To be honest, I wanted to an archeologist when I grew up. I love the feeling of discovering abandoned places with such history and meaning: even searching places that aren’t as popular as the Great Wall or The Mayan Temple. It’s breathtaking...and watching these makes me want to pursue my life dream when I have the money to travel. I appreciate these videos
I saw in Palermo an awesome place with some cool painted walls, it was a pallace. I took some photos. It was about to be restored, it was abandoned for a long time (Palazzo Constantino Palermo). I have not yet posted photos on Flickr so far

you should visit Diplomat Hotel here in Baguio City,Philippines........ Diplomat Hotel is an abandoned structure at the top of Dominican Hill Baguio and reportedly a haunted place..At time the hotel was still operational, the employees and guests claimed that they have been hearing strange sounds and headless apparitions can often be seen during the night inside the hotel. According to local residents, this could have been the ghosts of nuns and priests who were beheaded during World War II.
Local residents living nearby claimed of strange noises in late hours of night. For instance, despite the fact that the place didn’t have doors, they could still hear banging doors, windows, clattering of dishes, and voices of screaming and agonizing people...plsssss.....
That place reminds me of the ringling house in sarasota FL.

Internet is making it really easy to find crazy stuff like this. I'd try Atlas Obscura to see what weird stuff is near you or search for urban exploration groups in your area.

Speaking of "leaving no papers behind" remember filming the insane asylum in Iowa named Clarinda? Wasn't there an area with patient records left behind? I'm curious because I recently learned on Ancestry I had a great uncle who was in Clarinda for 15 years then mysteriously disappeared. Was he buried in Clarinda's cemetery? Could something about him be in those papers? Seems the asylum should have turned the records over to the county.

There was some writing on the ceiling around 3:30. Obviously in a different language but I wanna figure out what it says.
So I have tried to figure out what the writing was, it's in Latin but I'm pretty sure I got the place wrong. Can only do so much not being educated in Latin. Anyway, what I got was "TEMP oile RVS made in the city of CVI TEMP."

If you're in the UK, in a random field in Lincolnshire, there are 4 of those radar dishes abandoned. Google RAF Stenigot. A great explore x
Josh, that room was majestic and the communications base was way cool, but the view of that valley was the winner. Get a good photo of that and you could sell prints it's that beautiful. Enjoy the experience......and the food. I hope the pasta was what it should be.

You were in a communications relay station. Two pathways on each side for bidirectional communications. Had you been able to laser site the center axis of one dish (any of them) you would have been able spot another station in the far distance. These were line of site relay points, thus the reason it's on a mountain peak. Flat land has a maximum of of 2.9 to 3.1 miles visibility for a person standing 5' 9" to 6' 7" tall due to the curvature of the earth. The higher up you are the greater distance you can see. It's possible the distant station could have been as much as 300 miles away.
Is that Tolfa ace high? If you're near Rome, check out ostia antica. You would absolutely love it. An abandoned roman city.

Josh you need to come to Red Oak, Iowa. The town was built on a railroad junction and the town was called Red Oak junction, because of the railroad people started to move in and businesses opened, but the town really took off when the Murphy calendar factory opened, which is 2 massive buildings and one smaller one. But after that, the railroad closed down and a lot of people moved out, leading to the factory to close around I think 1970s but I can’t remember, and it’s been abandoned ever since, and no ones ever even really tried to get in

Craftsman used to take such pride in their work and created amazing buildings. It's a pity nowadays it's just get em up quick and cheap.
That's a tropospheric array. They use them to bounce UHF radio signals off the troposphere to shoot around the curvature of the Earth. Mobile military units still use this tech currently.
Tropo-Scatter uses microwaves signals which bounce off the troposphere and received by matching antenna at the other end.
Love you and your videos but you seem to do the shortest videos of any other explorer. Others can take 20 minutes just exploring one house. If we get bored we can always fast forward, but yours are never boring, just need to be longer.

You should visit abandoned places in Vegas like the Roadhouse casino.
if you're in Florence head a little ways out into the countryside and explore Monteriggioni and Forli. Forli is the birthplace of Caterina Sforza one of legendary nobles from the renaissance along with her castle, but beware it is a ancient medieval town and you feel it in the earth itself. Monteriggioni is also a medieval town but it does have older estates which are very good to look through. If you are heading directly to Roma please look through the old city as it contains some of the older builds of the city.
I'm one of those who, though I like to watch these, I'm always thinking what a waste that nobody used that.
This would be known as a "point to point" communications station. Just like you said there would be bases on a lot of the mountains. Signals would transmit from station to station until it reaches it's intended destination. Only problem is that if a signal is bounced around too much, it can degrade and give false data. some fruit for thought.

I saw lots of abandoned mansions in Northern Ohio, near Kirtland. There is an abandoned communications station West of Condon, Oregon also.
Where is the mansion? This is definitely, now number one on my list for my compound in case of the zombie apocalypse.
now I really wanna go to Italy even more not just to urbex but to also visit my family there and one of my relatives was in the Italian military in the 70's so I wouldn't be surprised if he knows of that base or other ones like it.
I am sure this place was in a movie. They had to get there to record the disaster and then they heard / recorded something else. What movie was it? one of the Transformers or a disaster movie. I see the scene in my head but can't say the movie.
