This one is closer to the spirit of the book than the first one was, but the first one was made as a TV mini series so it was very toned down. A major difference is that in the book the kids part takes place in the late 50's and the adult part is in the 80's, while in this one goes from the 80's to modern day. Also the book flipped from the kids story to the adult story almost chapter by chapter, while her obviously they did the kids as one movie and the adults as part 2. IT and The Stand(the unabridged version, not the version that the publishers first put out that chopped about 400 pages) are the only Stephen King books that I re-read every few years.

So I actually live in southern Maine, and I remember in the weeks leading up to the release of this movie there were red balloons tied to a lot of mailboxes around our towns, fantastic marketing. However anyone who lives anywhere in not just Maine but all of New England could tell you that this movie was shot nowhere near Maine, nor do any part of the town look like Maine. It’s just funny how almost all of Stephen King’s best movie adaptations are set in Maine and yet they never shoot here. I get it, it’s probably really expensive, but you could at least get some landscape shots. Also Pennywise is essentially the nightmare fusion of Scarecrow, The Joker and a Bogart.

Haha Anyway, it's not perfect of course, but. Idk, maybe it's just me. I just thought compared to all of the other Stephen King adaptations we've gotten? Heck of a lot closer to something like Lewiston/Auburn, Rumford/Mexico, Lisbon Falls or Livermore Falls. Maybe not all of the neighborhood stuff (at least it doesn't look like midwest suburbs like the tv movie), but I thought that one aerial shot of the town kinda looked right. I think that was an old mill town in Canada, though. Think we don't give tax incentives that'd help much in filming on location.
Pennywise's presence effects the adults of Derry, which is why he is able to successfully hunt there every 27 years without anybody who matters finding out.
The girl you’re talking about is Gypsy Rose. Her Grandmother convinced her that she was sick for her life. When Gypsy found out that she was never actually sick, she had her Grandmother killed. She’s getting out of prison in December.
Fun fact: all the boys (Eddie, Richie, Bill, Ben and Stanley) were freshmen in high school irl at the time this movie was filmed. That might be a bit hard to believe because some of them look like they’re different ages
Munchaussen by Proxy is a real condition where a parent intentionally makes their child sick for the attention. The real story of Gypsy Rose is done pretty well in a Hulu series called Gypsy. Your reactions were great and I've loved the IT story since I read the book back in the 70's. You should watch a current T series called "From" and I truly believe the entity they're dealing with is the same one haunting Derry, ME.
The part where Beverly goes to the bathroom and all the blood shoots from the sink , is basically her struggling with her home trauma. She goes to the pharmacy and buys the tampons and the blood squirting is her becoming a woman. That's why the dad asks " Are you still my little girl ? "
None of the kids knew what Bill Skasgard looked like in full pennywise get up until each kid first filmed with him. The director wanted genuine reactions from the kids.
9:31 EVERYBODY MISSES THE LIBRARIAN BEHIND HIM!!! I saw it in theaters, the best type of horror is when you question what you're seeing as the audience, but every reaction video misses this.
Those 3 balls of light you saw in Pennywise's mouth are actually IT's true form. Yes, the clown form you see is actually just another disguise for IT. Looking into these lights with do either 1 of two things. 1: It'll either kill you instantly or 2: You'll survive but you'll be left permanently insane. I don't want to say about Pennywise's origin till you after you watch IT chapter 2.
My dad says he used to have rock fights with his brothers and other boys from his neighborhood. One day he had to bring his brother home in a wagon because he was out cold. Not sure how true all that is but it sounds like something from back then. I like how you unintentionally called out the town as a part of the horror. The town is indeed a creepy part of the Steven King horror universe. It is basically its own character.
This movie, is the 2nd of the series. The first, 1990. The people that made then 2nd series is brilliant. In the Book, IT, IT comes aroundb every 27 years. And the time between 1990 and 2017 is 27 years. The difference between the 90' movie and the 17', the 1990 movie w2as made for television and had to meet all of the codes TV was hindered by. The 2017 movie, made and released in the movie theaters. Totally different set of guidelines. But the "27 years" thing, brilliantly played upon. The story is the same, but the times are different. Different movies shown, different cars. They did a really good job making the second series. Oh, yeah. 1990 movie was a 2 night Mini-Series. The 2017 series, this is the first half of the book. Inn my opinion, you should watch the 1990 version also. Great Post. I'm anxiously waiting for Chapter 2. Great Post.
In my opinion, the miniseries (1990) was much better in atmosphere, accurate quotes, music was very creepy and also Tim Curry who play pennywise so good.
The book is still much better than any adaptations. Stephen King's character development is so good, in IT and The Stand that if I don't reread them periodically I start missing the people. Richie in this movie is portrayed as a wise cracking motor mouth. In the book it's very clear that Richie's problems come from how much faster his mind works than everybody else around him, combined with an impulse control button that's a bit faulty. And his sophisticated humor will leave you ROTF.

