Tom, I am 89, and at one time, I played competitively with a handicap of 4. After having 5 operations (my right hip was replaced twice), I lost my swing. I started to watch your lessons on Utube, and I like your easy style of lessons. With all of my health problems, I am too old to attend your school, but I still have the enthusiasm to get my game reasonably back by following your excellent instructions. I wish I could have private lessons with you, but that's not going to happen. What's in my DNA is I love to practice and have started following your instructions, which are beginning to work. Joe Galiardi
I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Joe, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction and teaching style are resonating well with you. Thanks so much for sharing your enthusiasm as well as your continued desire to embrace the challenges of this greatest of games! God bless, Tom
This is so wholesome and awesome. Exhibit A: "Utube" and Exhibit B: He added a signature to his comment God bless this old man. I hope he gets a hole in one on his next par 3
SagutoGolf is the best place I have found to improve my swing, and it has improved a lot. Swinging with much less thought and much more confidence. One of the most powerful golf TH-cam channels for those who are trying to get better at the game.

Thank you, I’m a 2 handicap, scrambling all the time. I came across you videos and I starting changing my swing two weeks ago I am now averaging 4 under every time I play, I used to hit quite a few greens now I miss one or two a round. I hope more golfers pay attention such easy changes. I feel like I can shoot a course record every time I tee it up anywhere. Priceless, Thanks Tom, truly grateful

Tom...I really appreciate your teaching and how simple you make the golf swing for all of us...I'm a one-plane golfer, where I setup on my impact plane...that is, my hands are raised into an ulnar deviated, uncocked position. This matches my club shaft angle at impact. What is your opinion of this golfing method? I'm a scratch player who has used this method for 3 years.
Hi Chris, I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you! Although there are distinct differences as you mention, I have heard from golfers who have been successful in melding my Stack and Tilt instruction with a single plane "Moe Norman method" as there are some definite shared features - particularly with regard to the very centered, connected, weight-forward nature of both along with the one-plane action. S&T is a complete golf swing system based on data from the best golf ball strikers - and Moe Norman would certainly be included among them. The S&T folks determined, based on a study of these ball striking legends, that they all had 3 things in common (the 3 main golf fundamentals): 1. Hit the ground in the same spot every time (consistent crispy contact) 2. Have enough length to play the golf course well (power) 3. Be able to have a predictable curve (accuracy). A player MUST be able to do those 3 things to be good at golf, and since you are playing to scratch it's apparent that you are! Keep up the great work!! Tom PS: Since you are liking my channel's content, I think you will also enjoy my FREE mini course - “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” - where you can learn some key aspects of the S&T swing system I teach in a more structured manner and gain a better understanding of the similarities and differences between it and your style. This is the simplest and most effective golf tip I’ve ever tried and I don’t even own the lag shot. I was struggling with my irons over the past year and seeing my Handicap drift up. I literally tried everything. At one point I just said hey I’m getting older just accept it. I watched this video yesterday and then went and played nine holes just thinking about the hands. First hole I striped it, down the middle of the fairway, and then I hit it to 5 feet for birdie! I haven’t hit the ball that crisp in quite a while. The rest of the round was similar. It was almost automatic. It’s mind-boggling how effective this was without really changing anything else. Thanks again for an awesome tip. Cheers!

Took some of your tips to the course yesterday. Why did I have to have one of the best ball striking days of my life? Now I'm gonna have to commit to this S&T thing lol. I'm amazed by you hitting crispy straight shots with the lagshot. I actually have one (collecting dust in my closet). I took it to the range a few times and sprayed everything to the right and nearly took out an old lady who was hitting balls next to me. I said probably need to put this thing away for awhile. Time to face old demons and get it back out. If I can hit that thing straight with his advice, then I will know, all of the legends of this man are true.
Welcome to "the dark side", Jeff, where the spoils of "conventional" instruction - chronic inconsistency, physical pain, and endless frustration - yield to the fruits of body-friendly enjoyment of this great game for a lifetime. 😆 Seriously, this powerful, consistent, low-maintenance Stack and Tilt swing system is designed to provide a lifetime of great ball striking, and since it is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everything in between, and inclusive of the best players in the world. I give all credit where it is due - including Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett for analyzing and interpreting the science, and to those who preceded them with their empirical observations of the game's best ball strikers and all their subsequent chalkboard number-crunching. I just do my best to take what they have built and convey it in my own simplified teaching style (which is fully on display in the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school - saguto.golf ). So yes - wipe the dust off that Lag Shot, embrace the challenge, exorcise those old swing demons, and take up new residence in the Land of Ball Striking Bliss!! Tom (The "Legend"??.... 😎)
Best tip ever for me Tom. It makes the swing so easy. I have a hitting mat that shows my swing. Since following the advice in this tip every swing is identical. I use the tip about keeping the grip aimed at my stomach then when everything is moving I switch to the hands. It all feels SO smooth. Thanks for all your excellent advice. Rich

