Hi, I'm from Taiwan and I'm an English teacher in an elementary school. Some of my students are half-Vietnamese. Learning a little bit of Vietnamese does help me build a closer relationship with them. They are very happy that finally there is something that they can teach their teacher. Thanks for your lessons. Short, but very effective.

Oh dear me! You mispronounced the word "sow" (meaning female pig)! You pronounced it to rhyme with "low" whereas it is actually exactly the same (rhymes with "how") as the Vietnamese word "sau" you are introducing!

You shouldn't have taught Vietnamese words with English words. It's very different.

Ah finally someone noticing a weakness in this poor teaching video. I know a guy who teaches a lot better: Sebastien thay giao, he speaks french I think but he has started to do videos in English. Do you want to watch them?

Whatever helps the learner to remember the words is a good approach. It is highly likely that people watching this video will also think of their own ways to remember, and this is good also. People will usually relate words to something that is familiar to help them learn. She offers explanations for accurate pronunciation that go beyond the English comparison words in any case. She is a good teacher.

Yeah, as an English speaker I'd have to agree...unless the English word sounds EXACTLY like the Viet word, I think it's more trouble than it's worth to try and remember pronunc'n of a Viet word based on a "similar", but not identical-sounding, English word--you'd keep making the same mistake with the Viet word by using the English pronunc'n instead.

Anh nhăn Different people learn in different ways. As a very beginner in Vietnamese, this way helps me a lot. I don’t have trouble remembering the differences between the English word and the actual pronunciation of the Vietnamese word. People should use the method that helps them the best.

no. 4 Bon... you should associate it with "Bon Appetite" or "Bon fire" sounds more accurate, no.8 Tam sounds more like "thumb", no.10 muoi sounds like "Muay Thai"...
