    In this video, Adam teaches you why this move should always start the takeaway. The lead shoulder always plays an important role in the takeaway because it allows the golfer to stay connected. Many golfer initiate the take away with their hands which leads to a disconnect and over the top swing. Try these drills and feels to stay connected and on plane.

    My biggest struggle with this was only focusing on the left shoulder move away led to my right hip not turning and left side moving towards the ball instead. The explanation of the right pocket moving back and as the left shoulder moves the club back is a great explanation of how it works!

    Two things I really love about this video in addition to everything you said, is not turning from ground but instead from shoulder and hip. The other one is holding the club with the right hand and tucking the elbow to the body and addressing the ball to determine the correct distance to the ball. Very nice and I am really enjoying the “straight putt no matter what” 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾. It is my putting alignment practice tool and it just fits in the golf bag perfectly. Love it.

    Lots of wisdom in this video clip. For one; (driver swing) - bottom should be stable and let arms/hands rotate through. I obviously struggle when trying to get more ‘power’ - having the hips/legs race through the downswing leaving the top half ‘behind’. I love how the golfer explained his swing as well - so easy to absorb. Thank you for the Porzak wisdom ❤❤

    Great video, my feel is the right elbow sits on my slightly large late 40s stomach. I just leave it there throughout the swing and just try and keep it from going long. Got this from watching your videos and it has made a huge difference. Will try incorporating this left shoulder move with it as well. Keep it up 👍

    I'm going through a total swing transition right now. Think of Faldo's wrist hinge preset drill from the 90's...that's actually been my swing the past 3 years. Right now my drives are in the gutter. I've researched a bunch of videos by several teachers to encourage me to get back to the normal swing pattern and not rely so much on such a radical wrist hinge at takeaway. All those guys are superb, but can get a little too technical for my taste.THIS however clicked right off the bat, because its so to-the- point. Cannot wait to get back on the range now.
    Great advice man, and so glad I found your channel.👍

    I went to a LIV tournament the other week and spent about 2 hours watching players on the range.
    So many of em were practicing their takeaways with lead shoulder/arm only.
    Some were even doing small swings and hitting balls like it.
    I've found that if I use the trail shoulder it pulls the club inside.

    Great and helpful video on so many fronts. One observation- in the slow motion he does not appear in transition to shift a lot of his weight onto his lead leg (like Mcllroy in slow mo pics) but he is very centered. Does this restrict his distance at all?

    • @Supermoneygang12
      @Supermoneygang12 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Any amateur trying to imitate a pros weight shift is going to wind up swaying instead. Staying centered over the ball is going to give him more distance than trying to throw his weight around.

    The "feel" i have is to initiate the swing with the upper body in unison, give in with the lead knee at the same time, start to fold the right ellbow (as righthander) not before completion of about 1/3rd of the backswing and after that just continue and bow the left wrist to a neutral position.
    Sounds complex, but it's a one-motion thought really.
    It's basically what you say. I only write this to make clear what i often observe: people "feel" different, and to make all of them to do the same motion, a teacher has to find the individual easiest "feel" analogy to make them convert the technique.

    Rules question: would the tucking of the shirt under your arm be considered a swing aid and prohibited during a round?

  • @Paulius-si3xx
    @Paulius-si3xx 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Adam, I was wondering what might cause left arm collapse at the top? As for me, on slow practice swings top position looks great, but when I do full swing with a ball left arm bends and everything collapses..

    • @PorzakGolf
      @PorzakGolf  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the shoulders don’t appropriately turn the left arm or wrap across the chest and cause it to bend… being able to keep a straight left arm is a function of the shoulders turning and the left arm, staying on the left side of the body. Let me know if this makes sense!

    0:45 when i straighten my trail leg it doesn't automatically mean what you said. The straight trail leg in my back swing helps me feel "end range of motion" in my hips. Once I feel that I stop the hip rotation then lets the arms catch up. Once I feel the arms "end range of motion" I instantly start rotating hips which then allows my arms to swing down. Helping create easy lag/power.. Also I don't feel pressure in my back heel as you say. The pressure is in the palm of my front foot mostly during my back swing
    The only problem would be if I keep the trail leg straight in the downswing. To me the straight trail leg is an elite level swing. If you cant do it then it's probably because you are not flexible enough

    • @PorzakGolf
      @PorzakGolf  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      …there has never been a sport where a straight trail leg has lead to more power and efficiency. Throwing a baseball or football with a straight trail leg? Batting with a straight trail leg? Hitting a serve or ground stroke in tennis with a straight trail leg?running a race and starting by pushing off the block with a straight trial leg? Nothing explosive comes from that. The lack of build up of ground pressure surely leaves extra yards and accuracy off the table for you. I promise if we had you in person for a lesson we would prove this to you and get you more distance and power! I’m sorry but we would NEVER suggest anyone looking to play better golf with the most efficient swing possible to do as you mentioned here. Sure glad you feel it works for you though…You’re truly one of a kind!

    • @TheIncomparableGolfer
      @TheIncomparableGolfer 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PorzakGolf I completely agree with what you say about not being explosive without having flex in the leg. If you watch my swing, you will notice I never keep it "straight through impact." My leg will straighten for a second just so I can feel my hip turn max out. Then I return my knee which helps start the hip turn in my downswing. I know it sounds unnecessary, but for me it helps with rhythm and timing..
      I'm in the Southern California area a lot, so maybe taking a lesson or 2 wouldn't hurt. Thanks for replying. Your videos have been helpful for me lately.. 🤙🏼
