I've hit both the 455 and the 460 (in reg flex). They do get out there - and forgiving. 455 goes like the Callaway epic flash sub zero and the 460 is samey to M2/4/6. Good clubs.
10/13/2022. Picked up a pristine 455 in Japan for ¥12,000 or about 72GBP. Got delivered last night and can’t wait to try it out. My TS 3 got a scratch on the crown from letting my friend’s son hit it. I love the Titleist and have never had a driver that gave me so much confidence. But the scratch, I can’t live with. A replacement (TSi 3) goes for about ¥30,000 so at half the price, I thought I’d give the Honma a try. I generally never allow anyone to hit any of my woods or hybrids and if they insist, I tell them, “scratch it, you buy it.”
Just bought 747 460 brand new $A 300 , used at driving range and hits and feels great , nice control , not super long but good enough . Found it easy to draw and generally decent control .
I worked for Honma for a year in 2018 , they sadly decided to go after the mass market rather than stay at the super premium end of the market as they had been at for 50 years previously, the move to go after mass market was a disaster and it’s ruined the brand
James Vaughn their goal was to sell to americans and europeans at a comparable price, while dropping the price point for JDM clubs. They accomplished neither. Too expensive for the west, too cheap for the east.
Always enjoy the videos , just got the deal of my summer which was full of reselling or trading in second hand golf clubs. Last week I picked a taylormade spider tour limited edition(red) putter with cover for $45 at a garage sale. On the hunt today just out of town to pick up a taylormade RBZ Driver S (flex) for $20 Off facebook marketplace
Thanks for the advice, Went straight on Ebay and picked up a Honma Bezeal for 90 quid. Suits me much better than my Ping 410 which i received a lot more for from a leading used clubs retailer.
PXG Drivers Gen 2 have dropped from over $570 to $275. I came across a few Honma drivers at local shops that were trade ins. Not bad but I picked up a Taylormade M4 for $150 in great condition.
I love Honma golf clubs. I keep a set of LB280 irons at my grandfather’s house because Asian golf clubs draw less attention (good and bad) at driving ranges and golf courses there. It is just for the occasion I do not feel like explaining where I live and why I have loud American golf clubs (as novel as Callaway is there). The honma TW series is their budget model, scaled for international pricing. Expensive honma clubs go really nuts. I have seen Asian businessman and military generals with Honma Beres four stars. These are guys who have Maruman Majesty clubs as well. Edit: I picked up the 3 hybrid and 5 wood in June for 75$ each.
One just sold in the States on eBay brand new still in the wrapping $113.50. Also selling on eBay brand new in the wrapping at buy it now prices between $169 and $189. BRAND NEW!!!!!!!
I had this driver for about a year and barely hit it, couldn’t launch it properly and it wasn’t going anywhere. Also felt way too light. Best thing about it is the head cover, super light and easy to put on and take off.
You are correct, on Ebay in the US I see a lot of them for 78 to 120 pounds. Cool but doubt if I change my Great Big Bertha Black Diamond but I never hit a Honma diver.
I tested this when it came out with another TH-camr. It looks crap doesn't sound great, but went miles, and I mean average carry for me on GC2 was over, 300 yds. (my driver was 280 yds). BUT everyone else who tested it, slated it! Nobody got on with it. The reviews were that bad it didn't even get posted!
These still go for $500 used here in Canada. About a month ago I picked up a Mizuno ST190 in basically brand new condition with head cover but no tool for $200 CAD. Now that was a steal!
I'm looking to upgrade from my old TaylorMade Burner Superfast 2.0 for a newer (not new) driver. I hit my driver just fine, but people give me a look on the teebox when I pull out a driver from 2011 with some sky marks on the white crown from my horrible first year of playing. I've never hit a Homna of any kind. But I do love a good deal...
Played the 737 455 for a year and loved it. Would love to hear what you think of the Radius putter. I have one in my bag and it's as good as anything I've tried.
Went straight onto Ebay to look for a left handed one of these. Not a one in the UK. Plenty in the USA and Canada for quite a lot more than you suggest together with the usual rip-off postage charge. Oh well....
I just picked up a new Mizuno ST190 for a similar price (approx. £160) but they originally retailed at the opposite end of the specturm from Honma in 2019. I've seen some some good deals on F9 Speedbacks as well.
Guess I should have waited until the very end of the vid before mentioning the ST190 and F9. Sportchek was selling off new old stock F9s at the equivalent of £199.
Looks like your video has had the same impact as when Pete Finch did the Callaway Fusion driver a couple of months ago. I looked last night and there were no used TW747 on eBay apart from professional sellers after £250+. I hope you're on commission!
Just picked up a cobra F9 for $450 au which i think is a bargain after using it for a few rounds. Finally updated from the R11 and this thing is a monster.
Older products such as 737 with more premium shafts as standard shafts sell for more than the later products , that’s because the older Honma products are far better than anything they produce now
Simón, I need to pay for your content before it comes out to the general public so I can get these deals! Hahaha. I'm kidding. I have my eyes on a few even though I already have the drivers I want. Having different equipment is great because it makes me appreciate my gamers. I practice with blades, hard to hit drivers, and so when I play with my forgiving stuff I'm on point. That is all because of your advice. By the way I was ahead on those vokey wedges! I think "Arron Badadly" (I think I misspelled his name) uses a 60 degree 200 series wedge. So I don't think it is not illegal yet for pros.
I couldn't understand Honma's product/marketing strategy at all. They are quite famous in Asia, especially on LPGA and Asian Tours. Very easy to find Honma's clubs in LPGA/Asian tour players bag. In retail market, however, things are quite confusing. Take an example of Honma Beres line. It's so expensive and commonly used by high profile people to show their status in the society. It's not merely about technology, instead, the clubs were gold plated and equipped with other frivolous things not related to performance. Then they brought up new management and hired Justin Rose. They attempted to enter the mass market, particularly in the Europe and US. But all of sudden, the director left and Justin Rose went back to Taylormade. Overpriced? Maybe. Undervalued? Quite possibly. Nevertheless, I quite enjoyed hitting 747v and Rose Proto iron sets though.
I haven’t hit the fairway to be honest mate. If it doesn’t have adjustable weighting then I would say it’s forgiving in its design. If you can get one under £100 then you can’t go wrong.
They aren’t. There is a huge seller on eBay that everyone follows, and every day when an auction goes by, everybody bids up the next auction to end. If you buy brand new, they are honestly harder to fake. It should come with Honma branded headcover, plastic wrap, wrench tool. Hard to fake all that stuff. If you really want to go nuts, confirm the serial number with Honma.
It's not that complicated. Bought mine for $150 new w/HC and wrench. Loosen the screw, move the dial to desired setting. Tighten screw. It's actually easier than regular systems because you don't have to pull the head off and realign the screw. Honma, It's literally loosen, turn dial, tighten.