Tom, haven’t watched your videos in awhile, but this title hit home as lately I’ve lost my iron shots. I liked your talks of the Jag Shot anyhow it’s heavy except with the right swing. I also like letting the hands lead and get wait to get to the range. Thanks.
My pleasure, Jack, and no worries regarding that trail hand. Some like to sense it applying power to the strike, others don not. :Let y our ball striking and shot shape be your guide! By the way, that is precisely why I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the desired positions, motions, and ball striking results. This is one reason why the comprehensive, structured, step-by-step learning platform of my online school is so effective, and why thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many seasoned, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result (and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews ). I love this swing and how you show how easy it is. Your videos go out to millions of wanna-be golfers and they help a lot. However, here is the thing you and most TH-camr golf instructors seem to be oblivious to. Most weekend golfers, of which there are millions, see you making your videos from some nice turf at a driving range or even on a golf course where you can show us a nice neat divot after every hit. As a rule, most of us do not have access to turf to practice. By an incredibly high percentage, we do not have access to this pristine environment to practice. Municipal Golf courses and driving ranges have closed off most if not all access to "turf practice". We are now restricted to crappy old worn out dirty mats and rubber tees where there is no way to know if we are getting a divot. This environment for us, makes transferring how we have learned to hit a ball on a dirty old, worn out mat to the golf course. It would help us if TH-camr instructors showed us more about how to hit off these types of surfaces and transfer to the course.
Hi Phil, I appreciate your kind words, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you!! If you go through my channel's archives you'll find numerous videos where I'm hitting off of a mat in my backyard. While I understand that many folks do not have access to nice turf ranges, the bottom line is that golf is played on grass and my instruction is directed towards helping people to become better golfers on the course. Anyway, with regard to hitting off mats - which tend to do a great job of masking poorly struck shots - here are a couple of different suggestions that can help you discern between crispy and soggy impact: 1) Get yourself an old hand towel and fold it in half. Place it no more than 2 inches behind your ball, thereby requiring you to miss the towel and make ball first contact on your downswing. As you improve, move the towel closer to the ball. The small thickness of a one-half folded towel will not impede your backswing takeaway. 2) If you can, put down a thick chalk line or some inexpensive spray foot powder on the mat about an inch in front of the ball. Try to hit the ball first and then the chalk or powder. The mark on the mat - or lack thereof - will give you instant visual feedback. 3) A Divot Board can really step up the effectiveness and efficiency of your practice sessions, helping you to groove a crispy pure impact (with or without a ball) while also eliminating those "false positives" as it provides the exact type of impact feedback that hitting off of mats is incapable of delivering. Here's a video in which I demonstrated it: th-cam.com/video/pNGjL9IbTL0/w-d-xo.html If interested you can get your Divot Board here: www.divotboard.com?sca_ref=3794896.raX4rnwQz1 (use coupon code Toms10 at checkout for 10% OFF and FREE SHIPPING) Thanks, Tom
Good lesson Tom. I've noticed when I'm on plane at top of driver backswing, everything feels light and the club follows right back down the line with great results. Now I've got to do the same with my irons. Also love the hands idea. Recently have been trying too let them lead the swing, but wasn't sure how to do it. Can't wait to get back out there!!
Sounds good, Tom, and as I've said on numerous occasions it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some driving range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: th-cam.com/video/o0xscMyN3v8/w-d-xo.html Embrace the challenge and have fun out there!! Tom
@SagutoGolf The next day I went out and had my best round. Reason: Driver was going 20 yards longer and down and in the fairway. Makes golf alot easier.
Hi tom love your teaching. Hope you can see my swing changes. The right arm fold in wrist hinge video. And this video have me hit a tiny crispy fade instead of a draw that was very unreliable thanks mate from aus.
This is a great tip, not a technical change but a mindset change. As Tom says 'crispy'. I have the UK vesion of the lagshot called a g-force. Will try it with this new mindset.

