Ladies and gentlemen. The adapter he is using is a Modified Transfer Board For Legion Go SSD Memory Card Adapter for NVME M.2 2242. They're available on Amazon if you're in the states like me.
@@arezxx5244 The stock drive is 2240 and this one is a 2280, so its basically double the length, this adaptor brings it back down enough so that it can lay flat.
Glad to see you finally got that adapter to mount the SSD internally instead of the external set up that you were using with magnets. This set up will work much better but will just have to monitor the temperature of the SSD when gaming. Good video!
Thanks. Just for info: Legion already has 2 strong magnets inside, at the base. This is how the kickstand is closed at the base. Magnets have no effect on ssd or components, as long as you don’t use 1kg magnet :)
There's a few on Amazon that replace the entire backplate, making it not only quieter (because of bigger fan holes) and a space for a full sized SSD. Only thing is the ones I've seen require a SSD adapter that has it laid horizontally along the battery.
You can use macrium reflect free trial and do a 1to1 SSD copy before switching ssd's so you don't have to do recovery or loose anything on the original SSD.
Thanks legend. Got it. I have been reading the ssd temperature's are crazy for majority of the 2280 ssd. Has anybody had any luck managing the temps better? I wish someone makes a custom backplate that rises out a bit more and allows for better heat dissipation.
@@misuki6579did you do anything heat sync wise. There are different backplates you can order for better airflow and you could have used a copper heat sync and or the blue tape adhesive
1. What type of Flash drive is that? (Name & where to buy it?) 2. What are the steps needed to make that Flash drive a recovery drive for the Legion Go? Is it possible to make a video guide for it?
Did the mod using a hynix p41 temps while transferring large amounts hit low 70s. During gaming low 60s peak. I added a .5 mm thermal pad which reduced temps a bit further. To clarify the higher temps were hwinfo #3 which is the controller. I'm assuming temp 1 & 2 are nand and dram which were 40-50c

Hello, I got the modified board to add a 2080 on the Legion . Does this Nvme work for the Legion? SAMSUNG 990 PRO SSD 4TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 Also, which heat sink or heating pad do you recommend ?
Lol how are you doing heat tests on the outside of the legion go when you could use hardware monitor and show after use what the temperatures are? And if the speeds are Gen 4? There's no information in this video.
Hey dude. Did you clone your original ssd to the 4tb ssd before installing or did you do a fresh setup with a recovery usb? Could you please shed some light on how you got the 4tb ssd going with windows and all the correct legion go specific drivers etc. Thanks for the great video 😊
the 512 SSD was wrapped in foil, would it make sense to have a copper heatsink or thermal pad and foil on the new one? would they fit? ...more cutting...
Hey mate, i just did this with a Kingston 4tb 2280 ssd, but im having a huge issue when unplugged and running it on battery, the disk activity is spiking like hell from 0-40-72-100% disk usage and games are unplayable cause it stutters every second... do you know what might cause this?, Its so weird cause as soon as i plug it into the AC adapter it vanishes and is smooth as hell.. Would be lovely with some feedback on this please!.
Strange… My first idea, I would recommend this: Check the power plan in windows battery settings. It seems that you don’t run on performance without cable. Maybe you made the settings for unplugged to run on a lower profile. Windows will switch them automatically. Probably this is the problem. Check those settings. Otherwise, if this is not the problem, I would recommend to try with another 2280 ssd to see if you get the same behavior.
Technically you shouldnt have to boot into bios after that.. you can automatically start your legion and itll work as if it was the original ssd...thats why its clone:::
Dude seriously fair dues for trying it and yes you got it done but have you any clue what you are doing ? Or have you just seen a video onceand thought, oh! I'll do that as well but never really looked at the other video or have done much if any work/building of even a PC?

Redirect the position of the ssd. You can clearly see the new orientation of the ssd.

Someone should make a printable backplate that supports the mod.
There are some in Ali Express now they're ranging from $15 to $25

How was the temperature of the device after this modification when running heavy games?
How is 4Tb SSD Doing now ? Have you experienced any issues caused by increased SSD power consumption ?

mate, avoid the microfibre cloth. Ideally use a silicone antistatic. Microfibre can zap your components.
Right , and no anti-static wrist ... the best way to kill your device !

No
Is really hard to find ssd of legion go? Why they keep using another size of ssd?
2242 can only go up to 2tb of storage .. if you want anything higher you will need 2280 which can go up to 8tb

You're apparently on the power threshold with the ssd being used.
What adaptor did you use?
It's just plastic and can be easily cut using flush cutters or, the better choice, nail clippers.
Have you had any issues with overheating or stuttering since install?
Actually i did this replacement and yes the back left side does get hot..so i added a thin strip of thermal pasds as it works much better
WHY not buy a 2242 4tb. stead making dangerus modification? this is stupid. legion go cost to much to tear like that
Did you keep the 4tb installed? Any over heating?
No problems here. Definitely it will generate more heat, but I had no problems.
beside 2 tb is more than ok. 2242 ssd cost 180 canadian dollars
Over heating not working
My new ssd does not show in the bios boot order , I have cloned to the new drive (2242) size any ideas?
Technically you shouldnt have to boot into bios after that.. you can automatically start your legion and itll work as if it was the original ssd...thats why its clone:::

Thanks for replying.
The problem was the SSD I bought was an NFFG SSD.
THANKS AGAIN 👍
thanks your video tell me how 2242 adapter to 2280!
Better to clone the disc, much quicker
NVME drives go in at a 45 degree angle and then bend down, not pushing straight in, 116 k subs and you struggle with an NVME. bro....
What you bought here is a pirated version. I am an original author from China
Go and play on the road

Sorry but your hand shaking make me nervous.....
The sound in your videos is not enough
this method is too dangerous to be good safe, like no thermal pad on SSD etc... Warm heat sink etc.... DONT DO THAT !!
Original drive temps for me were 94c after adding 2280 were much lower 😅
