I'm Obsessed with the new Star Wars Unlimited Card Game

- You know how I love my card games!!
Star Wars Unlimited is an all new one with some of the smoothest, most consistent gameplay I've seen in a card game yet. I've done some tournaments, drafts, casual games, and I can't get enough of it!

Any of you trying out the Star Wars Unlimited card game at all? I did a $5,000 tournament a week back and took... 9th. Tiebreakers kept me out of Top 8. 😭
Pro tip for you Jared (at least this is what I do) - when you need to set your hand aside to do thing, place the cards facedown on your deck, but rotate them 90 degrees. Keeps them from getting mixed up with resources or other stuff.
I like the concept. The limited amount however will probably hurt it in the longterm if not changed.
Hey man, glad you're enjoying it. I picked up a few boosters randomly at launch because I'm a cardboard crack addict of course, and a starter deck later I got hooked and got a few friends hooked as well. We now regularly have a group of 12-22ppl at our LGS, and with the SHD pre-release coming up I'm hyped beyond compare for the Jabba Showcase.
Out of this world
@@simplegarak Personally, I put them on top of my discard pile (since they'll be facing the opposite direction of them), but I like your method too.
this ain't even sponsored so it must be a big deal
It's actually really good. I've played it a few times and I really enjoyed it.
Its time to let it go lol
But how's the smell, Jared?
New card smell is new card smell
Okay, _now_ you just took me back to that scene. How long has it been?
Smells like Mos Eisley
Smells like Jabbas bungus
Let's see how long it takes for Jared to sniff the booster packs...
...huh. Not a single huff. Missed opportunity if you ask me.
If he didn’t sniff the cards…
He must be in trouble
Off‑camera, obviously. 💀
I heard "both players alternate between actions" and nearly made a "it's just like modern Yu-Gi-Oh" joke, but hearing that there are no interrupts put an end to that.
as a yugioh player its more like what people think old school yugioh is like with alot of back and forth and skill expression.
As somebody who used to play Yu-Gi-Oh, what you said doesn't make any sense to me.
This is going to be the 2nd card game Jared has gotten me to play..
Jared.... I have LITTLE MONEY
@@chrishuu lol yeah, its 3rd taple top tcg, i know now that having any hope of saving " real money" is no longer a thing i should concern my self with lol.
Set 2 is coming out next week. FFG has no idea how popular it would be. Set 1 reprints coming before the holidays and they was able to double set 3 before it left the factory.
direct correlation between when you subscribe to Jared and when your bank account trends down hahah
Jared must be really enjoying the game, because he didn't even review the cards' smell.
His most underrated video
My main complaint about all these cool card games is that I don't live near people who actually play them. Only Pokemon, Yugioh, Digimon and Magic are played within 2 hours of where I live.
Yup, it's hard for new card games to take hold. I went all in on the Transformers one from a few years back, we even had a local scene. But Hasbro pulled the plug two years in because it wasn't making MtG numbers...
Call your closest game stores and just ask if they do events. SWU is all about fun events and since the new set comes out soon, tons of places are having prereleases.
Was the same in my area until we started going to stores and showing them the game. Now have 6 stores within an hour supporting it. Even Star City Games is supporting it with tournaments now.
So FOUR games? lucky you. I live in a country in a city where nearest boardgame club is half a day away. And they propbaly just playing munchkin and monopoly there.
Spell Table could be right for you.
My brother runs the card shop at Zulu's in Bothell, and has been super into Star Wars Unlimited. Nice to see some love for it.
I play at Zulu's!
@@projared That's pretty funny. I knew you lived in the Seattle area, but wasn't sure how close to Zulu's you were.
@@projared hi
Man, hearing that any card can be a resource made nostalgic about Duel Master. This looks very fun I would like to try it but i have nobody to play with
You can not hide from XIII forever, Jared!
Right!!!!
The more you harass him about it the less likely he's going to do it.
@@Dragonsbeard. Peer Pressure is real though haha
@@Grimm-Gamingconsidering he already doesn't want to play through it again, and had technical issues trying to get it set up to play it again.
The last thing he wants to listen to is people harassing him about it. And honestly, I find it exhausting seeing it every time he puts up a new video.
