9 out of 10 people that hate on bags are either broke, stupid, or have never been in a car with properly built air suspension. Handling all comes down to the dampeners. If you want a sporty ride, go with performance shocks, if you want a smooth ride, stick with OEM. Simple as that. Bags never pop, and very rarely leak if they're installed by a professional. There's a reason all super car & high end luxury car manufacturers all use air suspension. It's nothing like it was in the old days... Hell, even most semi trucks now a days are sitting on bags.
I own a 2015 Honda crv and I put aftermarket tires and wheels and the tears rub a little bit when I have a full tank of gas and with the weight of a full tank of gas any little pot hole i hit my rear tires rub a little bit. I'm needing at least 1" to 2" of lift to fix this, would your air struts give me that extra lift and if not would you have any suggestions? Thank you for your video. 👍
I'm on the car show scene and tons of cars are bagged. Pro and cons to everything but if you live in an area with awful ass roads its nice to go up a little and at the show drop it to the ground. yes there is tire wear and leaks and bags blowing out but that's just the price of playing. all in all a good system is 1500-2500 and install is relative to your help. i had it back in 96 on an Explorer and it was mad cool. will get it again and i had minimal issues. bags are gonna leak so put they shit back up and ride out!
I need some help. I have a Chevy Cruze on bags. I had to go with bags over coil overs because that’s all they had for my car. So I have the 3p performance airlift suspension with ksport coil overs but it is really bumpy on dirt roads or any little bumpy on the road. I know ksport isn’t the best brand but I thought it would be good. Any recommendations on other brands for coil overs or what should I do?
I just came across this video and I love the fact you bag any car.... I have a 1986 Pontiac fiero and would like to bag it. What would be the cost to bag my fiero and how long will it take to do it. Thank you.
if you pop a bag you're out of luck until a replacement arrives. especially running around on the lower settings you can rub on the bellows and pop it. if you blow a strut you got bigger problems.
Don't get confused people. If your doing track days and autox, coils. Done. The other 99% that don't, bags are a great option. Air ride has improved a lot over the last fee years but if you're not interested in getting very low, than this video wasn't directed towards you anyway.
That's the biggest setback is it just costs too much. $500 for a lowering kit or $3000+ in addition to all the down time for the modifications and installation...
+Alberto Pettine depends on if you have an auto leveler. but at the end of the day, air suspension is still not the best for track. just get a set of coils. lowering your car too much looks dumb anyways. also, alignment issues come into play as soon as you move it from where it was when it was aligned. stick with coils.
+Alberto Pettine air suspension is for posers and tuners. Why do you think whole motorsport industry uses coil/oil bath/gas..we tried to setup air shocks but it is never as smooth as classical system spring/oil bath.
I been thinking about installing this in my car I just wondered how it would handle with some tight turns hard Maneuvering if there would be any body roll
It is great for posing/schampooning but never work under load. Many years they tried to push air suspension for MTB DH racing, MX, motorsport and so on. Doesn't exist system that beats coil spring in oil bath and filled with gas. Air system is just for controlling low/high speed rebound and so on. Hell we tried to setup air shock and it always ended up in bin because coil/oil is smooth and neat.
David Hajes False. Just need the right bags for the job. Tell your "it can't work under load" to all the 57,000lb+ semis using bags for millions of miles.

JoeIsCrazyWillman and that's why it is not used in motorsport ;-) for fine tuning useless, dodgy regulation. three way regulation oil/spring with air cartriges for high/low bumbs regulation
Something that needs pointed out, to clear up an issue that is being ignored, you can't simply raise and lower your ride at whim without paying a price, suspension geometry is setup on angles, whit the ride height set, if you change that the camber of the wheel will adjust from positive to negative until the ride height is back to where it was setup. This is impossible to get exact with air, you can get close, but will never keep it true as you will with a spring, because the pressure will not be constant, the weather can change it, you will see this immediately with tire wear, a factory system is constantly monitoring pressure, keeps adjusting. My experience is, unlike with steel springs they rot, leaking down and making it impossible to drive, the steel will wear out, but not before the rubber bags. I want air for an overload, but more than that, they are a novelty for those with money to spend.