I tore my quadricep playing padel all week plus football at 54 years old, anyway I had only played golf about a dozen times in about 3 years, so I thought I'll go back to golf since I couldn't play any other sports until it healed. I started with a 28 handicap, but before I went on the Saturday I saw your video and watched one, went down to the driving range and practiced for about an hour, instantly I new this was great, the Saturday came and who won (ME) 😁 The handicap went down 😒 Next week I came second 😀 And so on third, then fourth. My handicap now 15 not bad for watching one video and 1 hour practice. Thanks. Saguto⛳️

One of the most valuable things that I've learned about golf since I came back to the sport three years ago is too many swing thoughts during a round are detrimental to my game. Famous sports psychologist Bob Rotella has interviewed golf greats like Tom Kite, for example, and asked him what swing thoughts did he have that helped him win tournaments. His response was "I didn't have any swing thoughts." That was astounding to Dr. Rotella. In his book "Golf is Not a Game of Perfect" he talks about how the range is where to work on your game and have all these swing thoughts but when you get on the golf course, you accept the swing you bring to the course that day. When he consults with touring pros he does "allow" one swing thought if you HAVE to. The one swing thought that seems to help me the most is "head still." I tend to move back and away from the ball during the back swing or I'll lose my spine tilt in the down swing by standing up and extending too soon.
Yes - I wholeheartedly agree. You've got to think to learn, and then once you've learned you don't have to think anymore...😎 I suggest to my students and members that they get to the point where they are focused on their target and shot type when they are on the course, trying to limit their mechanical thoughts to one or two at the most, even during the learning phase. This prevents “paralysis by analysis” and enables them to go out and enjoy a round of golf as opposed to being bogged down by swing mechanics and trudging through a hapless round of "golf swing". Tom
THANK YOU! I've had the Lag Shot for almost a year and didn't know how to properly use it. This will be a huge help for me in using it as an effective training aid. I'm hoping I can get my scores below 100 this summer.

The danger of watching too many golf videos is that it can clutter your mind, like you describe in your opening. The advantage is that out of all of those tips and ideas, every now and then, one will be a light bulb that goes off and this was one for me. For whatever reason, the concept of the puppeteer / puppet struck a chord with me and helped reinforce, in my minds eye, what I have been working on with my instructor. Well done!
Here’s why the LagShot club works. The path of the club head up to the top is directed by where mass in the toe points at the point in the swing where the internal rotation of the trail arm occurs. When that occurs at the ideal point for hands and club head in 3D space relative to the center of rotation for the swing hand follow club head in the same path (groove) and that unification of path create the feeling of lightness. When the club head is to far inside or outside the hands when the internal rotation occurs the club will feel heavy in the hands and the shaft of the LagShot will bend. So the key feeling in the backswing the LagShot helps reinforce is the ideal internal rotation movement of trail elbow vs. trail hand - elbow forward / hand backwards - which is what creates the ideal leverage to guide the club on the ideal balanced path. When the relative movement of trail elbow and hand is ideal the internal rotation extension in the trail hand changes the toe direction in a way that keeps the club head mass pulling strongly on hands - why it doesn’t droop and feel heavy. Instead it feels like there is a hot air ballon instead of a heavy club head on the end of the shaft lifting the lead arm and pulling shoulders around hips effortlessly. So watch the position of trail elbow relative to hands and toe direction when swing feels like it is on rails.
I have been playing (hacking) golf for almost 10 years and have been extremely inconsistent to say the least. Every time I want to hit a shot, there are a hundred swing thoughts in my head. Keep the lead arm straight, dip the shoulder, keep your head steady, follow through, tuck the arms in and and and… and of course I would forget 95 out of the 100 swing thoughts and the rest is obvious. Today I saw this tip and I thought try it. New swing thought “Swing with your hands”. I went to the range today and hit a large bucket of balls. I probably topped about 7 out of 120 shots and rest all went straight with the distance I wanted with all the clubs. Thank You Thank You Thank You.. Who knew?? Forget every swing thought and keep just one.