@@Dragonsbeard. didn't know there were technical issues

Running red green tarkin aggro and double yellow boba! Huge fan of the game; played it first at Pax East!
This game is so fun and the way you demonstrated the gameplay is fantastic! I love playing a Leia deck 😊
I don't care for Star Wars. I don't care for card games. But yes, I will listen to Jared ramble because I've been binging his content lately anyway.
Same
Also same. Besides that, I love how rational his points are whenever he both praises, and criticizes things. So even if it's not something I particularly care about, I still enjoying hearing his oftentimes very reasonable thoughts regarding the topic. Because he's seldom overly adoring or hateful about the things he discusses, and even when he is, he always presents a good reason for those feelings. Rather than just praising or hating for the sake of it, like I feel other TH-camrs have a tendency to do.
"Oh wow this looks cool I wonder where I can buy it"
SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE (lol)
Set 1 and 2 they wasn’t able to do anything with the print run. They couldn’t imagine how popular it was going to be. Set 1 reprints coming before the holiday and they was able to double set 3 print before it left the factory. The rares and down are extremely cheap so I’d start with those. Most Legendary’s are really expensive though.
Bamboozle is one of my favorite art pieces in the game right now, and I will fight you on that lmao. It's a fantastic caricature because it hilariously captures the vibes of the original scene. And that's what's most important for me.
I'm still crying the death of Now in the 90s, but it's great to see you interested in this game. I've been loving it since way before it was even released, watching TH-cam videos about it since last November.
This is such a good game. It is so well built. No losing to being mana short. It all comes down to your playing, deck-building and resourcing skills.
This game is amazing! I'm lucky enough to have bought starter decks and 2 booster boxes of Spark. These are HARD to find now! Can't wait to play the Shadows set!
As someone that hasn’t watched a Disney movie since the first Wreck-It Ralph, they’ve been *killing* it with their tabletop and TCG stuff lately. The Villainous games are a special favorite of mine solely with their art direction. I even got into the homebrewing scene!
Where is my "the power of one, the power of two, the power of many "deck?
Fak off, don't bring that 💩 to this. Not even as a meme.
🤯🔫
its on Fett's Starship
I’ve been in love with the game since launch, awesome to see that you’re enjoying it as well! Bit of a worlds collide experience for me, seeing one of my favorite TH-camrs picking up my current favorite game!
That was an awesome video! I didn't even know about Star Wars Unlimited, and you made it look and sound fun! Much love!
Glad to see this video, I've been excited for your take on it! Would be down to see some videos on this here or on twitch even
I had heard you talk about this on stream/twitter a few times. Exciting to get to see it in action. I don't go in much for TCG's these days, my Magic days are long behind me but I can always appreciate the excitement the bring out in you.
This was great to watch! Thank you for your hard work and for sharing this.
Been a while since I’ve seen a ProJared video on my FYP. Love to see it!
I’ve heard great things about this, so it’s awesome to see you do a video on it!
Thanks a lot for sharing, it looks super interesting!
I'd love to see some actual games or even a full draft!
I hope you get that sponsorship :P
This game seems pretty sick! I hope they make a cool digital version of it.
Thanks for sharing Jared!
"Hello, my name is Professional Jared, and I'm a card-aholic."

"Hi Jared."

Thanks for the upload. I've had an insanely shitty week and just hearing you gush about something you like made me forget about it for a while
FFG is quickly becoming one of my favorite companies. Between Marvel Champions, Arkham Horror LCG, and this I may as well just have my paychecks sent directly to them
Im so glad that newer card games are taking on the Yu-Gi-Oh idea where both players interact with each other back and forth no matter who's turn it is. I feel like card games that dont do this are kinda archaic now
I mean that's because some decks do play on your turn. The back and forth comes from from LoR I believe.
I don't really understand what the 'yugioh idea' is you're talking about- do you mean just the ability to play cards and activate abilities on your opponent's turn? Cuz Magic the Gathering has done that since... 1993.
@@Level_1_Frog Yeah it's obvious you weren't playing Magic in the 90's.
@@zenmastakilla that's true! But just remind me real quick- how old is Counterspell and Mana Drain again? I just wanted some clarification about what op meant by 'back and forth no matter who's turn it is'. And it's not exactly like yugioh was stuffed with push and pull interactions from it's inception either- setting a monster face down and passing isn't exactly riveting gameplay.
