You're intelligent and confident, and they see you as a threat. The quickest way to make them dislike you is to mention your rights. I was never in my ex husband and his family are JW. Our daughter almost got snatched in but I am a praying. Christian mother and God delivered her from the bible (Watchtower) studies she was doing with her cousin. She is like you, she said things were not adding up for her. Even if I had one view I would still post my story because it’s not about the views, it’s about letting whomever needs to see something that I know is useful help them, if it’s for them. So if it was just one person lol 😆 then that’s the one whom needed it. But my approach is to be very fair and let people think for themselves whilst using the true authority (God’s Word) as their guide. @@JustWakeUp2704 barely waking up after the whole beard update last year which led to me researching after 31 years of full time service and I just turned 32. It's definitely a healing process that'll take time but love to hear the experiences from different brothers and sisters. As en ex MS I would have to agree that rarely the Bible is used for certain decisions rather they turn to older watchtower publications or letters from the branch for guidance. The reason witnesses are discourage to avoid school is because it teaches you to critically think. When you critically think you naturally start to question what is deemed as finite inside of a religion. People of higher learning are viewed as problem childs or difficult.
When you said the Bible is the authority not a magazine, it reminded of the many times I would hear "the watchtower says/said.." now we hear more of "the governing body has decided..." When you were speaking at the end of self-belief and broken spine, it reminded of Dr. Joe Dispensa.
@JustWakeUp2704 your thoughts on what our mental images are and how they affect our view was very interesting. The Bible shows us something very interesting early on regarding this. The pattern appears to be...a thought can become a belief, the belief then creates the feelings/emotions that motivate behaviour, as in Genesis 3:1-6. When our thoughts and beliefs change, so do our emotions/feelings and behaviours.

However, pray to God first and ask for The Holy Spirit to reveal the answer to you before you read the verses and I know that God will answer your questions. Hebrews 4:12 I am pointing you back to the source that has the answers versus me, and I fully trust in the Lord to answer your prayer.
They tell you not to go to school but then I learned my elders went to college and had degrees, and worked for the government! So they can have power and control over people! To be fair, they don’t say, don’t go to school, it’s the higher education and college, and living away from home if you attend a college in another state.
@ hi and yes, I agree with that depending on the era you grew up in and the individual congregation you belong to. But my personal experience was articulated accurately and there were higher education comments at the meetings all the time during the watchtower so college was definitely discouraged by the organization. They never tell you to go get a 4-year degree, they always say use that college time to pioneer. Get a trade, etc. You have to paid attention to what’s tacitly said as well, what’s implied indirectly often is more important than what’s said directly. Just type in college and higher education in the search library on their website and look at all the articles they have on college, etc and that’s the real proof right there. Things are definitely better now but speak to people from the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, early 2000s and read the literature on the matter during those eras and then think of the millions of lives impacted by it.

In essence, a publisher is one who works for a book publishing company. The watchtower Bible and tract society is a book publishing company, and was so from its inception. Of course they’re a real estate mogul as well now days. Former witness here. I am no longer a publisher, but now a preacher of righteousness.

@@Researchthetruth7 and that’s why the watchtower business has their own Bible,which they have added to, and taken away from, manipulating the scriptures to give credence to their peculiar doctrines and teachings. Via the watchtower study lessons, they keep the witnesses corralled in a pen. Those lessons are like boxed lunches. The witnesses are given the paragraphs to read, and must answer the questions from the paragraphs. No critical thinking skills required or necessary there. Along with misinterpreted or “re-interpreted scriptures the witnesses are kept under the watchtower spell. Ants in an ant farm, do know they’re in an ant farm. They just go on digging holes.
This was great! I had 98% of the same conundrums that you had with many of the same conversations.. unfortunately I wasn't smart enough to turn down being an elder but after 6 difficult years and 1 traumatic judicial case I was done and had to step down voweing never again unless they changed some things. And everything u said about truth even now I use those same talking points when witnessing to witnesses

Being a witness requires you to put undying faith in the organization, and that itself is a sin. We are created in his image, according to his likeness, so it would be blasphemous to put more faith in what man has created rather than what God himself has created. I feel that there is a lot of truth to engaging in and not engaging in certain holiday customs that may or may not be offensive to God-and that’s for ones’ whom believe in God. My goal is to turn people to God to trust the spirit of God and his Word to reveal deeper things to them. As of now, I don’t feel like I am being guided to discuss certain doctrines but if I feel an urge to do it one day, then I’ll share my thoughts on it. As of now, some things I still have to do objective and extensive research on before I voice a view on a matter, just to ensure proper accuracy. 🙏🏾😊
@ I understand. I actually asked because I find myself in the same mind frame. I was raised as a Jehovahs Witness myself along with my older brother and my father and step mother. I was disfellowshipped (can’t remember when) without even knowing as I had been kicked out of my house along with my older brother and never went back. Since then I experimented with many things including holidays. I recently felt a strong calling from Jehovah to start reading my Bible and talking to him everyday. Not just when things were bad. That eventually led me and my wife and two children to begin attending a church we found through one of her friends. I fell in love with God (really for the first time in my life) and am now volunteering to for the church’s prayer team and mission and outreach team! My wife herself has her testimonies as well! With all of this unfolding, we’ve been talking with each other and a few pastors regarding holidays. Still unsure on it, but I’m reading my Bible and going to God in prayer about my questions. I’m patiently waiting for him to answer.

