    Paul, I’ve watched many of your videos. They are all good but this one really clicked for me. Setting the top of back swing then rotate body and let arms follow. Went to the range and worked on it and had one of my best ever ball striking days! Easily 10 more yards with my irons and on target. THANKS!

    Imagery is explained much better Paul, this changes my thinking to an extent where I feel my left arm must be “locked” almost , hinging at the top, then, hopefully I release with my legs starting the downswing with hips following, but the wrists want to rush the club through the ball at times, I’m anxious to try this

    Watching your videos has really opened up my eyes to the Golf swing. Executing properly is taking some time though. When I do swing relaxed the strike is great, not thinning or toeing! I can feel the difference. I really notice the tension, especially late in the round.

      Very good. Just need to stay focused on the concept and trust that swinging looser/easy will hit it just as far if not farther than hitting with the arms.

    Im always looking for new mind thoughts for the golf swing....the club is mass!....all the things you say ive done....i make air swings focusing on turning...loose wrists and releasing....it feels good...then step in and engage with the ball....when it all clicks...its amazing...but if i hold on..dont release ball is struck well but pushed right...and if focus on release and overdue it might go left...just off a little bit!...i got the principles down....i need repetition and different thinking engaging the ball...when i swing in the air...its magical i feel loose i release and follow through and finish on left foot...right foot on toes..club perpendicular to target line....but transitioning to engage the ball.....when my mind is focusing on one thought....the ball is just struck with force and goes......consistancy is what im looking for for every shot...i have the skill set...but mentally.....why does my feeling change from pracrice swings to real swings?....because there is a"ball" there!....i have to get that out of my mind and swing like there is no ball there....for me this is my final hurdle...im drilling at home 100 swings in air....i love tjis minset drill...the club is just mass.

    Paul, I truly believe in what you teach. Do you have any tips for those of us who tend to revert/fall back to old habits? I am so excited to get out and perfect the body swing and I want this to be my forever-swing after 8 years of learning the game from 100 different TH-cam coaches. You are brilliant thank you.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much. I appreciate it. I can also feel your pain. I tried everything too many years ago. Nothing worked and I was practicing daily. This is why I say things how I say them. Everything I do is testing on my students. You need to get into a routine where you check everything all of the time. The main cause of losing it is us getting greedy. As soon as this happens you will start either hitting with the arms or firing the lower so hard you come out of it and start blowing it right. So you need to know what you can handle and never go beyond it. This is hard to do.
      th-cam.com/video/glKnfVbhuXo/w-d-xo.html
      This is what you look for.
      Next you need to know exactly what I teach. The tips are great but I don't give it all away here. The follow through to me is the most important position in golf. This allows you to do the exact same swing every time. This is point B to your swing. So you hit point A (the top) and you know where you are going to swing to before you even swing Point B. In no way are you trying to hit or help the shot with the arms. You are basing the swing on torque (body coil) and forces (not disturbing the mass/club). These 2 things repeat 100% of the time in life. Hitting causes twisting. If you twist the face just a few degrees you will hit it sideways. So not hitting allows the mass to repeat. So grip, setup. Coil and hinge going back. The uncoil and rehinge. Point A To point B with powerless arms. That is it. I have mastered the arm unit so I am only ever working on the coil. I watch my ball and it tells me exactly what to do:

    Well done, Paul. This video is in line with your basic thoughts about the golf swing. Since most public course golfers who are not good golfers use their hands and arms to power the swing, there is still a long way to go in educating them. So don't change your focus too much because this "boring" repetition is still the most-needed instruction for thousands, if not millions, of amateur golfers. Approaching this same concept with different thoughts can be very helpful. Who knows what will be the thought that turns on the light!

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For sure. I just do what I do. At some point more and more people will find me then it keeps snowballing. Getting there but I would like it to get there faster as you said the majority of golfers are hitting with arms.

    Hi Paul… I think this is the one difference between the handicapped and professional golfer. It’s a death move to use the hands at the top of the back to initiate the downswing. All your drills tell us not to do this but especially with the driver we abandon the legs and let the arms back into the swing. My swing thought is to wait for the wrists to compress which slows the transition down and helps me to be in the correct position to drive my hips to face the target. Get it right 300 on the short stuff, wrong goodbye ball. Great tip Paul

