The car was parked in our underground parking lot. I remember the rear view of the car with that massive rear wing taking the whole width of the parking space. I sat on my brothers lap for that ride, with the engine roaring right behind our seat. We took a bridge called viaduc gambetta which was linking courbevoie to la defense at the time.. everybody was pulling to the right to let that beast pass them and have a look a it. This memory is engraved in my mind to this day. Thank you dad. I love you.

1980s 1.9 liter 600 hp is different from modern 1.9 liter 600 hp. Lighter and stronger components better lubrication. However, I bet that 1980s engine must be a hand full and a half and pretty fun to drive.

"pure efficency" dude read that word again... Group B and petrol engines are not "efficient" They lost near 40% of its power by thermal loses... Electric engine is the most efficient, it only lost 1% by wheel friction.

Rally version engine of Peugeot 205 t16 evo 2 was actually producing around 450-480 bhp in 1986, but if I remember it right, the power was reduced to 400 bhp for Rally of Sweden 1986 and the weight increased to about a ton.
I had the chance to get into this same 205 Turbo 16 from Vatanen in 1987 (or 88) with a person who worked at Peugeot Talbot Sport and who was also in charge of testing the new Peugeot cars before their releases. He had an exemption to take the road with this monster, he came to a campsite near Pontoise (France) where he had his caravan and I had mine. He told me it belonged (at the time) to Jean Tod. He tuned the 205 T16 between 500hp and 600hp, we went to test it on the small country roads at around 180Km/h in certain places! A monster of power! An unforgettable memory. J'ai eu la chance de monter dans cette même 205 Turbo 16 de Vatanen en 1987 (ou 88) avec une personne qui travaillait chez Peugeot Talbot Sport et qui avait aussi en charge d'essayer les nouvelles autos Peugeot avant leurs sorties. As a kid whenever I’d watch Group B with my Dad I would sing “Snap Crackle Pop, Rice Krispies!” every time we’d hear the Peugeot on overrun, it literally sounded like pouring milk on Rice Krispies!
I've got to say that the engine is the worst looking of the whole group B, but probably the most efficient. At the end, it won several championships xd
Center of mass was shifted to the right side by few %, because of that 205 was tricky and unstable into air jumps. In terms of balance it was worse than Delta S4, but S4 was sharp at landing after jumps, because of some little details of awsome suspesion
Glad to see Group B cars driven the way they are meant to and not ending up as garage queens.However,as appealing as they are,they are rally legends,but when it comes to hillclimb,there are cars that will never be outshined by Group B,despite i like both equally.When you think better,modern day hillclimb monsters are like Group b back in the day,only with more power and grip.

Quattro was good, but didn't beat T16 really , you can't mess with a front-engined rallyecar against a mid-engined counterpart cause the center of gravity ... ! even in engine-note ,, the compareable acceleration from five-cylinder is weaker than four-cylinder cause revelations are rising quicker , you've shorter camshafts and crankshaft , lower masses to move and less inner friction than a five-cylinder .. !! even horsepower was nearly equal, T16 had same as Audi at least over 500 HP ! anyway , Quattro was good, specially when driven by RÖHRL !! grets from germany
Slow in tight corners, no central diff slow shifting gearbox huge turbolag, something normal in gr. B but brutaaaaaaaaal powerful and sounding waaaaaaaay better than modern wrc albeit much slower overall. Only the S1 sounds better.

Does anybody know, how many Pikes Peak versions were approximately made? Comments under videos say that Matti Alamäki also raced Pikes Peak version in European Rallycross events (at least in 1990). Is this the same car or not? I wonder...
This is not the same car as Alamaki raced, that would be chassis C209 if we are not mistaken 👍 But regarding the number of Pikes Peak versions built, it is super hard to reply as those cars were converted Evo 2´s which after racing on Pikes Peak were then converted into Rallycross cars in some cases, others dismantled and others reconverted into works-spec Evo 2´s.
