    Thanks for the remote tune! My car already had some basic tune by a local car audio specialist who did the install, but what RAW-CAt did was on another level. The difference before and after the tune was literally jaw dropping. Best decision ever!

    I'd bet 90% of people would be totally happy with a remote tune from a competent tuner.
    You might find people lining up for this service.

    Thanks for another very informative video. I love these tuning videos. I always learn something when you “jump into the laptop”. Quick question for you. Do you always use the same house curve for every tune? This curve looks the same as the one you use in your car and the one you used in the Honda Jazz and I think the same one in the Lambo.
    Do you talk to customers beforehand and try to get a feel for their listening preference and build a curve around that? Personally I like to start my bass rise around 400hz and I always prefer some downward tilt in the upper frequencies starting around 2k hz. Similar to the ATF curve. It just works for me in my car. I guess a lot of it depends on what the individual system can actually do.

    • @RAW-CAt
      @RAW-CAt  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I always inform the owners that this house curve that I am using is my personal and later we can adjust to the personal liking. All of the people that I tuned for heard their fully tuned system sounding nice for the first time. And spectral balance preference develops over time with experience. First impressions are always the strongest. With the Lambo tune, we changed the spectral balance off camera and the owner had tone controls to adjust the top and bottom end. So far the feedback is positive, so I continue to use this house curve.

    You can do time correction with umic usb.
    The driver's mid-bass or mid-range speaker in 3-way is the reference source, you measure the distance with a ruler, change it to ms and you have a standard.
    For subsequent speakers, you measure the time between the pattern pulse along with the interval time between the generated pulses on the playback track and the speaker's response.
    Find out how it measures atm in the helix.
    The second option is to use the aux socket and play the impulses online instead of from wav in a similar way.

    Nice video.
    How about automatic time aligment in helix Software instead of tape measure technic? I believe it will work with USB mic.
    Would it be better then just a tape measure?

    • @Elberoth
      @Elberoth หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is possible it has been done this way. The car already had a tune done by local car audio specialist - the distances entered into the Helix DSP software looked about right, so we just left the time alignment the way it was.

    Great tune again! I wonder: For the sub...if you have that much level, why not keep the low end and only reduce level peaks seen at 70 and 180, to make it look like a lower playing sub at target level? Is it because you would need to do shallow -20 db filtering (multiple stacked on top of each other) and then kill the phase plot/sound quality?

    • @RAW-CAt
      @RAW-CAt  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Because no matter the level, a small shallow sub in "no space" box will not play with authority. This is the case where there is a measurable response but it does not sound good at all.

    Should just add some beefy tactile transducers to get the deep bass feeling even though it's not being played in the air.

    • @RAW-CAt
      @RAW-CAt  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is an option, however, tactile transducers need to have an active channel of processing and amplification.

      No, all measurements were taken using a moving microphone method and spatial averaging.

    Wouldn't that sub work better as a front subwoofer?

    • @RAW-CAt
      @RAW-CAt  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The owner is not willing to sacrifice the leg room. Due to the shape of the box it won't fit snugly into the foot well. All front subs are custom made.

    • @Elberoth
      @Elberoth หลายเดือนก่อน

      The sub sits under a passanger seat. That is basicly a front sub, just 50cm further back than the front midwoofers.

    Mmmm, is this an advertisement for this service? Once I have my build done I might well be up for this as you are a few hundred miles away from me.
    You mentioned that the UMIK-1 could not do the impulse response, do you mean remotely or entirely as I have just got one the other day specifically for tuning/measuring the car.

    • @RAW-CAt
      @RAW-CAt  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      USB microphones drift in time so you can't make reliable measurements with them. There is a workaround, however it's difficult and very time consuming.

      @@MrCitizenKaned It is a good cheap mic, however it is not calibrated, hence not as accurate as the Umik.

      I used umic for tuning with rta and calibrated daytonaudio imm6 Trrs for time/phase alignment. Latest one was not good for bass rta compare with um8c.
      Umic usb gives different time results for the same location, source for measurement one after another.
      And again good and clear video. I used your technique to setup my audison, after many not successful tries with "ears".
      What I found the right house curve is very important, for cars the bass range should be higher, otherwise "no bass" during driving.