    Great video, Paul. I get it. It's taken me two years to REALLY get the feel you describe. I find the wrists absolutely key, your oiled hinge is the feel. I think a good video for you to shoot would be loose wrists in the release. That's my focus, because in order for wrists to be loose after impact that must be loose prior to it. I have a tendency to help the ball through and the right hand to dominate, everything goes left. Wrists are pretty much all I think about now.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, just saw I didn't answer your question. I have quite a few release tips now. Not sure I have more to add at the moment. It's weird that it takes people a while to get the feeling. It took me 3 practice swings back in 1999. After doing them I applied this feeling to the ball. The ball and wanting to hit it is a powerful force. It is a totally different feeling. Just think if you completely turned off your arms you would have to use your legs and hips. Isn't this exactly what a little kid would be faced with using mom or dads clubs? So you need to see it. Hitting with the arms will never work. From the first ball you ever hit if you learned as an adult you did it wrong. So you need to learn a whole new way of doing it. You keep the arms completely turned off and use the legs and hips as the power source. You are not good at it so it takes a little work but if you do you will make the switch and never want to hit ever again.
      You are seeing the shots to the left as a bad thing where as I am seeing that as half right. All you would have to do to straighten that out is fire the lower from the top. If you body moves first you would hit it dead straight. We need to be on the same page. Watch:
      th-cam.com/video/bLskGy7rulo/w-d-xo.html
      Keep at it. This is new and different. Just do it a different way. Keep doing what you have been doing and you are not changing anything.

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have fixed countless people who took a break from golf get their swing back. It's easy because they have used their body in the past. Take the break and you start hitting with the arms (which will never work). I just need to get them to loosen the wrists and use their body again to power the swing.
      Watch this first to understand why taking a break lost your swing:
      th-cam.com/video/fuOJxv_22Hk/w-d-xo.html
      Work on this first:
      th-cam.com/video/M868QsTlGt4/w-d-xo.html
      th-cam.com/video/p4vASmOzkPg/w-d-xo.html
      th-cam.com/video/N-nGM6yN790/w-d-xo.html
      th-cam.com/video/yHEv7G9Z5-0/w-d-xo.html
      Get the ball hooking and loose the wrists. Once you can do that you then start firing the lower body harder/quicker/faster to straighten it out. Not sure what your downswing trigger is but something in your legs and hips you use to hit the ball.
      This is the easiest trigger:
      th-cam.com/video/RdphthCQ9VM/w-d-xo.html
      As you do this there is timing between the release and the legs and hips so you need to watch this to learn exactly how hard you need to fire your hips:
      th-cam.com/video/bLskGy7rulo/w-d-xo.html
      This is literally days or a week or two of work maximum to get it back.
      Keep me posted.

      Yep, slow down and loosen up. Hitting hard is never going to work. Your wrists are a hinge. They hinge and rehinge. A hinge is loose. So see your wrists as a hinge. Get that part. Then once you can do that you switch to using your legs and hips to hit the ball. Keep at it.

    I'm curious...based on your experiences, do you find that when "the light bulb goes on" and your students get this that they actually suddenly hit shots that go significantly longer and straighter? Just as an example; say one is hitting driver and shot after shot is 250 yards and then suddenly out if the blue something "clicks" and they hit a shot that goes 280 (again, actual numbers are just for example) or more? I find this fascinating, and you often mention your own epiphany moment years ago as being something like this. Many times I have spoken with friends while practicing that have hit balls and then "out of the blue" they report hitting a shot that goes significantly longer yet without knowing what they actually did? I myself have noted this phenomenon on occasion with my swing caddie where I'll be hitting shots averaging 101 mph and then suddenly get one that is 108 mph out of the blue? Is this a typical experience when your students "get this" (or you yourself got this?) to see such sudden jumps in numbers?

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, most would have a significant gain. Another light bulb moment would be someone finally realizing what they need to do and get a new feel for how to do it. Most would get significant results. The gain is when people finally loosen up and stop hitting with the arms. Just did a school this weekend. I do nothing and outdrive everyone. You can just hear the difference in sound my club makes versus everyone else but I am super loose in my wrists which creates a faster whip.

    • @kenhenley3904
      @kenhenley3904 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paulwilsongolf Very interesting...so the instantaneous spontaneous "ah-ha" moment is not myth! I didn't think so. Too many people I've known that have had this experience of hitting shots of similar result who then suddenly and unexpectedly hit a shot significantly longer and straighter while not knowing what they did differently! Tapping into that "unknown swing" is the key and thanks for the reply!

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is literally the first line of the sales video for my body swing product. Everyone I talk to has hit that one amazing shot 30-50 yards longer with an effortless feeling. The question is why couldn't you do it again? Answer: You tried to hit the next ball even farther did so with the arms. So you went right back to you old swing. The more you turn off the arms, the more you would use the body. So people need too turn the arms off ... completely. This is the swing I teach. So keep the arms loose and feel the body as the power source. Anyone can do this. Just a different way to do it.

    “Just let it go.” The four most helpful but counterintuitive words a struggling golfer will ever hear.
    For anyone just tuning into Paul’s channel, he emphasizes quite correctly that you have to change your mind in order to change your swing. Brains become as grooved in as bad swing mechanics. The beauty of these changes are you have to do less. Less thinking and simpler movements. So many of us convinced ourselves that a golf swing is a complicated thing, when in fact, it’s quite the opposite. Thanks, Paul.
