    Thanks for this video! My 2016 Jeep engine light came on at around 76,000 miles. The engine did not seem to run rough, and I had no starting issues. I drove to Auto Zone and pulled a P0128 code with their scan tool. A Google search came back with a "low coolant temp" error. Further digging revealed several possible issues ranging from a bad thermostat, low coolant, dirty throttle body, MAF, or an oxygen sensor. The coolant was full, and the engine ran between 204 and 217 degrees.
    After watching your video (and one or two more) I went back to the parts store and bought a can of throttle body cleaner and MAF/sensor cleaner. After work, I discovered heavy oil in my air box and inside the intake ducts (more on what caused that below). After disconnecting the battery, I carefully took the intake ducts apart removed the sensor, and cleaned up all the oil with 40WD. The oxygen sensor actually looked good, but I spray cleaned it and the connectors with sensor cleaner anyway.
    I then removed the throttle body, which had a heavy black ring of carbon around the butterfly, and cleaned it up with liberal amounts of cleaner until it was nice and shiny on both sides. I sprayed the MAF sensor with cleaner, all the connections I had unhooked, and cleaned/wiped inside the intake where the TB connects. I then spray cleaned several other sensors and connections, then reassembled everything. I'm happy to report that I had no TB reset issues, and the engine light has not came back on and the Jeep runs fine.
    I cannot believe how quick and easy the entire process was. From start to finish was about 40 minutes and only took a ratchet and flat head screwdriver.
    So, what caused all the oil in the airbox and duct? I noticed that my engine began steadily losing power on steep inclines over a period of time. On a trip to WV, I was barely able to climb hills at 50 mph on the open interstate. After doing some research on forums, there was talk of the hood insulation being sucked down over the intake box, eventually deforming and choking off the air. This was exactly what caused the loss of power, and the high RPMs pulled oil into airbox from the crankcase breather hose whenever it was choked! The fix was to simply cut away a small portion of the hood insulation directly over the airbox, which immediately fixed the severe loss of power. Shortly after, my engine light began to come on and off intermittently, until it finally stayed on. Hopefully, this saga is over and I saved hundreds of dollars.

    For those wondering on the 3.6, the throttle sensor is connected to the throttle body. You replace them both when doing this.

    You literally have a video about doing a 2015 Jeep JK Throttle Body replacement, but I go to your website and type in throttle body with the appropriate filters and I get a "No Results Found"
    Awesome

    Is the connector you refer to in the video the throttle position sensor? If not, where is it located on the throttle body?

    Is this pretty much the same for the Jeep JL? It’s the same 3.6 pentastar right?

    Just a hint, for whatever part you are working on, leave a direct link to the throttle body on your website that takes me straight to it and then 💥
    I will buy it.
    I’m gonna go to your website anyways and buy it because now I know how to change it. Thanks for the video!!

    DO NOT attempt this without a straight pick. The the little red locking pick broke on me. That plug is extremely difficult to remove.

    When you replace the throttle body do you still have to program it? or is just replace the piece and that's it?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Kristian Castillo #Thegreenjeep Thanks for checking us out! This would depend on the vehicle. A vast majority of throttle bodies will be plug and play and Learn as it goes however some models have to have a reprogramming for it. You should be able to see if your vehicle needs this in the owners manual or call your local dealer with your VIN.

    My 2013 Jeep Wrangler will not accelerate above 3500 rpms. I was thinking it was the TB. It isn't that hard to replace so I might just give it a try. Any thoughts as to what else could cause this issue?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Rob H We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
