    I love how you use a 3 bar pattern of 4/4, it's not cut time but it's so refreshing for it not to be 4x4 pounding, I've heard that spice in Alice in Chains songs, sneaking in turnarounds that catch you off guard but not to where you need a calculator to figure out where 1 is...I dig it 💥

    Wow, you've got a nice setup with beautiful instruments. But more important it surpasses the usual boring stuff with excessive gear out there (how the hell you've got some much different gear;). I'm hearing you come from a band, composing music. In this piece love that it's repetitive but never boring. Great you added typo to share thoughts on the gear and sound, It's really inspiring and I wonder if you have a video both electronics and nonelectronics out there. I'm going to check out the rest of the songs.. Thanks! cheers Rob

    • @JayHosking
      @JayHosking 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you already have a few moog monosynths, then you'll get diminishing returns from the A4mk2. That said, the A4mk2 is absolutely stellar and I've been using it nearly constantly since I got it (even in another project behind the scenes). The OTmk2 is a ton of fun and really good for mixing in a bunch of synths into an overall, cohesive sound (including performance effects, aka "scenes"); it also gives you tons of sample power, though your mileage will vary with that. If you're missing that master-level performance feeling, I'd consider the OT, but if you're looking for new sounds and new analogue workflow, the A4mk2. Best of luck, and thanks!

    first.. i love your music and your workflow.. but was wondering, .. have several questions actually.. fact is, im looking for a analog drummachine,.. first i was into the RD8 from Behringer.. cause, lots of analog power for the money and hey.. its a remake of a classic.. but then i stumble upon your music, .. and the Drumbrute Impact.. and wow... what a very nice sounding drummachine that thing is.. But, theres also a bigger brother of the Impact, so i was wondering, why the Impact and not his bigger brother?? and maybe u are something familiar with the Behringer RD-8 already? any thoughts??

    • @JayHosking
      @JayHosking 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haven't had a chance to try out the RD-8 yet, but I love the 808 sound and I think the RD-8 is a good example where Behringer have gone beyond simply cloning, as regards their roller, shaping, etc. I'm sure the RD-8 is cool. I really love the DrumBrute Impact because it's got a rough but pretty, modern sound, fantastic kick and snare. The big brother, the DrumBrute proper, I don't like the snare very much, and while the master filter is a good thing to have, I find the DBI's master drive to take you into much more interesting sonic territory. But ultimately I'm sure all are fun and good choices. Best of luck!

    • @JayHosking
      @JayHosking 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The A4 has a lot of tricks up its sleeve in terms of sequencing and using the minimal voices creatively. These lead to sound decisions that are kind of unique. The oscillators and filters themselves sound fine but aren't particularly unique. It's in all the ways the A4 is used that its sound comes out, I think. As such, I'm not sure I can easily point to another synth and identify the same feeling from it. Hope this is useful, and thanks!

    • @bleighhh
      @bleighhh 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It kind of answers. I am in love with those bass you pull out from it though, buttery and growly at the same time. I wonder if there is a name for that kind of sound, and whethe there is a process I can follow to reproduce it. For myself, I don't think four voices is enough in most instances, but it's the majority of what you need (one other polyphonic voice would be enough). That said, you could get clever with the Analog Four's oscillators to add major/minor intervals. And thanks!

    • @JayHosking
      @JayHosking 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Got a Digitakt recently, but yeah, I generally prefer the DBI's sequencer for traditional drums. Between the roller bar and smart randomization, it's a more improvisatory drum machine. I also like that all the parameters are on the face of it. The Elektron way has more depth, those great p-locks, and melodic possibilities, so it isn't necessarily that I think one is better than the other.
