for sharing the trip,i thoroughly enjoyed it.
Q: What's on the last page of every Chevy owner's manual?
A: A bus pass.
It hurt my heart
The first hot rods were Ford Model As and Model Bs. I have always been a Chevy guy, but I have a 1972 Ford Pinto hot rod. When I say Chevy, Ford, or Mopar, I'm only talking about older models. I don't want anything to do with the new trash.
Yes people it does take effort! And Dan just proved it again! I drive my stuff everyday!
Love that the Nova and you proved the folks saying you can't drive that WRONG. This has been my favorite of your builds. Great to see Danny taking a shift driving, you two belong together. Keep up what you do so well.
Dani is a keeper.
Hey Dan&Dannie
I sure appreciate being able to watch your creation, take you safely and relatively problem free throughout this journey.
Huge success Dan!😎
Take care of Yourselves 😊
You did a good job Dan for the amount of time you have in the nova it really ran great and zero problems that's a win.
I Am running a TRD blower on my 2000 4Runner with zero issues , run colder plugs and run 96 gas rebuilt the supercharger at 150,000 miles , so far so good !!!

She acts like a 12 year old and has the voice of one too. God bless you Dan
All those miles in a gasser with very little trouble, man you sure proved me wrong. Now I'll have to buy a shirt. And Dannie did an excellent job driving in all the traffic.
Hahaha thanks

Thanks for showing what a can do attitude produces. A lot accomplished in such a short period of time
Dan and Dani it's so COOL y'all got to go to Cruising the Coast .
Good to see someone who understands how a power valve works and when to change it instead of endlessly messing with primary jets. :>)
I have a pretty basic idea. I ain't no expert
Loved meeting y’all and the car was awesome! Daughter took both of the shirts I got from y’all 😂. She loved that Dani was driving the car around and car sounded great sitting behind y’all in Biloxi traffic!
Haha she has good taste!
Happy to hear you two had a great time and a safe trip..yep, winter will be here soon
Storytime w/Dani @ 3,000 RPM📚
Minus one car (for now) plus one supercharger 🙂👍
Thank you both for taking us along for the ride, sweet talkin' the cops and lots of other fun stuff 😁
It was a good trade right?
@DDSpeedShop Keep wheelin' and dealin' my muscle car brother you are well on your way towards bigger and better things ! That wicked blower will help the big bad NomaDD get up n boogie....

Dan and Danni--Canada's greatest goodwill ambassadors!!!😆

Glad the “Nova-Priced” worked out. Going to have to look into one of those fancy cooling setups.
DDSMR channel with just footage of the camera pointed over the hood and engine noise, just what the people crave!
Shes having the time of her life, you guys ROCK
Glad you guys made it back home. So glad no major breakdowns. Very impressive
32:53 that's funny as heck when you find something that you work at and you really love it work becomes your vacation😮😢😅
Hey guys I think it's awesome that the car turned out so well and to cruise it across country🙃👍
I love music but yeah, the sound of that 327 purring along at 70+mph is the best.
Sounds like cruising the coast is more like a traveling car show. Would explain all the trailer queens.
I drove back to Biloxi in 2000 in my 1970 Ford Ranchero. I had a homemade camper on the back. Best Trip Ever! If you can, Drive your own Shit! I still own that truck today. Love you Guys
I’m proud of you guys I knew you could do it those small block Chevy motors they’re indestructible
Dani, you make my day because you always are so happy and pleasant. Your happiness makes us all feel good and I pray you are forever happy. I love that you and Dan keep doing your own thing and don’t worry about any negative Nellie’s. Best wishes always.

It was probably already said, but Holley makes a low profile thermostat housing that will give you more clearance under the snout.
Dani’s your cup holder! 😊
Should get some sweet tea while in the South.
Reminds me of driving my big block 67 Mustang from Calgary AB to Charlotte NC. Steady, almost hypnotic, purr of a V8.
glad ya are back home safe. keep giving us content please. keeps me going on my cars watching you wrench. peace.
I have been waiting over 2 years now on my 383 with a 177 weiand blower at machine shop
Great video Dan and Dani!! I have to say I was kinda sad to see that you didn't drive the deuce back home but I knew the plan. Thanks for another great video!!
Tunes sound good and smooth. The only way to ride. Living the dream. Solid all around car. Ronnie.
Dan great vidios glad you get to USA to enjoy your friends and hotrod when I was your age I was always changing plugs carbs and gears but at 77 now if it's not broke don't fix it. Nothing quite like a road trip in an old hot rod... She did great!! (Danni and the Box Nova, that is)
Glad y’all made it home safe! Hopefully next year I can make it down to meet y’all ! Going to be seeing what your next build will be !

I felt the same way ! Couldn’t make it this year either my ratrod has some steering issues but I am getting them worked out before next year
Just put one of those little blowers on the 53 pickup a few months ago. Fun little street motor!
Awesome journey. Thanks for taking us along. What's next??
Hello D&D, Mike here from South Bend, Indiana. Spending the weekend at Town and County Campground in SE Winnepeg. (Springfield)

Hope you all had fun down here in the states...hope you make it to Texas someday
It's on the list
I grew up with one of the founders of Buckees.
I have been to the 1st and 2nd Buckets, Clute and Brazoria Texas..
As I grew up in Brazoria county Texas.
Those 2 fellers wanting a look at your mill found out why it's called Friendly Manitoba.
That is in the same generation as my 1966 327! Beautiful engine Humm. You know she's ready to rip!!! Jim BCC AZ
I ran that same scoop, wasn't until I put a newspaper box on it that I realized it doesn't flow enough air, newspaper box was collapsing, especially with efi. I put air cleaners under the scoop, way more better airflow.
Such a cool car! Fun watching along on your road trip!
I'm so happy to hear that you're going to finally get the Camaro build on your videos. I'm finally going to get my floorboard and roof installed on my 68' Camaro this Weekend , , The Nova did great cruising ! 👍

@davidgardner262 haha we like to have fun
Hey! Dan. I wouldn't mind seeing the Nomad dressed up and mooving too! IT would've been more room for the travels
Nice one D&D 💓 good to see you back at the ranch! It was a real success wasn’t it and good to see you two having fun!
I enjoyed these cruise vids and nice to see you had a good time and things went smooth.
Waaaay better than a Timelapse with music! Thanks man! The car is running/sounding/looking great
Good tonknow for next time
Hello Dan, Ms. Dani. I said I wasn't a fan of gassers . No hatred. Just thinking about aerodynamics. And fuel. But you're getting 10-14 MPG. Very good 👍👍👍👍👍
That trip was awesome! Glad it was only minor issues... that little 327 did great!

We have a bunch of Buc’s in Texas.. move on down, it’s only 109 in the summer time. O, make sure you get the proper blower to intake aluminum bolts.
Thanks for the ride along with the motor cruising soundtrack, I enjoy your builds! keep them coming!
Man Dan, your cool lady looks so good driving her Gasser! That car drives so good for being set up for drag racing, smooth sailing all the way. Listening to that engine purr, you should make a soundtrack. It would lull colicky babies to sleep. Without a doubt.
