Parathas can be made in several ways. This recipe is the basic and healthiest amongst all. Based on this recipe you can make more complicated parathas like layered, stuffed and so on. I find this method to be the easiest amongst all.
Ingredients -

145 gm/ 1 cup plain flour
1/4th tsp salt
2 tbsp + 1 tsp oil

Thanks for all your support.
@@CurriesWithBumbi I tried your method tonight and made the best batch of parathas I've ever made! (I like to make them for my mom because the ones we get from the frozen section of the store are too spicy for her.)
@ashextraordinaire I am so very happy to hear that. Thanks so much.
So much helpful especially for beginners from other countries. U taught me very well. Easy to understand, with every detail. Thank you.
Definitely don't change the way you present your videos, they're perfect as they are.
Thank you
Absolutely agree with you. If only someone had told me many years ago on this rolling technique. Amazing. God Bless 🙏 and take care.
@singhivan thanks 🙏🏾
Lovely. When I was in southern India (Kerala), paratha was a little different. It was flaky, very similar to the Malaysian roti canai. I guess recipes vary all across the subcontinent.
@@raysouth1952 actually there are various type of parathas, plain, stuffed, layered. This is the most basic one and is like a foundation for all parathas. Our elders teach this one first and then we build our skills on the complex ones.
Keep doing it your way - there can never be too much detail for beginners. Thank you
That’s so true
I love your detailed explanations. It gives me confidence and inspiration to try and make these, and your other dishes, for myself. Ignore the "others" - and keep your wonderful presentation style !!!
Thank you
I always enjoy your commentary and detailed instructions, they are extremely helpful. I am so glad you won't let people bully you, this is your channel and you do it your way.
Thanks for all your support
Bumbi we love you for who you are.
You are soo incredibly unique. Thank you for taking the trouble to detail each step.
Thanks for your kind words
Bumbi, I love your recipes and your way of explaining things. Please don't stop ❤
Thanks for all your support
I am a beginner and I appreciate all the detail :)!!
I'm so glad!
don't stop talking in the videos or even reducing or changing the way you talk. I love the way you speak, the intonation, the way you explain things softly, thank you Bumbi.
Thanks for all your support
Bumbi, I’m saving this video and am watching it every time I make paratha. I do consider myself a beginner with all kinds of breads and doughs, so I definitely appreciate that you share your tips and experience with us. Watching one of your videos feels like having my mom or best friend who can make every recipe a success in the kitchen with me.
Awwww!! Thank you
What a lovely thing to say. I happen to agree! Bumbi, you’ve earned auntie status for many of us!
Well explained Bumbi - keep it up! 👍
Thank you
Ahh my friend Bumbi, please keep being you 🙌
This is what I love about you, by observing the details this shows a seasoned cook that teaches very well 🙏
Thank you from Brighton in the UK

Now, that's what i'm talking about! Don't go changing tryna please everybody. Always Be Yourself❤ LISTEN TO YOUR AUTHENTIC SPIRIT
Thanks for leaving a comment
The timing for this is perfect. I just ordered flour for the first time in YEARS with my groceries today because I'm preparing a lentil soup this weekend and I want to make bread to have with it.
Looking forward to your feedback. Thank you
Wonderful demo
I have read about this recipe for many years, a simple Paratha made by continuting to add water until the handfeel is correct. My gratitude, Bumbi.
Bumbi....please dont change the way you present. You hv a very soothing ,motherly way of presenting. I have made biriyani following yr step to step easy guidance .it came out really well .greetings from srilanka 🇱🇰 10:34 10:34
Thanks so much for trying my recipes
You’re absolutely right as you can carry on the way you are & don’t listen to anyone else telling you what to do when you know best & I absolutely love you to bits as I’m learning such a lot though I’m Gujarati that I’ve lived British life & missed out on cooking but now learning lots from you & a big thank you 🙏🏼 ❤
Thanks for all your support
I am no beginner at all but I love your keeping on with the details. Detail is important and your attention to it is what makes you such a good teacher.
Thank you
I'm not a beginner, I mostly eat roti, but I love your recipes because you go into detail. I'd actually love a few rare longer videos where you could explain in detail how various ingredients are used and why, and how various dishes could be customised to your tastes.
Certainly I follow many food channels from around of the world and only if the have the things that I look for. Originality, clear instructions, straight forward, fun, don't care about the wanna be influencer life, the channel is indeed about real food. And you have all of them my dear!!! And way more things!!! what a shooting voice! I love it!!! Whatever feels I'm wrong or you're wrong can go away and start their own channel and see if they have all the good content that makes a good channel. Keep going with your beautiful teaching!!
Thanks for your kind words and for all your support.
Parathas are really adorable if correctly done. Your recipe is excellently detailed , Bumbi
Thank you ☺️
Bumbi, you are the best. Thank you for the detail. It helps us beginners so much. As usual, your voice is so soothing.
Thanks for watching