@@zenmastakillainstants and interrupts were in Alpha or am I missing something about the yugioh comment?
I saw a stack of these cards on the counter in my LGS, and was immediately interested. And now thanks to Jared I have an idea of how to play!
great video I want to play that!
I like you talking about stuff you like and you got me interested in star wars unlimited
New videos are always exciting to see!
Dude I had no idea this was a thing - this looks awesome! Thanks Jerd, This Is The Way. 😎
I was obsessed with Now In The 90s. And now it's incomplete. I'm still pissed off by this.
Interesting! The way you choose your resource every turn is similar to the Fire Emblem TCG, actually! I always loved that desicion making aspect of that game!

How did I miss this game coming out? Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I'll definitely be checking it out with my son.
You're a seriously inspiring and talented man, Jared. The passion always leaps off the screen when you talk about something you enjoy, it's really palpable. And your skill at speaking and presenting has come impressive distances since the ol' days of reviews like Two Worlds and PS Move. Always glad to be here for your uploads, my man, now as back then! Keep them coming.
The passion shines through in every video. It's truly inspiring.
Have you seen the Jirard documentary? Wait, what am I saying...of course you haven't.
I'm glad you found a card game you love! Flesh and Blood is that for me; I had to stop playing for a couple of years to sort out some financial things, but I'm getting back into it now and I'm so unbelievably excited! It's a game that's very close to my heart now, so I understand how wonderful it is to find a TCG that is truly special to you.
I tried Flesh and Blood and I found it so damn stressful, man. It looks cool, but I'm not wired right for it. Everything down to the draw step being where it is makes me sweat that I'm not using my cards right, which is a thing in every TCG, but FaB makes it visceral to me for some reason. By the time the games end I feel like I need a smoke. I'm in a terrible place where the perfect game for me was Magic circa 2014/15 or so, and I don't know any game that's similar enough to Magic, but not taking inspiration from Commander. Magic feels like the soul died a corporate death, but other people who might agree with me there would pin that blame on wokeness or something. I don't wanna be in those guys's camp.
@@fastpuppy2000 Give Grand archive a look.
this reminds me a little bit of Genius Invokation, and I LOVE this turn system as opposed to the other one where only one person acts and then the other one acts.
I got into the game mostly for collecting but I finally sat down and built some decks the other day and I'm pretty excited to actually give it a try! I may have paid way too much for my boxes but at least I have an ample supply of cards to make decks for myself and others lol
Epic new projared upload
Critikal is obsessed with Magic (again) and ProJared is obsessed with Star Wars Unlimited. Coincidence? I think not.
This is one of the best TCG games ever made! Glad to have you in the community Jared!
Looking good with that bit of grey, Jared!
This was great! Looks interesting
The game is so good, been playing it since it came out and cannot wait for the next set to drop here
This is cool, would love to see some games from you.
For a man with the RPG mindset of needing to hold onto everything until you absolutely need it, I can only imagine the absolute torture of the resource system demanding that you throw away those precious cards that you'd rather hold onto until the end credits, just in case.
As a Warhammer player I love this card game's ideas and am interested. Thank you so much for showing this off.
This game is fantastic! Can't wait for set 2 to come out this Friday!
The personality shines through and keeps viewers coming back.
ProJared making a video about being obsessed with Star Wars Unlimited was not on my 2024 bingo card but I am so excited right now
I heard you talking about this game over on Twitch, and from what I've seen here it looks really cool! Too bad there isn't a MTG: Arena equivalent yet, since that's how I'd ideally play, but I understand it's still very new.
Also, I dig you making videos like this. Something that you're passionate about and is relatively easier to make a video compared to a review on a 60hr+ RPG. I love the big Final Fantasy videos as much as the next guy, but it's nice to see more variety as well!
There is a fan made one that's pretty good called Karabast. You just play through your browser. There is also ForceTable that is against an AI. It's good for practicing limited sort of how there's DraftSim for MTG.
I would absolutely love to see some games!! This seems really really cool!