Listen, of you need to pitch your CTEK chargers (which I do own btw), just be up front about it. You aren't fooling anyone by trying to slide it into a video about Air Suspension and the fact you think we are dumb enough not to notice is insulting. Your channel is becoming CTEK click-bait and I'm considering unsubscribing if it continues.
+PlaistowTim We definitely don't think our audience is dumb. The video series is openly "Presented by CTEK" so we're not hiding anything. Just like many shows on TV, this is content with brand integration. We're also not asking our audience to click anywhere to buy a CTEK charger either. As content creators, we need to find sources of income to continue creating, so working with cool sponsors that are in line with our content direction is very important for us. We had an idea to feature car builders working towards SEMA in November and CTEK came on board to sponsor the series leading up to the SEMA Show.
I've been wanting to add air to my 73 E100, the springs are worn out, and my wheelchair lift puts a lot of strain on it during entry and exit, causing the passenger side suspension to break down, you can't simply put heavier springs in that side without ruining handling because the strain is only when the lift is deployed.
Then get helper springs, overload springs... air suspensions are notoriously problematic ... if you feel you must, only get air assist during lift deployment, keep your regular suspension spring ride..
Thought about running them with my springs as overloads, I have to add leaves, replacing one on each side, the bags would help prevent wear due to the load on the suspension enter/exit, much like the bags did in the front coils of my 99, due to age, they have dryrot and require cutting out to replace them if I felt like it. Unfortunately, there is no other choice as it is during deployment, you will forever be replacing the springs, air is the only way to cut down or eliminate the wear. I don't want to be dependent on air, the springs will hold it is anything went wrong with the air, I just want it to assist them.
I have over 1 million miles driving air ride vehicles/ 18 wheelers. I hate air ride. Notoriously breakage prone money pits. AirLift makes air helper/overloads air bags .. but as the primary suspension I would stay away. 18 wheeler systems are made to be durable and they still fail way to often. I could own a very nice used car for what I've spent in air ride repair... over $5000. Keep working at the problem til you find a viable solution. Good luck.. I'm trying to save you money and hearthache. I would wager NO aftermarket add on air ride kit for cars is nearly as rugged as stock 18 wheeler air ride systems.. proceed with extreme caution.
Closeoutracer There is no other option, it's why you see every wheelchair van with a lift leaning to the passenger side while going down the road, a rear lift being better in a suspension aspect, but not for an interior if you are the driver, can't put anything inside, need a path to roll through. Aside running hydraulic outriggers during enter/exit, had mine dot been 40 years old already, it wouldn't have broken down so fast, I found the older ones are cheaper and easier to repair, if you can find the parts.
Slxxpy Jan Some people hop their airbagged vehicles similar to hydraulics and are fine, as long as they don't go crazy. If you look as suspensions on semi trucks and Cement trucks, as well as some other large vehicles where they want a smoother ride or adjustable height (like semi trailers being aired up for ground clearance, and lowered to different loading dock heights to load/unload), that should give you an indication how strong airbags can be. If they can support a 57,000lb semi on long hauls, it can support your 3,500lb pedestrian car no problem.
The day I see a track car with an air suspension will be the day I believe every word in this vid. Else air sus is pure rice, or rather for road/stance use.
any air ride system that's actually worth it would be ridiculously expensive like a factory setup that lowers at higher speeds. most cheap aftermarket systems aren't really meant to be driven at different heights without realignment at every adjustment. toe and chamber would be to big an issue on affordable systems.
Your performance alignment doesn’t matter when you’re scrapping pebbles along the ground or loading it onto a trailer. Align it how you want it at the height you want it to drive the best- and realize you’re gonna have more negative camber the lower you go from there. Not hard.