Thank you
Practising paratha patience 😊❤ I love all your simple instructions, they are very useful to beginner cooks like me!
Glad you find it useful
Nice sharing 😊👍
Thanks
You explain things so clearly and I find that really helpful. These look delicious, thank you for the clear step-by-step guidance. I'm definitely going to have a try making these and can imagine they would be delicious with a channa Dahl 💚
Yes this tastes great with cholar dal (chana dal)
I like the way you explain - please don‘t stop!
Thank you
This is top tier and specific to the T! Love how the rolling speeds up with the music, and the attention to the general worries of the beginners.
Thanks for watching
I’m so glad I found your videos, Bumbi, a few months ago: your lovely, restful, soft voice, superb instructions and yummy vegan recipes!! Thank you 😃
I love the music! Bumbi, the fastest paratha slinger in the west haha
I've had two Aunties attempt to teach me in person, and I still could not get it. Now I get it. I need to work on patience. Which makes sense that I couldn't do atm, because I was cooking a lot of food/dishes as a personal chef at the time. Thank you. I'm glad this popped up in my feed. Your channel is a gift to so many.
You can do it!
Dear Bumbi, as I had said before, I can listen to you recite the phonebook all day lol. I absolutely love the way you present your clips including occasional snaps of your doggy and beautiful blooms. As I watched your clips over the year, I've also amassed a small collection of spices and different flours, even those small little spice bowls with their little covers as recommended in your clips. It's been a pleasure learning about homemade delicious Indian food from you in my little Melbourne, Australia kitchen and I'll always be a fan so long as you keep cooking and filming :-)
Thanks so much for your kind words. I really appreciate it
Looks so delicious 😋😋
Will make them very soon. Thanks for sharing and an extra thank you for making your video the way you do, I really like all the little details and cooking time you give us 🤗
Glad you like them!
Bumbi, your explanations have helped improve me as a cook enormously, thank you and keep doing what you do
Glad you find my videos useful
I love your encouragement, and your detailed way of presenting your recipes! Wouldn't change anything!!!
Thank you
Hi Bumbi👋 Excellent video. So carefully explained as always. You are such a wonderful teacher. Those paratha look amazing . I really must try them. All the effort you make will always be appreciated my dear friend. Hope you have a lovely weekend 💕
Thanks dear Emily. You too have a nice weekend.
Bumbi, I was always an awful cook with very little interest in cooking, but since finding you & loving the way you present everything, I’m in a cooking frenzy & can’t stop cooking & trying your different recipes. Thank you so very much. P.S. my husband loves your recipes & is so happy that he doesn’t have to do all the cooking!
I am so happy to hear that. Happy cooking to both of you.
Lovely recipe ❤❤
Thanks
Thank you!
🙏🏾
Well done Bumbi. Great instructions for beginners.
Thank you
Bumbi, you are a wonderful teacher and I love your explanations. Madhur Jafrey has always been my go to for text recipes in the forty years I've been cooking indian food. But you are the queen of video tutorials, not just recipes. Keep up the excellent work.
Awwww!! Thanks for your kind words.
Please do not change your style of detailed explanation. I love your soothing voice and love the explanations even more. I credit most of my cooking successes to your methods. My biryani is my all time success story, thanks to your recipe and step by step guide. Keep up the good work. I am your cooking fan
Thanks for all your support.
I ❤ u sharing my friend bye.
Thank you
Don’t change a thing about your videos Bumbi, perfect amount of explaining for any level.
As for partha, I really need to work at these. I make gluten free flat breads and I must be doing something wrong because they’re always hard. So hopefully your tips will solve that!
What flour do you use when making gluten free flatbread? Do you have an Indian grocery store nearby, because there are many gluten free flatbread options in Indian cooking using jawar, bajra, rice flour. I will surely upload them if you are interested.
@@CurriesWithBumbi I usually use an all purpose gf blend (potato, tapioca, rice etc). Is there one type which would work better? I have several Indian grocery stores in town, get all my spices there. I think I also roll it out too hard, don’t let it rest and don’t use enough oil.
That’s great. I will try my best to upload jawar/ bajra flatbread soon. If you like it then you can definitely try them
@@CurriesWithBumbi thank you Bumbi, that’s very kind of you! 😚
best teacher
Thank you 🙏🏾
Thank you, Bumbi, I can't wait to give these a try this weekend! I appreciate your detailed instructions, it's the next best thing to having you in the kitchen with me. 😊
Awww!! Thanks for all your support.
Nice. I will try it at home.
Love your tutorials with your very soft voice, keeps the atmosphere very relaxed when trying something new. Thank you.
Thanks for watching
Fantastic video. Your voice is so relaxing. Thank you for creating and sharing, so many tips.
Thank you so much
I love your videoes! I am a European. And I learn a lot from you! Thank you!
Glad you find my videos useful
I appreciate your guidance and explanations so much!
Excellent video Bumbi. I can see patience is the key with this one. Apart from your lovely voice, your delicious recipes and your humour, the main reason I LOVE your videos is BECAUSE YOU EXPLAIN EVERYTHING SO WELL!!! When you explain WHY you are doing what you are doing you are more likely to do it rather than skip that step (never a good idea) but also remember it. Please don’t change.❤❤❤
Thanks my dear friend
I love listening to you!! Never change!
Thank you
Your explaning is what makes these videos! Without it there are a ton of things I would miss. If someone doesn't like the explanations they can mute. Thanks for making these! I will try this recipe soon!
Glad you like them!
Great recipe, Bumbi! By the way, I really enjoyed the cowboy music 😂
😄
Your videos are absolutely some of the best. Which is why your channel has grown so much! Thank you for this lovely recipe.
Won’t ever forget your support all through these years. Thanks so much.
Don't change a thing about your videos Bumbi, both my partner and I watch your videos together and love your humour and presentation.