@I0vebyrd Hi and thank you for sharing a snippet of your experiences. I enjoyed a lot of aspects of being a JW but once I realized how grossly John 4:24 was being violating then I had to bounce. And regarding my beliefs man I wholeheartedly believe in the Bible, Jehovah God, Jesus Christ, and the power of The Holy Spirit. So I am still a Christian for sure.

I said that does not make sense "WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT IN THE BIBLE"? Look up in the NWT Silver Bible and see that John 8:1-11 has been removed, but if you refer to the NWT Black Bible those scripture verses are there, also look in the KJV Bible and see that John 8:1-11 those scripture verses are there. This scriptural removal is violating scriptural principles?
Hi and yes I agree with you. Regarding John 8:1-11 to be fair several scholars agree that they can’t prove that it was in the original manuscripts. So I don’t have an issue with WT removing John 8:1-11 because the evidence supports them for doing it. However, there is good reason to leave it in the Bible and just highlight the backstory like they did in the black Bible and how 99% of all other Bibles do. Because scholars also agree that you can’t fully disprove that it shouldn’t be in the Bible since John 8:1-11 makes sense in context with the rest of the scriptures. @PositivePathways2019
I was raised JW and part of the 1975 generation. When my Mother got in in 1956 it was already a failed religion. JW had a sense of urgency NOW, it's don't worry when the end will come. If you had said it will be 50 years and still NO Armeggdon U would have been Disfellowshipped.

The org deliberately keeps the brothers extremely occupied with endless books and publications. Founder Charles Taze Russell said people would not understand the Bible without his books and publications. Most elders have not read the Bible for themselves.
I was disfellowshipped as a teen for engaging in fornication which the bible condemns i LOVED WOMEN. in my early twenties went through a divorce which was devastating. Because of not being in the JWS organization i practiced some relaxing exercise turned out it was SPIRITISM ( TRANSCENDENTAL MEDITATION) i had no idea it was SPIRITISM. Was reinstated in my late twenties. Well you know the demons were MAD ( i rather not say what i went through) Jehovah god helped me. I am in my forties been married for 22 years to the love of my life. YOUNG PEOPLE NEVER LEAVE JEHOVAH YOU WILL REGRET IT LIKE ME ❤

When you look up at the blue sky, you see blue because WATER absorbs colors in the red part of the light spectrum, leaving behind the colors in the blue spectrum that we see, just like the oceans aka waters below. Our Heavenly Father sits above the *circle* (Isaiah 40:22- a circle is not a sphere) of the Earth, above the waters (Psalm 148:4), above that crystal clear Firmament (Psalm) 19:1,. He is the Most High and there is nothing above His head, no never ending, ever expanding vacuum of “space.” That’s the biggest deception and indoctrination. We’ve been and still are systematically lied to. Trust biblical cosmology, and not the man contrived heliocentric, sun-centered, sun- worshipping cosmology.

This is why Christians do not run in regards questions of their faith. The watchtower shunning practice is because they cannot do this. "Are you trying to teach us?" From a group of leaders who claim to value humility.
You're intelligent and confident, and they see you as a threat.
The quickest way to make them dislike you is to mention your rights. They scoff at the very concept of the flock having any rights at all.

I was never in my ex husband and his family are JW. Our daughter almost got snatched in but I am a praying. Christian mother and God delivered her from the bible (Watchtower) studies she was doing with her cousin. She is like you, she said things were not adding up for her. Even if I had one view I would still post my story because it’s not about the views, it’s about letting whomever needs to see something that I know is useful help them, if it’s for them. So if it was just one person lol 😆 then that’s the one whom needed it. But my approach is to be very fair and let people think for themselves whilst using the true authority (God’s Word) as their guide. The reason witnesses are discourage to avoid school is because it teaches you to critically think. When you critically think you naturally start to question what is deemed as finite inside of a religion. People of higher learning are viewed as problem childs or difficult.

The Bible shows us something very interesting early on regarding this.
The pattern appears to be...a thought can become a belief, the belief then creates the feelings/emotions that motivate behaviour, as in Genesis 3:1-6. When our thoughts and beliefs change, so do our emotions/feelings and behaviours.

