    Would you rather get your hands on the fabulous Boot of Cortez or stumble across a historical relic as extraordinary as the bronze Hadrian statue?

    I remember hearing of the Hand of Faith Nugget years ago and i am sure there was another big one found as well. The faith one was found around 250 Km from where I live. I am sure the other one was sticking out of ground and tripped the person up, I cant remember the story.

      You're thinking of the Saddle Ridge Hoard, the lady tripped over a can sticking out and found even more all containing 1427 gold coins which I think is the largest gold coin find in the US. Worth over 10 million dollars back in 2013, I imagine worth way more today.

    I have always wanted to go metal detecting and then go find a treasure that is worth loads of money but something that also changes the way we think about a certain place 1000s of years ago,

    That’s the cool thing about Europe, there’s so much history there. You aren’t going to find anything 500 years old buried in the US.

    The Bronze statue of Hadrian had a head next to him because back then in order to change a statue from one famous man to another, people would just change the head but keep the body. As opposed to sculpting a whole new body plus head.

    I wish narrators would look up the words they speak in order to say the correct pronunciations of place names. It's so simple. It's not Loch luh-MOND, it's Loch LOH-muhnd. There's even a famous song... "...on the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond" (LOH-muhnd). It really devaluates a video. And so does showing us a photograph from the 1800s of a guy who lived in the 1600s. This is bush league stuff.

    • @josi4251
      @josi4251 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly. If you're going to put it out there, at least take a few seconds to look it up and say it right. Another example was the word cloisonne. That is also a rather easy find.

    Am I the only one who thinks that Viking "cross" could be a COINCIDENCE? I mean, any diety at all could have been represented there and all humanoid figures can very easily make a "cross" shape unintentionally by just keeping the legs together and holding the arms out, so....I'm more than a little skeptical that that relic alone proves or disproves any time period in Viking Christianity. Idk, just my opinion.

  • @DevaPein
    @DevaPein 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    this is probably a really stupid question but. I know A.D (year of our Lord-Not mine though but whatever) And B.C. (Before Christ)... what is C.E?

    • @jennyknepper
      @jennyknepper 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Common Era (it takes out the religious nature of BC/AD, but the pivot year is the same ). So 100 BC is the same as 100 BCE (before common era).

    • @ryedoll
      @ryedoll 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      AKA another way to remove Christ from everything including the actual time that we keep, all to give him no thought.... it works perfect when you teach it to kids because they're none the wiser and they grow up thinking it's right. Whoever renamed it BCE and CE probably goes by they/them or zey/zem.

    Let's all send King Charles III Coronation Best Wishes to *Craig Best, 46, and Roger Pilling, 75* , who were sentenced to five years and two months at Durham Crown Court on Thursday following their trial.
    I'm sure they will celebrate this important day knowing that Under the *Treasure Act* , any metal object believed to be more than 200 years old *is owned by the Crown* 👑 and must be declared to authorities within 14 days.
    👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑
    They were convicted on two charges of possessing and conspiring to sell criminal property worth £766,000, namely coins believed to have been buried by a Viking in the ninth century that they *failed to declare as treasure*
