A live, semi-improvised performance, all on hardware, and inspired by all the existential science fiction I've been reading/watching/playing/writing. Now that I'm digging into the Analog Rytm MkII a little more, I'm really enjoying how its performance mode and fill button can vary a song while playing live. And once again, the Monomachine serves multiple roles, this time as a beautiful and weird vocal synth, external audio processor of the Rytm, and drum machine.
Elektron Analog Rytm MkII - Sample playback/mangling, drums
Teenage Engineering OP-1 (not shown) - Two samples played from the Rytm (busy synth sequence, high flute)
Elektron Analog Four MkII + Elektron Analog Heat MkII - Four synth parts (bass, arp, melody, harmony)
Elektron Monomachine MkII - Vocal synth, External audio processing of Rytm, Drums
The OP-1 samples were written a bunch of months back, but otherwise the song was composed and arranged in the last couple of days. Performed entirely live and uploaded as is, with only a little compression/limiting on the master.

Excellent track, man. You're in full control at all times! I'm amazed you managed to make a track in a 7/8 time sig using ALL 4 PAGES. Beautiful performance =)

Hey thanks! 56 steps or bust! And thanks for pointing out that Hardware Jams forum on your video (which is how I got there).

@@JayHosking that's awesome. Highest I have gone is 28 steps. Any further and I would have been stuck in paging hell =P. And no problem man, I learned about it from one of Oscillator Sink's Digitone videos

Hardware jams FTW. You've got a mint setup and sound. And this vid is just excellent.

I like how you explain everything without taking 20 mins to do so. Keep up the good work.

Loved your performance, I felt Daniel Hansson watching from above, laughing at what Elektrons magical machines are creating today.

Stunning. I've only touched 1% of the monomachine's capabilities during the week I've owned it so far, truly inspirational to listen to the tracks of artists that know what they are doing!

can't believe there are still ppl disliking this. You are one of the best out there. I have seen a lot of these dawless videos, but I always end up on your channel. It has inspired me to do some jams myself. Thnx for the inspiration.

You’ve really inspired me to get a lot better Jay. I was stuck in a bit of a rut but tonight I’m learning all about different time sigs and it’s opening up brave new worlds for me. Well Jell of the Monomachine though, doubt I’ll ever own one with today’s prices. Got the other silver box though ;-)

This sounds like something Coldplay might produce if they dug into dawless jamming. I mean that as a compliment - this is great!