However, pray to God first and ask for The Holy Spirit to reveal the answer to you before you read the verses and I know that God will answer your questions. Hebrews 4:12
I am pointing you back to the source that has the answers versus me, and I fully trust in the Lord to answer your prayer.
They tell you not to go to school but then I learned my elders went to college and had degrees, and worked for the government! So they can have power and control over people! To be fair, they don’t say, don’t go to school, it’s the higher education and college, and living away from home if you attend a college in another state.
@ hi and yes, I agree with that depending on the era you grew up in and the individual congregation you belong to. But my personal experience was articulated accurately and there were higher education comments at the meetings all the time during the watchtower so college was definitely discouraged by the organization. They never tell you to go get a 4-year degree, they always say use that college time to pioneer. Get a trade, etc. You have to paid attention to what’s tacitly said as well, what’s implied indirectly often is more important than what’s said directly. Just type in college and higher education in the search library on their website and look at all the articles they have on college, etc and that’s the real proof right there. Things are definitely better now but speak to people from the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, early 2000s and read the literature on the matter during those eras and then think of the millions of lives impacted by it.

Publisher: A person (or company) engaged in publishing; that prepares and issues books, magazines, etc., distributing printed (or digital) content to the public. In essence, a publisher is one who works for a book publishing company. The watchtower Bible and tract society is a book publishing company, and was so from its inception. Of course they’re a real estate mogul as well now days. Former witness here. I am no longer a publisher, but now a preacher of righteousness.

Via the watchtower study lessons, they keep the witnesses corralled in a pen. Those lessons are like boxed lunches. The witnesses are given the paragraphs to read, and must answer the questions from the paragraphs. No critical thinking skills required or necessary there. Along with misinterpreted or “re-interpreted scriptures the witnesses are kept under the watchtower spell. Ants in an ant farm, do know they’re in an ant farm. They just go on digging holes.

I had 98% of the same conundrums that you had with many of the same conversations.. unfortunately I wasn't smart enough to turn down being an elder but after 6 difficult years and 1 traumatic judicial case I was done and had to step down voweing never again unless they changed some things. Being a witness requires you to put undying faith in the organization, and that itself is a sin. We are created in his image, according to his likeness, so it would be blasphemous to put more faith in what man has created rather than what God himself has created. I feel that there is a lot of truth to engaging in and not engaging in certain holiday customs that may or may not be offensive to God-and that’s for ones’ whom believe in God. My goal is to turn people to God to trust the spirit of God and his Word to reveal deeper things to them. As of now, I don’t feel like I am being guided to discuss certain doctrines but if I feel an urge to do it one day, then I’ll share my thoughts on it. I was raised as a Jehovahs Witness myself along with my older brother and my father and step mother.
I was disfellowshipped (can’t remember when) without even knowing as I had been kicked out of my house along with my older brother and never went back.
Since then I experimented with many things including holidays. I recently felt a strong calling from Jehovah to start reading my Bible and talking to him everyday. Not just when things were bad. That eventually led me and my wife and two children to begin attending a church we found through one of her friends. I fell in love with God (really for the first time in my life) and am now volunteering to for the church’s prayer team and mission and outreach team! My wife herself has her testimonies as well! With all of this unfolding, we’ve been talking with each other and a few pastors regarding holidays.
Still unsure on it, but I’m reading my Bible and going to God in prayer about my questions. I’m patiently waiting for him to answer.

I said that does not make sense "WHERE DOES IT SAY THAT IN THE BIBLE"? Look up in the NWT Silver Bible and see that John 8:1-11 has been removed, but if you refer to the NWT Black Bible those scripture verses are there, also look in the KJV Bible and see that John 8:1-11 those scripture verses are there. This scriptural removal is violating scriptural principles?
Hi and yes I agree with you. Regarding John 8:1-11 to be fair several scholars agree that they can’t prove that it was in the original manuscripts. So I don’t have an issue with WT removing John 8:1-11 because the evidence supports them for doing it. However, there is good reason to leave it in the Bible and just highlight the backstory like they did in the black Bible and how 99% of all other Bibles do. Because scholars also agree that you can’t fully disprove that it shouldn’t be in the Bible since John 8:1-11 makes sense in context with the rest of the scriptures. @PositivePathways2019

I totally agree that you can’t make hard and objective statements publicly that are analytical without being criticized by others and then labeled as bad association, a doubter, spiritual weak, or an apostate. God gave us a brain for a reason for us to notice when things don’t add up, and when things are violating His Word. Well actually, if I gave a regular talk on marriage, morals, etc then I was helping people, looking back in retrospection. However, The talks that I gave that bother me now are things that dealt with false interpretations from WT, that are easily proven with WT’s own literature, etc. I feel used, like I helped to keep genuine people indoctrinated and that bothers me at times. 🥹

I was disfellowshipped as a teen for engaging in fornication which the bible condemns i LOVED WOMEN. in my early twenties went through a divorce which was devastating. Because of not being in the JWS organization i practiced some relaxing exercise turned out it was SPIRITISM ( TRANSCENDENTAL MEDITATION) i had no idea it was SPIRITISM. Was reinstated in my late twenties. Well you know the demons were MAD ( i rather not say what i went through) Jehovah god helped me. I am in my forties been married for 22 years to the love of my life. YOUNG PEOPLE NEVER LEAVE JEHOVAH YOU WILL REGRET IT LIKE ME ❤