Hey Saguto! I enjoyed that one so much here in Great Britain, I pulled out the Gibson Les Paul half way through and cranked the Mesa California. No - not the Fender Strat. I wanted some serious twang. 👍
Your fairway wood lesson might be the best I've had. I grew up learning you were supposed to sweep fairway woods. I watched your lesson last night- was hesitant to try it but your other lessons rock so I tried it today. I was floored. I was striping 3 woods off the deck like a tour pro- around 290. Of course I hit a few bad ones when I didn't make sure the set up was proper, but 80% of them were flushed. I am still floored. What can I say Tom- you are a freakin' guru!!! Thanks man!
Unfortunately, such sorcery from this dark underworld of golf instruction rarely finds its way to the mainstream because if too many folks found out about it the mainstream would then be rendered irrelevant....... I'm glad to know that I'm earning your trust, Butch, even when the stuff I'm saying goes against the grain of generally accepted principles (which, I suppose, is rather often). I think we've reached a new level in our relationship.....😆😆 Awesome job with your 3W!!! 💪💪 TS
I'm totally with you Tom on this one. It's very important the the golf swing stay completely simple, because it is a simple thing. It only goes south when its basic principles are not understood and we start adding complexities to it to compensate for that lack of understanding.
Thank you for that, Michael, and your comment is absolutely spot on. The way I see it, we can either simply put the already existing natural laws to work and thereby build a powerful, body-friendly, repeatable, low-maintenance motion, or we can twist, morph, torque, contrive, and otherwise mess with the principles of physics and geometry in an effort to better suit some ill-conceived whims, all the while recognizing that at the point of impact those pre-existing laws are going to be the only things that matter to the ball. Tom

Most amazing video ever. Tried at the driving range today and what a feeling! Could finally mash the 3-iron consistently. Asked the golf ball "Do you wanna get rocked?" Hit the three iron and it was like a Rocket Yeah, in the air, a pure satellite of love.

I had golf teachers tell me to “feel the club head”. Never happened. Now, thanks to Tom, I know it isn’t necessary. Move your hands where you want them and the club head will follow. Thanks Tom!

I give all credit where it is due - including Mr. Kelley for writing the "technical manuscript" based on empirical data from the game's best ball strikers, Mac O'Grady's unique observations and instruction, and Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett for analyzing, interpreting, and assembling the science into a digestible format. I just do my best to convey the physics and geometry in my own simplified teaching style (which is fully on display in the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school - saguto.golf ). @@SagutoGolf Im star struck thanks for the reply! One quick comment on your list of great ball strikers, you forgot Grant Waite and George Knudson. Though Knudson isnt known as a ST guy, alot of his swing seems to exhibit those characteristics. Great video, Tom! I applied what you said and my first three approach shots today were all within ten feet of the hole. Now if I could sink a few putts, it would have been even better!
I'm glad this lesson resonated with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and taking it out to the course!! Now get to work with that putter!! 😆 TS
Love the channel! I hit my irons really good following your advice. But I struggle so much with topping my driver. Can you do more driver tips? I have watched them all including the online school you offer. Thanks
Keep your head behind the ball on driver and your low point is a couple inches behind the ball. Your head staying behind helps you hit up. Keep your weight forward though like on your irons. Type in saguto golf driver. His video should come up! Saguto is the goat!
It is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some driving range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: th-cam.com/video/o0xscMyN3v8/w-d-xo.html Beyond that, if you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content. Good straight forward stuff. On that note practice on a lawn before mowing. The swing path of the driver club head in the grass will show exactly how far to stand away from the ball.
Another excellent lesson. If your not having fun, your not doing it right. Tom's lessons are making me have much, much more fun, because I'm doing things correct for the first time in my life. It is great when the path of least resistance is the best way. This lesson will really benefit me for times when I'm playing and can feel if every shot is easy or hard. I will use this on my practice swing before I hit. I now know if it's not easy, its not right. I'll take practice swings until it feels easy, before hitting a shot. Thank you!!
I'm glad you enjoyed this lesson, Scott, and I like how you are going about incorporating it into your pre-shot rehearsal swing. It's quite interesting how the correct use of physics and geometry gives a nearly weightless feel to the club, right? Thanks for your kind words and support, and keep on having fun out there!! Tom