Will L the swing weight as labeled on the club didn’t match the manufacturer specs, the grip smelled awful like cheap new rubber, and the honma hologram on the shaft was face up so it would reflect in your eyes which is never where a manufacturer would put it. But the biggest telltale signs were the swing weight discrepancy and the smell of the grip
Haha first of all there all sitting at £160, second of all sorry for trying to provide value to people that support my channel. Sorry I cost you £40. 😬
I don't think they were ever worth 599 then. Even now they look like a Slazenger (too me) with that straight metallic face, where all brand new drivers have a darker face, which look way better. I still wouldn't play with it even if it was 40 euros.
Justin Rose hit it very well. Don't blame the clubs for his decline. In just his second start since switching to Honma equipment in 2019, Justin Rose recorded a victory at the 2019 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California. The Englishman posted a final score of -21 to win by two strokes over Australian Adam Scott.

Currently you can buy the 747 range dirt cheap for new. Like 195$ for the driver, set of irons around $700-$800 hybrids $119
I love the honma 747 clubs . got the driver for around 140 dollars brand new. Then got the 3 & 5 woods. Love the feel off the face.
I just bought, cleaned and restore a set of 1967/1969 Top-Flite Professional blades ( Bird on Bird ) . I got them looking mint !
I’m waiting on the prices of 2i/driving irons to go down, prices seem to keep going up for these clubs lately.

HOT DEAL! - I bought the 2019 Mizuno ST190 new for $190 dollars back in June. Stiff - 9 1/2 degree. I got it fromRock Bottom Golf.
Almost bought one of these a couple weeks back for $105 USD without a shaft, but then realized that you can only use Honma Shafts :(
No. Aftermarket adapter is $13 and you can go from there. I bought mine new for $150

Great vid Simon and nice of that guy to point it out. I bet Mizuno ST180s & ST190s are going cheap too.
Yeah they go super cheap for the same reasons to be honest. Good drivers as well.
I bought one off Ebay for $235 brand new, one of the best drivers I've owned
I love the driver. It's solid and the ball just comes off the face quicker than some of the other drivers I've hit.
Saw these discounted in AG on the weekend. I assumed they had been a flop and didn’t give them another thought until now.
Used Nike vr pro combo and they are up there with any of the new stuff out there. Shame they stop making irons.
good vid as per usual, has the same happened to their irons?
The real issue with honma on eBay is 90 percent of them are fakes. That’s why they are cheap
Not mine, called Honma and they verified it. It works great. It hits like a champ. $150, new, headcover, wrench included.
And the TW747 drivers have just shot back up in price following this video!

Where are you finding them? All over £300 when I look 😂
American golf selling the 747 TW P irons 2nd hand for £595
I personally think Justin and the Honma exec had a culture clash.
Thanks for the tip!
Speaking of Japanese brand drivers. Have you been able to find a Miura driver?
Yah... the sense is that they must be substandard or Rose wouldn't have bailed midseason...
Is it any good?
The fairway wood looks a similar bargain. Is that a forgiving club too?

rodger till the fairway wood is nice 👍 i have the 5 wood in stiff... but if you prefer hybrids I am enjoying those even more.
