I recommend to use the database function, and then no folders are required. When you search by Tag, you can search by song, album, artist, and genre. No folders needed to search. You can see the database function here: th-cam.com/video/BfQqRf8jqls/w-d-xo.html If you want to use folders, this very much depends upon the Pioneer in-dash receiver model number you are using. For Pioneer AVH-2300NEX, USB has a limit of 8 directories and up to a total of 1,500 Folders. There is no published limit on the number of nested folders. However, please note, the more nested folders you have the harder it is to search, especially while driving. If you are using a more modern Pioneer receiver like AVH-2500NEX, there is no limit to folders and files. Searching with the database and tag function is still the way to go. The AVH-500EX does not support gapless playback. You can playback from your music player through Bluetooth Audio or AUX input or through the AV input. Do you have to set a data base every time when using same USB. Say I have 3 USB drives, do I have to set up a database everytime the same USB gets plugged in? Or does it save it and remember it??
No. You do not have to create a database each time you use a USB flash drive. When you select "create a database" the in-dash receiver will read all of the data on the USB flash drive and write a file to the USB flash drive. The file the in-dash receiver creates is it's own searchable database of the files included on the USB drive. Depending upon the number of files and folders on the drive, this may take several minutes, the first time only. From that point forward the in-dash receiver can quickly search it's database for songs etc... If you use a 2nd USB flash drive, you'll need to create a database on drive 2. And if you use a 3rd USB flash drive you'll need to create a database on that one too. After all of the databases are created, you can change from one USB drive to the other. When you change to a different USB drive, 1,2 or 3, the in-dash receiver will take a few moments to read the database and then search functions are available. If you change the songs on a given USB flash drive ( add or remove songs or other data) the database will need to be updated. The in-dash receiver will automatically update it's database in the background when possible. The timing of this depends upon what source is selected by the user when the vehicle is on. Hello , I had an old car stereo , and I was able to fast forward by folder with the remote control , is it possible to do it with this remote control? thnx s
I'm not sure what you mean by "fast forward by folder"? Can you be a little more specific? Pressing and holding the fast forward button on the remote control will advance through a song. You can also drag the scrubber bar on the bottom of the in-dash receiver screen with your finger to a different part of a track. @@deckerdotto6035 thnx for replying , So this is the point : I am old guy , I use a usb memory and I have my music organized by folders , I dont know how many folders I have . I had this stereo before th-cam.com/video/shBIDZPd_io/w-d-xo.html and with the remote control with the ^ arrow I was able to browse folders , while with bluetooth u need to go song by song there is no way to browse folders
Can you use the remote control to move through folders on a USB flash drive? The short answer is yes. When you are on the source screen with album art. Pressing the Folder/P Ch button on the remote control will move from one folder to the next. And you can skip forward and back within a folder. If you are interested, there is also a powerful search function. This system will build a database on your USB flash drive and you can search by Artist, Album, Song, and Genre, if that data is included in your files. You can see it here: th-cam.com/video/BfQqRf8jqls/w-d-xo.html However the search function must be done by touching the screen and will not work with the remote control. If you are looking to buy a system I recommend Pioneer AVH-501EX or AVH-601EX. You can see them and the included remote control here: th-cam.com/video/DTA6MxP0dA0/w-d-xo.html and here: th-cam.com/video/GamxQ5kiRRw/w-d-xo.html Some systems include a remote control and others do not. If you are looking for a system similar to the one you had previously, please check out Pioneer MVH-S310BT you can see it here: th-cam.com/video/3OUfcKQ4nUA/w-d-xo.html

When I engage Parking Brake to enable file to load, nothing happens and screen warning remains. Help!
Can get my NEX to download anything front thumb drive. I can see file and select it but always get the warning screen and cranking handbrake does not help.
If you engage the parking brake and still cannot get past the warning screen the vehicle may have an incorrect connection to the Green Parking Brake Wire on the in-dash receiver. You can see more information about the Green Parking Brake Wire in this video: th-cam.com/video/-bF3uzzaT30/w-d-xo.html You can find more videos about Pioneer AVH-600EX here: th-cam.com/video/qqIlfzVbpt8/w-d-xo.html

I bought the avh-200 & 201 for my two cars, they are good except the fact you cannot skip videos like how u would skip a song, very cumbersome and irritating
Did you try to use the Hard Key Track Advance and Rewind buttons on the bottom left side of the hard key button panel of the AVH-200EX and AVH-201EX? The fact is you can skip videos just like you would skip a song. The Wireless Remote Control included with the Pioneer AVH-201EX has Track Advance and Rewind buttons too. The Wireless Remote control works for video track advance as well. I hope you find it much less cumbersome and irritating.