Tom, I am going to have to get you a xmas present now. You taught me the crisp, and today I got the side of coleslaw but I'm still working on the baked beans. Thanks a ton! This is like my 30th comment but you deserve all the thanks!
Went to the range today and out of a large bucket I only sliced 5 balls. Very happy. I am using 0 power on my swing and the 9 iron goes 130-150 with ease. Incredible teaching Tom MY BOI!@@SagutoGolf
What up Tom, my swing was a jibberee mess because I mind fooked the hell out of it. But I play with a cool group of guys that has been subtle enough to let me know that I was doing too much. The final straw for me to make a change was when I was in course and some one playing just ahead of my group said “ how the hell you contact the ball with your swing. It does not make sense, but you are making contact”. The problem was I found a way to make contact with my Barkley like swing, but I’m correcting it now and the group of guys I play with have noticed and said it is getting better. Thanks for the hand path attention. You solidify this other person I found on TH-cam that wants to educate. His name is Lee Travino. He said that good golfers know where their hands are at at all times. Thanks
Very true words spoken by that "other person" you found. I wonder if he has any credibility though? Its crazy that you just put this video out because i just noticed today at lunch how i focus so much on the club head and the path the club head is moving on and dont put a lot of focus on my hand path.
If what you are presently doing serves you well, Jason, then that's fine. However, the many folks who battle the "hit" instinct will do well to feel the hand path and learn to trust the the cub head is going to follow. Tom

absolutely, that is just it. in the past we have been told to do all kinds of things with the clubhead; but, it is the grip end of the club that we should focus on. so often, players like myself, start trying to feel the clubhead and control the clubhead from the moment we take our grip. but, our grip pressure should remain light until we feel the grip end of the shaft press up against the heel pad of our left hand. this enables us to fucus on controlling the grip end of the club with our hands.
Welcome back, Andrew!! I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating well with you!! Thanks so much for sharing your improvement and keep up the great work!! Tom
Went from high 70s - mid 80s to mid 70s after watching. Next step is scratch golf! Keep it simple. Do you have any videos for recovery shots out of tough lies?
I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you, Kyle; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play!! 💪💪 Yes - it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: th-cam.com/video/o0xscMyN3v8/w-d-xo.html With regard to hitting out of the rough: 1) Place some additional weight forward in setup. 2) Play the ball a bit further back in the stance. 3) Firm up your grip a bit (without adding tension). 4) Emphasize the tilt component to go along with that extra forward weight as you're going to need more of a descending blow to extract to ball. 4) The thicker the cabbage, the more loft you're going to need. 5) In heavy rough expect the grass to grab your clubface and close it, affecting both starting direction and curvature. Make necessary alignment adjustments to compensate for this. 6) Take only what the lie gives you. Sometimes that means just chipping it back into play. Don't go from trouble to trouble. Tom❤ Tom❤ Tom❤ I have been a member of your KFC club for a little while. I've spent hours watching all your teachings etc and they are pretty cool. But today I watched your video on hand path. OMG Brilliant.!!!!! I put on a Kiss concert and went in the yard. Just kept saying keep the hands on the same path. Over and over again I practiced and then started hitting some balls with my 7 iron. What a difference 😍 Crispy KFC and Buttery mashed potatoes 😍😍 Thank you so much. It was like finding a long lost friend. Thank you again 🙏🏻
This "hands hitting the ball" concept also helped me stop flipping at impact and get real ball compression. Now I swing the hands through the ball without thinking about the club head. If the rest of the swing is ok, I get a great lag and powerful compression where i feel like I'm trapping the ball and it just explodes off the club face and fisses long and spinny. I feel like I'm playing real golf for the first time.
I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated so well with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and achieving that beautiful compression!! 💪💪 Thanks so much for sharing your success and keep up the great work!! You would either need to fashion some type of weighted base for the stick. Or if that's not possible you can lay it on the ground on an appropriate inward angle and use it as a guide to trace the hand path. Not as effective for this but it can still help for sure.
Tom your so entertaining. I know your having fun . Your living proof " do something you love the money will follow " You may not be the richest man . But your videos are worth gold . Keep up the great work