My interest has definitely been sparked. I’ll check my locals and see what’s available
And I would really love to watch you play on stream etc to get a better idea and just to see the play styles etc
This game is getting popular at my LGS and this is the exact type of vid I was looking for to understand it a bit better, thanks!
Tack så mycket för videon! 🇸🇪
If you like this I recommend looking at their living card games like Lord of the Rings the card game and Marvel Champions. I also highly recommend the Dark Souls card game from Steamforged games. These can be played solo or cooperatively and they can be TOUGH. My favorite of these is Dark Souls.
You never disappoint!
Fantasy Flight just knows how to make games. I've been playing their LCGs for a decade now, and they're all excellent. I miss Warhammer: 40k Conquest so much, but each new game is still excellently made and well thought out.
Glad to see one finally getting more popular, as that was the fate of most of their card games, unfortunately. This is a lot simpler than many of their other entries, but I think that's why it's catching on so well. It's much easier to explain and get into.
Glad to see you're hooked!
I would like to see some more of this, it looks like a interesting card game
I got a question. Where do I buy these cards? Walmart? Amazon? GameStop?
Never been a card game kind of person but I still enjoy these videos for something different👍
This does look like a pretty good card game, I’ll definitely consider it when I’m ready to go back into debt
As a lapsed Pokemon player and a Star Wars fan, I love SWU. My competitive deck is Leia Red while my causal one is Hera/Specters. Playing in the Shadows of the Galaxy prerelease this weekend.
i love hearing people talk about card games i know nothing about, its just fun to me for some reason
I think the meta for this game is pretty solved until set 2 comes out. Boba decks have over a 60% tournament win rate, at least that's the info from limitlesstcg.
Boba is the best leader in the game but there are decks that beat him pretty consistently.
Wonderful video love it very cool
I was part of the half that jumped up, ran out of my house to go to my local game store, and only after I was halfway there did I realise it was 3am.
It's very DPS heavy, at least with the starter set. I freaking love the "I Am Your Father" card. It's hilarious!
I played the star wars card game alot in the 90s at my neighbors house. It was fun
I can't wait to see Jared talk on this more
God damn it man, thats reaching and adiction level attitude hahaha
I won my windu with my Sabine green here playing in México, te adoro Jared!
Definitely seems worth checking out. As a fan of tc games and star wars, I hope the game becomes something bigger.
Now begins Jared's board games era. You could do skits like Board James too if you want, that content has been missing from my feed for a long time!
Yo might hafta give this a try. Looks fun as hell
And the 2nd set of cards comes out in just a couple weeks. I've already got my preorder in. The decks I've built are G/Y Boba Fett and R/G Vader. Boba Fett is missing a couple pieces due to card prices, but the Vader deck wasn't too bad. Definitely enjoying the game so far.
The engagement with the audience makes it feel like a community.
In used to love playing the original Star Wars TCG with my brother. I need to check this out.
I haven't had enough time to play this game as much as I want to, but from the 3ish games that I've played, I love it!
I can't wait for the prerelease for set two this weekend!! Love this fame :)
Creativity knows no bounds here. Keep pushing the envelope!
Me too! There Is a great community here in Italy and the game Is played a lot!
super happy that the cards are not just copy paste scenes from the movies
Between this and Disney Lorcana, I like that playing any card as a resource has become a popular "fix" for the mana system. MTG's mana/land complexity is part of it's depth, but there's so much RNG to it that I have trouble saying it's a better system now.
Well mtg has had the double sided lands for a while as well which is Basically the same as being able to play your cards as resources, it's just not All cards. This sounds fun but it also inevitably makes decks a lot more consistent, which narrows the design space a little bit since introducing cards that are "hard to play" becomes a lot less risky.
The idea is at least as old as Duel Masters, from, like, 2005
This actually looks really cool!
If you like this you'll love Altered TCG. It comes out in September and coincidentally has a lot of the same strengths as SWU but has consistent, amazing art too!
Lorcana is pretty interesting as well
Sounds cool. Would like to see more.
At last. Jared has succumbed to the Dark Side! This game is really fun, no joke. And as enjoyable as the 2-player head-to-head mode is, the "Twin Suns" format is awesome! I think the game is even better multiplayer.
I started a week ago and I'm hooked it's great
