Thank you for this review. A bit too long though and I skipped through quickly. The Giulietta is a fantastic breed of car. I have the 1.4 TB Multiair + an electronic module pushing the power to 200 bhp. It is a gem. Got 80,000 km on the clock, problem free. I am thinking about the 240 bhp QV model but not convinced i really need the extra Bhp, especially since I live in tiny Malta. The car is exceptional in it's handling and the grip you get through corners is simply WOW ! Just point the car and she will obey giving you complete confidence. It grips like glue. No bullshit. Car fires up first time, every time. Oil changed every 6,000 km using factory specs. I am in love with my Giulietta and do not even bother thinking about Golfs or Civics. They are always in my rear view mirror and get smaller every time I push hard. A true sportsman car. Don't really care how much space the rear occupants have.

Italian Viewer Here, just a correction for the review.. the New Giulietta QV isn't aviable with the Manual transmission.. the old 235 PS versione was, but the 240 PS Is Not! Huge setback for driving enthusiasts here in Italy.. Furthermore the TCT is a little behind the DSG..
Hallo, habe am Freitag meine Veloce bekommen. In Grigio Stromboli, super Auto. Die Motorgeräusche absolut im Rahmen, fast zu leise. Verarbeitung wirklich sehr gut, Durchschnittsverbrauch 8,1 Liter im Dynamik Modus, bei Autobahnfahrt von im Durchschnitt 130 bis 140 km/h. Und das bei 241 PS! Auf der Landstraße und im Normal Modus mit Hoechstgeschwindigkeit 100 Verbrauch 6,7 Liter. Ich hatte vorher einen Golf GT Sport. Im Vergleich dazu mach die Giulietta, viel, viel mehr Spass, Verarbeitung, die Details, der tolle Motor, das Doppelkupplungsgetriebe, alles mit viel mehr Liebe und Passion gemacht. Alfa dürfte auch von der eigenen Qualität überzeugt sei, ab April 2017 geben Sie 4 Jahre Garantie! Ich habe für meine 28.500 (Neufahrzeug) bezahlt in Oesterreich, Listenpreis 39.000,-. Auf Wunsch nenne ich den Händler.
I do not like the mentality behind german cars except Porche . Because Cars are about Passion Soul , and feeling . which you miss in german cars . For me is GTI not good enough to be compared to that master piece of Alfa Romeo , especially the QV-line .