Tom! Always looking forward to your input! I have been using the single plane swing for a while now and have recently gone with two other things. One is going to a triangular move in the swing with emphasis on the left shoulder. I have not yet been brave enough to use a weight forward with minimum transfer on the backswing. I'm getting there though. You'll have me converted yet! :-)
Ah yes... The dark side of golf. Evil swing sorcery. The cult that is quietly, surreptitiously gathering lost swings from the vast purgatorial abyss of failed "conventional" instruction and leading them to the way and the truth of a method rooted in the unchanging principles of physics and geometry. Creating heinously horrifying creatures of repeatability, predictable ball flight, and effortless power. Like a hideous and unstoppable amoeba slowly yet steadily consuming the golfing globe. Resistance is futile, John; you will be assimilated. Mwahahaha.....Mwahahahaha..... 😎 TS

@@SagutoGolf LOL Amen! I have a grip question for you too. Do I submit on site or here? Basically, had a dog think my right ring finger was the dog treat. 2 months later it's healed, but weak and limited flexibility due to scar tissue. It will eventually work out.. but any thoughts on how to grip with right hand during interim? I use interlock but it's a bit painful. Haven't used baseball grip in years. Thanks! - Rob
Does the grip trainer put everyone's hands on the club in the exact same position? If so then it's not accounting for physiological or preferential differences. However, it could perhaps represent a starting point for how the hands attach relative to each other.
I know they said they would be replenishing their stock of 7's, Barry, but I guess they can't keep up with the demand being created by these videos...😎 No matter - the pitching wedge will work just as well, and yes - it is difficult, and that's why it's such an effective tool for ingraining and grooving a KFCrispy motion!! Well, Alan, most are familiar with the phrase "garbage in, garbage out. Applied to the steady diet of "shift & lift" golf instruction over the past several decades, it's more like "garbage in, garbage in, garbage in, garbage in, garbage in, garbage in, garbage in", so yeah - that's a lot of crap to purge. Anyway, results confirm that countless folks across the globe have successfully taken the trash out and are now enjoying the best golf of their lives through this channel and particularly the online school, so no need to schedule that cerebral cortex lobotomy procedure quite yet...... Tom,
I am 89, and at one time, I played competitively with a handicap of 4.

Hi Chris,
I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you!
Tom

Cheers!
That's awesome, Gerry!! 💪💪

@@SagutoGolf Thanks for the link Tom. I will definitely check it out. Cheers.
Seriously, this powerful, consistent, low-maintenance Stack and Tilt swing system is designed to provide a lifetime of great ball striking, and since it is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everything in between, and inclusive of the best players in the world.
Rich
I'm glad to know that this tip resonated with you, Rich.

Tom, haven’t watched your videos in awhile, but this title hit home as lately I’ve lost my iron shots. I liked your talks of the Jag Shot anyhow it’s heavy except with the right swing. I also like letting the hands lead and get wait to get to the range. Thanks.
Welcome back!

Hi Tom thanks for your prompt reply you're right about the three right-hand with Elgin but when I used my right hand I hook thanks for your help Jack
Hi Phil,
I appreciate your kind words, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you!!
If you go through my channel's archives you'll find numerous videos where I'm hitting off of a mat in my backyard. While I understand that many folks do not have access to nice turf ranges, the bottom line is that golf is played on grass and my instruction is directed towards helping people to become better golfers on the course.
Anyway, with regard to hitting off mats - which tend to do a great job of masking poorly struck shots - here are a couple of different suggestions that can help you discern between crispy and soggy impact:
1) Get yourself an old hand towel and fold it in half.
Here's a video in which I demonstrated it: th-cam.com/video/pNGjL9IbTL0/w-d-xo.html If interested you can get your Divot Board here: www.divotboard.com?sca_ref=3794896.raX4rnwQz1 (use coupon code Toms10 at checkout for 10% OFF and FREE SHIPPING)

To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some driving range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: th-cam.com/video/o0xscMyN3v8/w-d-xo.html
Embrace the challenge and have fun out there!!
I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you, Ross, and I hope it performs well when you put it into practice!

I tore my quadricep playing padel all week plus football at 54 years old, anyway I had only played golf about a dozen times in about 3 years, so I thought I'll go back to golf since I couldn't play any other sports until it healed. I started with a 28 handicap, but before I went on the Saturday I saw your video and watched one, went down to the driving range and practiced for about an hour, instantly I new this was great, the Saturday came and who won (ME) 😁
The handicap went down 😒
Next week I came second 😀
And so on third, then fourth.
My handicap now 15 not bad for watching one video and 1 hour practice. Thanks. Saguto⛳️
That's awesome, Billy!! 💪💪

You've got to think to learn, and then once you've learned you don't have to think anymore...😎
I suggest to my students and members that they get to the point where they are focused on their target and shot type when they are on the course, trying to limit their mechanical thoughts to one or two at the most, even during the learning phase.

