It gets overlooked that before almost all of Jennifer's attacks, she says something along the lines that she wants her victims scared/hopeless etc. I think it suggests how scared and hopeless she must have been during her being attacked. Also this movie kinda flips male/females dynamic in movies. Not only we got TWO female leads (when that happens? especially 15 years ago), but men are treated as dispensable part of the movie, it's men who are in danger (being attacked but also simple walk in a park in the night is framed as dangerous), it's Needy who gave her sweater to her boyfriend etc. It's silly, it's campy and it definitely was unfairly critiqued when it came out. I also love that usually in horror movies it is a virgin who survives/is the strongest but in this case Jennifer sexual experience is what "saved" her and gave her power.
@@gabnel1000 Part of it is that the marketing kind of set the movie up to fail, they tried appealing to teen boys with Megan Fox and then it was a different movie than was shown, instead of playing to the planned target audience of teen girls. Then of course the critics were so far from the target audience, not to mention the fact that so many critics don’t bother to critique anything other than “I don’t like it movie bad” 🤷♀️ a lot of things lead to it being critiqued unfairly
my thoughts exactly when i watched the movie. And the way chip's mom wanted him to carry a pepperspray for safety, the same way parent's make their daughters carry it...i think thats a clear indication that what you're saying is exactly what the movie was trying to portray. Also, i saw a comment (somewhere else, a long time ago) that they were in love with eachother, thats why jennifer would kill any guy that came between them or something like that
@@denizeskici4425 Imho Jennifer was hurt and shocked - nothing supernatural. Despite their relationship was toxic, I think they were both a little in love with each other so Needy taking the symbol of their friendship/love was a shock for her.
I loved this movie when it came out and I was one of the few who did. Glad people are finally coming around to it and all it’s campy silly glory. This movie is so much fun and just straight up wacky. Megan Fox is thee perfect casting!
This movie has had a re-evaluation especially in the era me-too I mean theres a reason Jennifer having all this power doesn’t go after the men who did this to her
@CinePals Yeah you’re completely right feeling bad for Jennifer…the movie was supposed to represent themes of assault and exploitation without being obvious about it.
I think this film is underrated and if anything just came out on the wrong era. Whether intentional, though I think it was, there is a strong and very potent MeToo type message in this film. But it came out before that was a part of the public discourse and conscious. When I look at it though it is having fun in the way was typical for this type of film in the era yet they did something, successfully, that was a bit more adroit then meets the eye with this. It also did define a lot going forward as did say The Faculty which was also a defining "fun-horror" film.
Yes, it was completely intentional. Diablo Cody intended for it to be marketed as a feminist horror movie for women, but the studio was llike "Megan Fox is HOT so let's market it to boys! What can go wrong? Did we mention how HOT Megan Fox is?" and... it flopped hard because the boys that went to see it for Megan Fox (Did I mention how HOT she is?) hated it and women didn't go see it as Diablo Cody intended.
Fun fact Amanda Seyfried wasn't comfortable doing the kissing scene but Megan Fox said she was fine doing that scene after coming out as bisexual in 2008
This movie is incredibly underrated, I remember it was trashed by critics when it came out, but now critics look at this movie and see that it is actually very clever. It also introduced me to what a succubus was because I kinda thought she was a vampire whic are 2 completely different things. I also remember seeing this in theaters when I was 18 and I’m certain there wasn’t a single man or woman in the theater that wasn’t aroused at the kissing scene between Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried. 14:17 and yeah everyone in the theater slightly groaned when she didn’t show nudity, it was hilarious.🤣🤣 Also to all Gen Z kids out there, no one in the 00’s had god awful slang like this movie.
yes she is a succubus. I understood this when I first watched it. because she didn't give me a demon or vampire vibes. She chooses her victims among men, impresses them with her charm and can play with their minds. With these she becomes a succubus. However, Megan Fox as vampire and Poison Ivy in DC I would love to see it because she would be great and that pool scene in this movie had a poison ivy vibe her.💚

@@denizeskici4425 She is 100% a demon, because that's literally what a succubus is. The boys who took her in the van had a demonic ritual, where Jennifer was possessed by a demon. A demon which happened to be a succubus, and was most likely drawn to Jennifer due to her flaunting her sexuality. It drew the demon to her and made her an easy target(and possibly willing accomplice).
I've literally only seen Fallen once (just after it came out on video when I was maybe 12 and the main thing I still remember is the demon singing 'Time is on my side, yes it is'
I read "The Book of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage" in the School Library in 10th grade. I have no idea what it was doing there. Someone on my faculty must've been a witch, or a new age hippy bookworm, because I also checked out Buckland's big blue book, and Isis Unveiled, and a bunch of Scott Cunningham.
I loved this movie. definitely Megan fox does a great job here. she can acting. They just need to give her roles where she can acting. I feel sad for Megan Fox, she doesn't get the credit she deserves and she has always remained in people's minds with her impression in Transformers. I love her and she is truly a great actress. Also, she is good in the Ninja Turtles movie and is different from Transformers. I loved her as April O'niel. April is so cute.Megan Fox said she's a fan of Ninja Turtles and that's why she wanted to star in this movie, and we can understand that she's doing something she really loves and she's enjoying it. also, she said that she loved the movies Jennifer's Body and Ninja Turtles.❤🐢
First, I love your channel and your reactions. Big fan. No, “backdoor” sex is not a “Mormon thing”. It is still considered to be sex, and if it is outside of wedlock, it is still considered fornication. There is no “backdoor exception” in Latter Day Saint doctrine. Keep up the great reactions and we’ll keep watching.

Hey Cinepals, I would LOVE to see a reaction to the Star Wars movie "Revenge of the Sith," especially from Jaby. I want to know how you all feel about this film. I know it's not something new, but i think that it would be great :D
No she just got some of the powers , she didn’t get possessed by a succubus, read up on supernatural stuff, , I’ve been hoping for a sequel with Needy as a Crow like anti hero killing evil doers
I think that the succubus that took over Jennifer's body kept going after the guys that Anita was interested in bc the original Jennifer was in there and the demon wanted to upset her??
I really like this movie, although that pseudo youth slang dialogue is a bit much sometimes. It's definitely a great Halloween watch. Oh, by the way: Joyride is Rated R. It has F-bombs all over and then there is that little scene at the end, with the truck ...
i’m so confused… first time watching this vid, but this looks like Greg in a sense from Reel Rejects? but sounds kinda different… i remember watching him react to this half a year ago. i’m mad confused!
When a silly satire was a stronger feminist narrative than all the forced superheroines and oscar vait flicks. There's a reason why so many young ladies resonated with the film, had an emotional connection with ut growing up, just like Carrie.
Talking over the scene to make it less awkward watching it with a girl?? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Just watch it and be quiet! It’s an amazing scene!!!! But silence is awkward?!! 😂
Critics hated this movie when it was released, but has since gained a cult following.
It’s just cheesy enough to be “good”
Because they were expecting more lesbian scenes
Umm...not really.