I think its a very subjective review and it dos not take into account the segment of the car. This is a sports hatch at 4.35 m so no its not a sadan with a huge trunck or lots of backseat space but yes it has a 350 l trunk just like a golf. It you put your biggest child mine is 183 behind the passenger given that your wife is not 180 too, space is sufficient. I actually went from the renault megane coupe because of lacking backseat space. I would personally never, ever even think about buying a golf, why ? well in my subjective oppinion its plain borring almost ugly, and the interior looks like something from the long went past and its not worth the money. They simply do not have a clue about design in my opinion. I was trying out the new mazda 3 and the new Audi a3 sedan and guess what, went back to the Alfa cause it was so mush more appealing on the outside and inside, the engine is a pearl and all that rubbish about bad quality is nothing but yes, rubbish. Things work fine and look a lot better than any german car at the same prize. You can find bad examples with every car and model and trust me ive seen that with german cars too. No one in that segment can make you feel spoiled like an Alfa Interior in QV style. Forget the clumsy design of the german vw cars, try it out and see for yourself. For my part have had no issues what so ever with my giulletta nor did I with my renault megane coupe, honda civic sport or alfa 156. If your going to buy a new car GO test all those out that have your interest ! don´t relly on some half bad review from someone who mighht be a fan or the opposite of a brand. In my opinion we have been listning to the praises of the VW cars for much to long. They are oldscool cars, they hardly renew there ugly design they are much to expensive and overestimated in every way. Sports cars are not ment to be that comfortabele riding over holes that should kind of be selfexplaining having a hard suspension for stabillity and high speed cornerring and driving. But yes a golf may be a better allrounder but then again why not just buy a cheaper borring looking car there enough out there to pick from. I guess you wanted something fun and special that get to your emotions and thats why you ended up with the giulletta and if you, like with any other car treat is decent you will have a lot of joy and fun and be happy every time you look at in and get into it and even more importent Drive IT.
Totally agree! Thomas talks about the sound isolation in this video which is to loud. I really doubt what the comparison is, because after have driven every C-segment car and buying the Giulietta afterwards, the sound isolation is one of the things it really stands out. And also in the steering. It is not just good as Thomas mentioned. It is easily the best in his class. Even better than the Focus. The car is so neutral in the fast corners!
I think the review is not biased. Of course he compares to VW and in some way he should. Giulietta Veloce (used to be QV before Giulia) is much quieter at 140 kmh than Toyota Auris Hybrid. Rolling and wind noise is better isolated. On the other side it has a premium price near Audi A3, Golf GTI, Volvo S40 and should be compared with them. I also feel lack of interior space and left hand rest in 2016 version is from hard carbon like material. Looks great but you avoid it in longer trips.
A golf is far less reliable than a Giulietta, don't take my word for it, thats according to various surveys, but you will never hear the alfa haters talk about that, its all "FIAT MAKE SHIT CARS AND GIULIETTA IS A FIAT CAR". Sure the non QV Giulietta have the fiat F.I.R.E engine on it and sure its based on the fiat C platform, but people like to act like that a) is a bad thing because the Fiat FIRE engine is amongst the most reliable and higher performing engines and b) They have been fine tuned by Alfa engineers for better performance and more efficient equipment placement c) FCA of 2010 is not the same Fiat or Alfa of the 90s, The Giulietta is a reliable car, has very good performance, looks good and is a BLAST to drive, and guess what? I'm VERY happy with my purchase! my friends have been telling me to go for Golf or a BMW like a blind sheep, I live in freakin Austria, every Prolo has a freakin VW and BMW! If i wanted to drive a Golf I'd go to a friend's place and ask him for a spin, same for BMW, I don't want to get the exact same things as everybody, nobody I know has an Alfa (which probably explains their ignorance, they probably never knew of the company and its rich RICH history) The Giulietta looks like a freakin italien sports car and almost looks like an Alfa 8C (provided you have the black headlights, 18inch rims and sports diffusors lol) and its hard to not look at it whenever you exit the car.
Exactly!! Have had my 1.4 Veloce TCY Guilietta for a couple of days now & love it! 1.4 engine 170 bhp!! Very adequate. Rapid steering, min body roll, gorgeous Competition red colour...makes the Golf & all others look bland! The Guilietta has the ingredient all the rest dont have..CHARISMA!
Very thorough review again. Quite unique on TH-cam, I think. And oh, next time wear something else than a white shirt. The shirt makes life for the camera very difficult at times, haha.

So let's see....you think it's really fun to drive...the engine is great....the steering is great.... the suspension is great....but the German guy likes the VW Golf GTI better even though he thinks the Alfa looks better and is more fun to drive.....Wow....that's an amazing conclusion Here's my conclusion....FORZA ALFA BABY.....
I have nothing against Alfa lovers, however I feel no shame saying the Golf GTI is better. Because it is by all means the clearly better vehicle and there is no discussion among experts about this. Luckily, not every decision has to be based on facts and technology, and therefore you can enjoy your Giulietta when you like it better and find it less boring than a Golf :)
If you think that driving 150 cars a year for 7 years is self-proclaimed expert, be my guest :) Again, dont feel insulted when some1 says the car you like better is worse than something. I also like some cars more that are clearly the worse cars, but still I found them personally better...
I only point out the inconsistencies in your review...Cars are meant to be driven....If I need a large boot, I would buy Stelvio.....VW interiors are boring as is its external design...It seems that you loved all the critical points of the Alfa and then suddenly proclaimed..."but I like the Golf better" ....very status quo....Forza Alfa Baby...

Its the all aluminium version of the previous 235hp engine, now producing 240hp and mated to alfas TCT (double clutch transmission) as standard -just like in the 4C. Drivetrain-wise i dont know any difference between 4C and the new Giulietta QV. Only the placement of the engine/transmission differs, of course.
Hi Thomas, once again a great review, i am 1.82 in height and indeed a fan of Alfa Romeos, had the same feel when i set in the drivers seat at the dealers, pending a test drive in the near future. But nevertheless a beautiful Italian. Any reviews on the BMW X4 Thomas.
Thomas, I am a huge Alfa Romeo brand fanboy, as you know. They didn't get it right with the design of this hot hatch. The front is not very stylish. If they ever return with a hot hatch, they need to change those headlamps. The grill is iconic, and the rear of the car is fine. The black elements should be in carbon fiber. I hope this car returns one day, but it needs a re-design if it does.
I really wish they had these in the U.S.. They would sell like hot cakes. I think Alfa Romeo is making a big mistake only selling the 4C, and then the Guilia when that comes out.
Normally I like your reviews very much. But in this case I think it is really biased for you to keep harping on how 'small' the interior is because it won't accommodate 4 adults of your 1.86 meter height. Your are in the upper percentile of height. Every country has different averages, but in most instances the average male height is about 1.7 meters. That means that most men are LESS than your height. An extra .16m or 6" would make a huge difference in the perception of legroom and headroom. It's fine to mention it is tight for you but to be fair you should mention that for average people it wouldn't be a problem. Either that or this channel should get a host who is more average sized to judge the spaciousness of the cars.
Design is a little 'overwrought'. The side perspective especially is rather mundane and kind of boring. Not dynamic. I hope the next iteration of the Giulietta is a more successful effort because I love the marque.