I love your explanations and tips.👌it’s really helpful that you mention important things in each recipe (like the temperature of the oil, etc). These are all helpful. Great paratha recipe too! 😊
I am glad you find my videos useful. Thank you
Excellent clear instructions Bumbi ❤
Thank you
You're a wonderful teacher. Thanks for a great vid.
Thank you
I've been making mexican corn/flour tortillas and rotis, so I think making parathas will be easy to make. I find atta flour best to make flat bread like rotis and I usually use ghee instead of vegetable oil because ghee has a better taste
Please do try it
You are so caring Bumbi... thinking of beginners.... God bless your endeavours ❤
Thanks for your kind words
I love these videos that show every part of the process. When I am standing in my kitchen I can watch again as I go through and it’s like having you there ❤ thanks for such a great video 💕💕

Thank you for this. Very helpful.
Thanks for watching
Looks pretty unanimous...we love Bumbi and your style!
I also noticed some fun sped up footage which i thought paired perfectly with the music.
On that note, the music reminded me of 1960s Italian western film, of which I am a big fan. Cheers!
Thanks for watching
I appreciate that you give the Indian name for flour and spices and anything else you use in your recipes as well as the English name. Thank you!!
Thanks
Im making chapati as a side dish for every curry, it’s so quick and easy AND healthy because of the whole wheat flour! It’s my absolute favourite!
Glad you like it