Well done!
Thanks Kenneth - I'm glad to know that this lesson resonated with you, and I appreciate your sharing that!
Tom
Hi Tom-Another great thought. I'm semi-ballbound but this will help me lose this tendency. We'll see tomorrow. Be good-Russ
I hope it performed well for you, Russ!
Awesome!! I'm so glad to know that this lesson resonated with you. Excellent job building it into your swing so quickly and effectively!
Thanks for sharing your success and keep up the great work!!

Tom great video. With the lag shot do you still do everything you say as in weight forward straight arms through contact etc.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Adam! And yes - nothing changes in that regard. The Lag Shot simply confirms that it works!

Hey Saguto! I enjoyed that one so much here in Great Britain, I pulled out the Gibson Les Paul half way through and cranked the Mesa California. No - not the Fender Strat. I wanted some serious twang. 👍
Everyone can benefit from a bit of that Link Wray groove, Roger............. 😎
Rock on!
TS
Your fairway wood lesson might be the best I've had. I grew up learning you were supposed to sweep fairway woods. I watched your lesson last night- was hesitant to try it but your other lessons rock so I tried it today. I was floored. I was striping 3 woods off the deck like a tour pro- around 290. Of course I hit a few bad ones when I didn't make sure the set up was proper, but 80% of them were flushed. I am still floored. What can I say Tom- you are a freakin' guru!!! Thanks man!
He's the golf guru who shows how to have mo fun striping it pure off the deck. Thanks
I think we've reached a new level in our relationship.....😆😆
Awesome job with your 3W!!! 💪💪
TS
Tom
We need greater understanding that permeates the golf psyche. ⛳️ We need need mo. Thanks
I took his ideas and golfed yesterday kept thinking of not moving the wrists and I had 4 par chances. Best golf I’ve played

Thanks Tom!
Yep. I suppose it's not unlike working a drumstick with your hand and confidently knowing where the business end is going to hit.

This body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance Stack and Tilt swing system is designed to provide a lifetime of great ball striking, and since it is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everything in between, and inclusive of the best players in the world.
Have a great weekend!!
Tom
@@SagutoGolf Im star struck thanks for the reply! One quick comment on your list of great ball strikers, you forgot Grant Waite and George Knudson. Though Knudson isnt known as a ST guy, alot of his swing seems to exhibit those characteristics. My golf machine teacher loves loves loves Grant's swing btw, and said the same as you that Tiger considers his move one of the best. Ben Hogan also said the same of Kundson. :)

Now get to work with that putter!! 😆
TS
If you continue to struggle with the driver, then as a school member I recommend that you look into the coaching options available to you so we can get that driver figured out: noodle.saguto.golf/sagutogolf/chat-with-sagutogolf

Awesome, Jason!! It will serve your swing very well.

Good straight forward stuff. On that note practice on a lawn before mowing. The swing path of the driver club head in the grass will show exactly how far to stand away from the ball.
Thanks Scott - I'm glad you enjoyed it and appreciate your lawn tip!

I mean beyond just 6 major championships, that is..... 😎

Tom
@@SagutoGolf I have a very good sense of the club face but I think because my focus is on the club head that is why I bring it too inside. Some further testing is in progress

Hey Tom, when you are taking the club back in this video are you turning the toe of the club up?
HI Matt,
There are no contrived actions in my swing. The arms, wrists, hands, and - ultimately - clubhead are simply responding to the swing motion without any manipulations involved. Here are some additional lessons on this topic:

absolutely, that is just it. in the past we have been told to do all kinds of things with the clubhead; but, it is the grip end of the club that we should focus on. so often, players like myself, start trying to feel the clubhead and control the clubhead from the moment we take our grip. but, our grip pressure should remain light until we feel the grip end of the shaft press up against the heel pad of our left hand. this enables us to fucus on controlling the grip end of the club with our hands.
Thanks for your excellent comment as always - I'm glad to know that this lesson resonated with you!