this thing retains the spirit of 147, however the biggest disaster is still in interior space. it seems like the Italians need to put a little more effort to catch up with even the French (the Peugeot & Renault ranges grow in size). a huge dinnerplate-sized steering is another disappointment, so do not expect a sharp handling like in the 156 which has a 2.1 lock to lock steering ratio. but that's the market need nowadays perhaps~ more comfy & more forgiving. fortunately Alfa is 1 of the 3 manufacturers still producing sound like carburetor (beside Lotus & Subaru). best of all we have 1 of the very few best reviewers on earth in Thomas. he even took the time & effort to explain the function of conventional handbrake & the clover leaf triangle emblem on side fenders. his speech is always in a calm & relaxing tone, as compared to some of those wrestlers look alike from the west who always screaming "yeeha" & "woohoo" while flooring the accelerator & bla bla bla over the performance of the engines. nothing much is informative & constructive! guess viewers are more concern of the practicality & functions of everyday use too. this reviewer is definitely the mentor for them to learn from. and thank god we have him for years to come. provided he doesnt quit his job. LOL! as usual. i clicked like. not really for the Alfa but for him !

I am a big fan of the Italian car industry, and the Alfa Romeo especially, but they really should get to work, they are a decade behind other car manufacturers, , it isnt enough to make an attractive car, it must be well built, practical, efficient and it must feel bang up to date... This car doesnt know what it wants to be, it is not as sporty as megane R.S., it isnt as allrounder as Golf GTI, or a Focus ST, but it is much more expensive than all of them.... I think it isnt a hot-hatch, because a hot hatch must be a good all round car, fast, practical, reasonably priced, able to go to the track and to weekend shopping ... This is a stylish , quick car, but it lacks emotion, and if italian car lacks emotion , than i would not buy it.. 147&156 are still queens of my heart...

Had this car in 2014, and sold it after 2 month. The engine is good, fuel consumption is amazing, but thats it. The rest is all bad. I always heard some noise from gearbox in low speed, i mean while driving in city specially when its in first and second gear i felt something is breaking under the car.....took to agency and they said it is normal!!! The Screen has a terrible quality., not enough space like cup holder. This is the worst car i have ever owned.

it is normal. i have this car number 138 and it always does it. a nissan gtr does make a clunck noise to to me it makes is more special when compared to the rest because this feels more mechanical and i drive it very very hard and it keeps up, its now at 141.000 km
I think this Alfa has the most charisma and pleasure of ownership of all the hottest hatchbacks on the market! A work of art on wheels! :)

A golf is far less reliable than a Giulietta, don't take my word for it, thats according to various surveys, but you will never hear the alfa haters talk about that, its all "FIAT MAKE SHIT CARS AND GIULIETTA IS A FIAT CAR". Sure the non QV Giulietta have the fiat F.I.R.E engine on it and sure its based on the fiat C platform, but people like to act like that a) is a bad thing because the Fiat FIRE engine is amongst the most reliable and higher performing engines and b) They have been fine tuned by Alfa engineers for better performance and more efficient equipment placement c) FCA of 2010 is not the same Fiat or Alfa of the 90s, The Giulietta is a reliable car, has very good performance, looks good and is a BLAST to drive, and guess what? I'm VERY happy with my purchase! my friends have been telling me to go for Golf or a BMW like a blind sheep, I live in freakin Austria, every Prolo has a freakin VW and BMW! If i wanted to drive a Golf I'd go to a friend's place and ask him for a spin, same for BMW, I don't want to get the exact same things as everybody, nobody I know has an Alfa (which probably explains their ignorance, they probably never knew of the company and its rich RICH history) The Giulietta looks like a freakin italien sports car and almost looks like an Alfa 8C (provided you have the black headlights, 18inch rims and sports diffusors lol) and its hard to not look at it whenever you exit the car.
Exactly!! Have had my 1.4 Veloce TCY Guilietta for a couple of days now & love it! 1.4 engine 170 bhp!! Very adequate. Rapid steering, min body roll, gorgeous Competition red colour...makes the Golf & all others look bland! The Guilietta has the ingredient all the rest dont have..CHARISMA!