The shot @ 22:37 is iconic nightmare fuel!
KIRSTKN IS MY FAV REACTOR NOT ONLY IS SHE GOUGOUS BUT HER SENSE OF HUMOR AND HER LAUGH ARE EVERTHING❤❤❤
I will never get over how Bill Skarsgards brother played Eric in true bloods lmao
Her soul just left her body at the garage scene 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Munchaussen by Proxy is a real condition where a parent intentionally makes their child sick for the attention. The real story of Gypsy Rose is done pretty well in a Hulu series called Gypsy. Your reactions were great and I've loved the IT story since I read the book back in the 70's. You should watch a current T series called "From" and I truly believe the entity they're dealing with is the same one haunting Derry, ME.
IT was made to be seen in 2 parts. that's why it's a chapter 2. It's not just a title to a sequel. I hope you guys watch it.
We all float down here....!
I reeeaaally REALLY hope the new prequel series does all of these films justice!
The movie did a great job trying to capture the book. The TV movie is a classic. But was limited in what it could show.
It also actually looks like an old inland mill town in Maine, too. 😅
30:00 you can see the first Pennywise from the T.V. version of IT. He is just to the left of the coffin.
The part where Beverly goes to the bathroom and all the blood shoots from the sink , is basically her struggling with her home trauma. She goes to the pharmacy and buys the tampons and the blood squirting is her becoming a woman. That's why the dad asks " Are you still my little girl ? "
No she did not buy tampons she bought hair color called tampax
@@HudaZain-r3p tampons / Tampax same thing
i think this is the first time ive ever heard someone use the term 'what the what' lol!
8:14 Kristen's reaction her beautiful face, can't take my eyes off. 😍😍 My biggest CRUSH...
Kristen's reactions are the most real ones I have ever seen😂😂.
I'm her in real life 😅
None of the kids knew what Bill Skasgard looked like in full pennywise get up until each kid first filmed with him. The director wanted genuine reactions from the kids.
9:31 EVERYBODY MISSES THE LIBRARIAN BEHIND HIM!!! I saw it in theaters, the best type of horror is when you question what you're seeing as the audience, but every reaction video misses this.
27:00 craziest reaction of cinepals or cinedesi's ever😂😂😂
Those 3 balls of light you saw in Pennywise's mouth are actually IT's true form. Yes, the clown form you see is actually just another disguise for IT. Looking into these lights with do either 1 of two things. 1: It'll either kill you instantly or 2: You'll survive but you'll be left permanently insane. I don't want to say about Pennywise's origin till you after you watch IT chapter 2.
There are also a million eater eggs in this movie. IT is everywhere.
The kid who played Georgie's brother play Young Star-Lord in a couple of scenes from vol.2
Beautiful ladies reacting to a great movie! I'm 27 and this was my first horror movie that i saw in theaters and now i love horror ever since!
The adults of course would be messed up they grew up in that town
The show is Ruby starring Patricia Arquette on Hulu
My dad says he used to have rock fights with his brothers and other boys from his neighborhood. One day he had to bring his brother home in a wagon because he was out cold. Not sure how true all that is but it sounds like something from back then.
I like how you unintentionally called out the town as a part of the horror. The town is indeed a creepy part of the Steven King horror universe. It is basically its own character.
Quick note: all kids talk like that, just not in front of parents.
Great Post.
I love bill Skarsgard brilliant actor
"He thrusts his fist against the post, and still insists he sees the ghost"
Fun fact the refrigerator scene was pratical hes just really flexible
Kristen you are so comical in the way you scare it's entertaining! Your eyes bulge out, your scream and cover your eyes!
In my opinion, the miniseries (1990) was much better in atmosphere, accurate quotes, music was very creepy and also Tim Curry who play pennywise so good.
The adults in this movie is the way they are because of influence of the clown. Pennywise keeps them that way so he can go after the kids.
The book is garbage.. it’s poorly written
I have a fondness for the Tim Curry version of Pennywise, but Bill Skargard did an absolutely brilliant job of portraying him.
You Should watch the honest Trailer and Pitch Meeting for this
