You need to come down to south carolina and explain this to the kids. They like to do an 8 inch lift on the front and a c-notch kit on the rear and drag the trailer hitch down the street all while blasting rap music that you can barely hear over their "clapped out" exhaust or whatever they call it.
I just bought a 2004 GMC Sierra and saw this suspension. Its my first time seeing this type of suspension, after watching this video I understand it a little more, thank you for the video.
Took me one year to finally realize how to a line torsion bar to the right level took it to 4 shops and came out worst every time bland after some many videos this one gave me information and a over view in what I had to do so thanks a1auto ❤
I know this is an old video but, i really do appreciate you doing these videos because I have referenced about 90% of your videos to figure out how to fix my truck. 98 ZR2
Oh my Lord! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Them boys I bought the truck from had the muthertrucker maxed out to the Broke Back Mountain side. Now, thanks to your help, I have a normal truck that doesn't try to throw me off the road 😂
Thanks this is great! I just bought big wheels and tires for my 99 / 2500 and I didn’t want to buy a lift kit too. I’ll try this and cut away whatever else I need so the tires don’t rub. This is EXACTLY the video I needed 🎉
Do you need an alignment after this? My 99 k2500 is 2 inches lower in the front then the rear. I want to raise the front at least 1 inch or inch and a quarter & i dont want to ruin any suspension or drive components .
Very helpful video, I have a question. My 04 Silverado driver’s side torsion bolt is all the way in. The other side has some thread showing. My driver’s side is the lowest. How do I adjust? Thank you again for video
I've had my truck in the shop trying to get the torsion bars and suspension set right only to find out today that, low and behold, one of the bolts isn't even sitting in the groove its supposed to be in.
I have a 1998 Tahoe with a plow, I want to swap out the 1/2 ton to 3/4 ton torsion bars to take away the front squat, do you know if they are interchangeable, i do have the screws all the in on my keys now, it's a 100% plow truck
I upgraded my front suspension but not the lower control arm and torsion bar on my tahoe. If I cracked my stock torsion keys all the way will that be okay and worth it a bit ?
This is only half of the info. There are bump stops on the lower control arm as well and you want to make sure you are NOT touching those when the truck sits empty. Anyway, good video.
I need your personal buisness number ii have a 2004 f250 5.4 triton with 200,000 miles an ii just want my truck strong there’s no real mechanics unless I’m watchn A1 auto

Hell of a job guys. 1a auto making the best vids
About to lift my 84 s15 jimmy thanks again 1AAUTO for saving me tons on money every day and that truck is looking minty keep it going
What about the alignment of the wheels, is it necessary to do it after lifting the vehicle?
Good vid len. Wish you guys did more vids on 2wd rear wheel drive trucks.
Wow thank you for eleaborating I saw it on my jeep wrangler
How badly does this affect the alignment of the tires
nice job 1A Auto! BTW- i have the same hood on my ‘09 1500 LTZ looks sahweet.
Thanks for this video doing this now .
Definitely loved the video😂 but I want to know is how to install a leveling kit for my obs

Hey, thanks for this video, I would like to know what variance in inces should the front be lower to the back in height..appreciate
I love those headlights... any chance I could get a link to those?
Good info....will save me money!
Fantastic vid. Car noob here, why dont you have torsion bar suspension on much more ? It seems much more simpel than coilover
Very helpful video, I have a question. My 04 Silverado driver’s side torsion bolt is all the way in. The other side has some thread showing. My driver’s side is the lowest. How do I adjust? Thank you again for video
Thanks brother!! Good video!!🎉🎉
I've had my truck in the shop trying to get the torsion bars and suspension set right only to find out today that, low and behold, one of the bolts isn't even sitting in the groove its supposed to be in.
Here I was thinking man that's a decent looking truck. Then he lifted it up and I was like nope😂
awesome video. Always informative and well spoken.
very well explained
Very good information. I love it n need more info
Adding tension to the torsion bars seems like adding stiffness to the ride. Am I wrong?
Getting it up is always tough for Chevy guys…
😂
Thanks!! Helped a lot
Can you drive it on the highway if you lift the front like that a little? It’s my daily use truck.
Rake has nothing to do with weight distribution. It affects steering geometry, but an inch or two doesn’t have a noticeable effect.
Do you have to have an alignment do after doing this?
Great Video guys!!
I owned a 91 gmc reg cab short bed Z71 5.0 5-speed 4x4. Don't put those t-bars too high you'll run out of suspension travel & it will drive like crap.
You said 2 adjustments turns of the bolt equals out to 1/2 inch lift, does that apply to only the vehicle in the video or to all vehicles?
I have a 1998 Tahoe with a plow, I want to swap out the 1/2 ton to 3/4 ton torsion bars to take away the front squat, do you know if they are interchangeable, i do have the screws all the in on my keys now, it's a 100% plow truck
Can a uneven adjustment between the two bars cause a truck to pull to one side while driving on the highway ? - please help
Thanks
How does it affect the front end alignment is my question!
You will need an alignment after word's
Right on thank you

No it will need an alignment, max your stock shock travel out, and ride like dog shit
the back needs to be up so high it looks like a cat in heat!
So if my truck is about a half inch higher on one side can I give one side alittle more of an adjustment or is that not recommended?
This is only half of the info. There are bump stops on the lower control arm as well and you want to make sure you are NOT touching those when the truck sits empty.
Anyway, good video.
Is it safe to adjust on pavement? Also is this bad for CVs and other components? I need a little more room for 31s
+COLTRON Thanks for watching! You want to have all 4 wheels off the ground to make these adjustments.
I did everything that you said in the video and on the driver side it goes completely down to the ground what did I do wrong
🤔 why not measure from center of the hub?
So if your tires are worn uneven you can get a more accurate measurement of the suspension 🤔
What happens if the adjusting bolts are almost tight against the torsion keys but the front is still lower?
Great vid...🙏😎🙏😎😍
+Michael Michael Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
How can I remove a torsion key off a 1996 gmc sierra
Did it to my 96 tahoe and the ride is too stiff
Looks like my 90 chevy
That rust and corrosion on that frame…😢

My 2001 Chevy Blazer doesn't have torsion bars.. 😐
forgot about z-height?
Torsion bar is nothing more than a spring.
I don’t think my truck has these
New England kills beautiful trucks… it’s unfortunate.