So let's see....you think it's really fun to drive...the engine is great....the steering is great....
the suspension is great....but the German guy likes the VW Golf GTI better even though he thinks the Alfa looks better and is more fun to drive.....Wow....that's an amazing conclusion
Here's my conclusion....FORZA ALFA BABY.....
I have nothing against Alfa lovers, however I feel no shame saying the Golf GTI is better. Because it is by all means the clearly better vehicle and there is no discussion among experts about this. Luckily, not every decision has to be based on facts and technology, and therefore you can enjoy your Giulietta when you like it better and find it less boring than a Golf :)

Its the all aluminium version of the previous 235hp engine, now producing 240hp and mated to alfas TCT (double clutch transmission) as standard
-just like in the 4C.
Drivetrain-wise i dont know any difference between 4C and the new Giulietta QV.
Only the placement of the engine/transmission differs, of course.

Thomas, I am a huge Alfa Romeo brand fanboy, as you know. They didn't get it right with the design of this hot hatch. The front is not very stylish. If they ever return with a hot hatch, they need to change those headlamps. The grill is iconic, and the rear of the car is fine. The black elements should be in carbon fiber. I hope this car returns one day, but it needs a re-design if it does.

Normally I like your reviews very much. But in this case I think it is really biased for you to keep harping on how 'small' the interior is because it won't accommodate 4 adults of your 1.86 meter height. Your are in the upper percentile of height. Every country has different averages, but in most instances the average male height is about 1.7 meters. That means that most men are LESS than your height. An extra .16m or 6" would make a huge difference in the perception of legroom and headroom. It's fine to mention it is tight for you but to be fair you should mention that for average people it wouldn't be a problem. Either that or this channel should get a host who is more average sized to judge the spaciousness of the cars.
Design is a little 'overwrought'.
The side perspective especially is rather mundane and kind of boring. Not dynamic.
I hope the next iteration of the Giulietta is a more successful effort because I love the marque.

this thing retains the spirit of 147, however the biggest disaster is still in interior space. it seems like the Italians need to put a little more effort to catch up with even the French (the Peugeot & Renault ranges grow in size). a huge dinnerplate-sized steering is another disappointment, so do not expect a sharp handling like in the 156 which has a 2.1 lock to lock steering ratio. but that's the market need nowadays perhaps~ more comfy & more forgiving. fortunately Alfa is 1 of the 3 manufacturers still producing sound like carburetor (beside Lotus & Subaru). best of all we have 1 of the very few best reviewers on earth in Thomas. he even took the time & effort to explain the function of conventional handbrake & the clover leaf triangle emblem on side fenders. his speech is always in a calm & relaxing tone, as compared to some of those wrestlers look alike from the west who always screaming "yeeha" & "woohoo" while flooring the accelerator & bla bla bla over the performance of the engines. nothing much is informative & constructive! guess viewers are more concern of the practicality & functions of everyday use too. this reviewer is definitely the mentor for them to learn from. and thank god we have him for years to come. provided he doesnt quit his job. LOL! as usual. i clicked like. not really for the Alfa but for him !

I am a big fan of the Italian car industry, and the Alfa Romeo especially, but they really should get to work, they are a decade behind other car manufacturers, , it isnt enough to make an attractive car, it must be well built, practical, efficient and it must feel bang up to date... This car doesnt know what it wants to be, it is not as sporty as megane R.S., it isnt as allrounder as Golf GTI, or a Focus ST, but it is much more expensive than all of them....
I think it isnt a hot-hatch, because a hot hatch must be a good all round car, fast, practical, reasonably priced, able to go to the track and to weekend shopping ...
This is a stylish , quick car, but it lacks emotion, and if italian car lacks emotion , than i would not buy it.. 147&156 are still queens of my heart...

Had this car in 2014, and sold it after 2 month. The engine is good, fuel consumption is amazing, but thats it. The rest is all bad. I always heard some noise from gearbox in low speed, i mean while driving in city specially when its in first and second gear i felt something is breaking under the car.....took to agency and they said it is normal!!! The Screen has a terrible quality., not enough space like cup holder. This is the worst car i have ever owned.

it is normal. i have this car number 138 and it always does it. a nissan gtr does make a clunck noise to to me it makes is more special when compared to the rest because this feels more mechanical and i drive it very very hard and it keeps up, its now at 141.000 km
the interior quality is really so cheap....