Went from high 70s - mid 80s to mid 70s after watching. Next step is scratch golf! Keep it simple. Do you have any videos for recovery shots out of tough lies?
Do you do this on longer irons as well? Longer irons I tend to over draw but not a hook?
I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you, Kyle; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play!! 💪💪
Yes - it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. With regard to hitting out of the rough:
1) Place some additional weight forward in setup.
Remember one of Dirty Harry's famous quotes: "A man's got to know his limitations..."
Thanks so much for sharing your improvement and keep up the great work!!

@@SagutoGolf Once I get this locked in properly I'll organise some lessons Tom, to do stack and tilt properly. I'm in New Zealand.
Thanks so much for sharing your success and keep up the great work!!
Tom
PS: Now that you've had a taste of the crispy KFC ball striking bliss I've been talking about, perhaps you are ready for the full buffet? To this end I invite you to check out my online school where you can take your learning - and your game - to the next level. But don't just take my word for it; have a look at the unsolicited testimonials of some of the thousands of folks from across the globe - including many seasoned, low-handicap, competitive players - who are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews
any tips for using alignment sticks like that at a non-grass driving range?
You would either need to fashion some type of weighted base for the stick. Or if that's not possible you can lay it on the ground on an appropriate inward angle and use it as a guide to trace the hand path. Not as effective for this but it can still help for sure.
Boss tips!! Thanks Sa-Goat-O!!!! 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
LOL!! Thanks, James - I'm glad you enjoyed today's lesson!!

Tom your so entertaining. I know your having fun . Your living proof " do something you love the money will follow " You may not be the richest man . But your videos are worth gold . Keep up the great work
I'm as rich as I need to be thanks to comments like yours!
I sincerely appreciate your very kind words, and I'm glad to know that you are enjoying and benefiting from my instruction content.
Thanks so much!
Tom

Hey Tom. Can you use a ball tracker so we can see your ball path. Great videos. Thanks
Hi Steven,
I do have a number of videos on this channel where I've used a shot tracer. Here are just a few of them:

Once again, great advice 👍
Thanks Erick - I'm glad you enjoyed it!!

Thanks for this tip Tom. I just told my puppet to shut the heck up - I'm in charge lol. Your vids always help me.
Keep on keepin' on. - Rob from Clover, SC
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Rob!
Yes - for many folks the puppet is their master, and therefore they must beat it into submission. This is best done while simultaneously singing Toby Keith's "Who's Your Daddy".....😎
Have fun out there in Clover!

Thanks! - Rob
Your videos have come a long way. Great job and keep up the good work. 👍
Thanks Howard - I'm glad to know that you are enjoying my content!!

Saguto 2024! Make America Crispy Again!! #MACA Golf!
LOL!! I like it, Caleb, and I appreciate your support now and in 2024!!

Hey Saguto…. What are your thoughts on grip club trainers?
Does the grip trainer put everyone's hands on the club in the exact same position? If so then it's not accounting for physiological or preferential differences. However, it could perhaps represent a starting point for how the hands attach relative to each other.
Peter Cowan has a great analogy.. wring the towel.. opposing forces in the grip..
Did you get the new PXG irons?
Yes! The new Gen 6's. Love 'em!!
@@SagutoGolf Gold!
Great tips again
Thanks again, Lenard!
I bought a lagshot but all the had available was the wedge. Out of stock on the 7i. That sucker is hard to hit KFC crispy. Will keep working on it.
I know they said they would be replenishing their stock of 7's, Barry, but I guess they can't keep up with the demand being created by these videos...😎
No matter - the pitching wedge will work just as well, and yes - it is difficult, and that's why it's such an effective tool for ingraining and grooving a KFCrispy motion!!
TS
The irons should be back in stock any day! We had to put in an extra order to prepare for Saguto Season ;-)
Tom is awesome!! I can relate!! Now I just need to get rid of 45yrs of crap between my ears!! Well also how not to swing just my arms!! Kid is a Krispy Genius!!🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for your kind words and ongoing support. Let's make it a KFCrispy 2024!!
Tom
i always think of the back of my left hand as representing the square clubface. As long as the back of my left hand is moving toward the target at impact, its butter.
Tom, you are the best period!
Thanks - I appreciate that!!
This right here is GOLD.
Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed this lesson and I hope it performs well for you!!
Tom
Thank you
My pleasure!!
