Fun fact: The Actress who plays Sarah Sanderson (Sarah Jessica Parker) had an ancestor who was persecuted during the Salem Witch Trials. Fortunately the lady was found innocent and spared the gallows.
One of my Fletcher ancestors, 3rd Mayflower voyage, sent a letter home to England, asking her sister in law to send her husband's good cloak, and was thankful that the "savage" Squanto had shown them how to grow and use corn. I wonder if I might be related to Parker? That would be so cool.
I think it has become a Halloween standard. Fact a new one with the same 3 witches cast even though older... pretty much were the same. I think it was true to the original and not bad... not getting that label so many Disney movies have gotten today being a new Hocus Pocus story that is a bit of a prequel to this 93 version or sorts. This movie was not loved by critics.... but audiences did and do to this day as to why it is a Halloween standard that is not a Horror movie and kids can see.

There is a scene that was left out of the film explaining each sister's father. Mary's father was a bloodhound which is why she barks, scratches herself, and can sniff out children. Sarah's father was the village idiot which explains her fully. I forgot who Winifred's father was though.
15:18 Oh if Thackeray grew up in a time period where witches were being burned, it’s likely he made a judgement call that speaking to anyone back then would get him killed/tortured/captured for centuries for being a possible demon. Especially being a black cat, commonly associated as a witch’s familiar, which makes Winfred’s curse even more messed up. Even if he can’t die, I’m not sure if he’s immune to pain.
Winifred: Why was I cursed with such idiot sisters? Sarah: Just lucky, I guess. Best ever! 😂 I was 8 when this came out, so the same age as Dani, and I had an older brother. There was definite fighting and screaming, “Mom!” lol. This movie is a huge part of my childhood, and I was quite reluctant about the sequel. The box office bomb that became a cult classic. Originally, Steven Spielberg was going to direct the film, but was too busy working on a little movie called JURASSIC PARK.
I think it mainly bombed because it was in theaters in May of '93 and most people don't care about a Halloween movie in the Spring season... I would have definitely gone to see it but I wasn't born until October of '93 lol 😂❤
After 30 years this year was the first time I've actually seen the beginning of this movie. I didn't even know there was a 17th century segment for the longest time.

@16taysia to make the black flame candle it was said it was made from the fat of a dead hangman. Presumably the very hangman who was responsible for their deaths. In the sequel the one who makes the black flame candle mentions the book showed him how, and it wasn't pleasant. He also mentioned getting beat up by bullies earlier in the night before witnessing the end of the Sanderson sisters in the graveyard. Presumably the same bullies. @tupac1971ever that part is never explicitly stated, only that it was made from the fat of a dead hang man. Though with what we learn in the second movie, and the fact there "mother" the witch whom gave them the book is still alive, I would guess She did.
@tupac1971ever or since the devil is there master it could have been implied that Dark magic itself created the candle from the fat of the dead hangman when Winifred called upon the dark magic spell. However since she died before calling upon dark forces a second time, "book" took it upon itself to show the kid what needed to be done to bring them back for a third time. And since powerful dark forces where not giving a helping hand it was a more well let's say hands on experience this time to create the candle.

Bewitching reaction! 🧙♀️ A little fanwacking... There's a side plot that was cut off the film that the lure of Sara's power only works in tandem with enchanted candy there's a deleted scene showing them giving away candy and in the mob there's actual teens. I think they did right to cut it because it takes away from her power. To me is the fact that at the time of the song, Alison floored the room with salt that protected them. Long post. Lol I ❤ this movie. Lol
In my opinion this movie captures the vibe of trick or treating in the 90’s perfectly. It like teleports me back there for a brief moment.
I love the way Winifred says “Sisters!”
Surprisingly, "The Wizard of Oz" (1939) in the tornado scene, Aunt Em once calls for Dorothy in a similar style.

What a great reaction
As a grown 33 year old man, loved seeing y’all react to this movie this time of the year. Fun watching y’all two enjoy it.
Another movie y’all might enjoy (not Halloween at all) but Casablanca is a great black and white film y’all would love. Great story y’all would get kick out of
I saw it only this year. 1 is way way better. Im asian too. I did a costume contest in kg once. I was a freedom fighter
I❤This Movie & The 2nd Movie( Halloween Is My Favorite Holiday, It Was My Mom's Birthday!) My Mom Made The Best Costumes And Birthday \ Halloween Parties!🥰😱🧛♂️🧙🧟♀️🎃🖥💜
Another glorious morning makes me sick!😁
Billy is my favourite character i don’t think he was actually on the witches side from the start and just followed the protagonists because he wanted to help them but because of his mouth being sewn shut he couldn’t
I seen these movie several times when I was a kid.
I'm always going back 10 or 20 seconds to see Kristen get jump scared 😂 she's so funny every time
ah the nostalgia i watched it when i was a kid also not a vegetable. my sister was quite spooked by this movie as a kid. just a week ago we were talking about this movie but forgot the name so i searched alot online took like an quite a time to find it
Loved this movie growing up and tbh it’s one my only “must watch or it’s not Halloween” movies
FUN FACT: Thora Birch played Dani. Her parents were performers in the adult entertainment industry. Yes, p*rn. More treat then trick.
5:02 sorry
The look of pure terror when they found sarah in the bed was hilarious
Your reaction to the little sister screaming for mom had my dying
Came back a year later just to see it again 😂
This is one of my favorite movies from my childhood I watch it every year with my mom she love this movie too thanks guys
Lol
300 years ago they built houses with fire sprinklers?
They would've added that to meet modern regulations just like many of the historical buildings in Salem.
I mean in the beginning it explained that it was a tourist spot but close because it's haunted
Everyday is Halloween!Everyday is Halloween!Everyday is Halloween!
Everyday is Halloween!!
Thora really is an amazing actress!
