Many think he couldn't have won on dirt.he's 9 times WRC world champion (and not rally cross which is completely different) and many stages take place on snow, dust, mud etc... he's not only good on asphalt. he's complete. look at some videos of Loeb in monte carlo or Wales. you'll see what he can do on these surfaces

Loeb was without a doubt the best rally driver of his generation. But to really compare with Vatanen, Rohrl, Ragnotti or others, it would have been necessary to be able to compare them on similar cars. Modern cars with robotic gearbox drive quite differently from group 4 or group B of the 80s. A Lancia Stratos with its mechanical gearbox, for example, without any assistance on the brakes, steering or suspension and only 2 wheel drive, a completely different driving technique. You won't find a cooler and more measured driver in motorsport. It was a pleasure to watch this guys amazing WRC career and how he set a new standard, crushing the opposition. It took another Seb from France to actually take the challenge to him and he was another amazing talent. Those two Sebs just made it look so easy and often without breaking a sweat unless it was a boiling hot country they were competing in! But for me Seb Loeb is the original, and the best.
Sebastien Loeb is unlimited! The only limit is the car. When he was around, it was my favourite time in WRC. Big applause this was a masterpiece of driving!!

Lovely video. You get shots from everything here. People along the road, helicopter, embedded cams... It is perfect to bring about impression. As far as I go, I once traveled Colorado and surrounded states as a random tourist, but never saw or heard of this road over there. I was busier at rowing local rivers for my vacations, which felt way quieter and easier than rafting or kayaking the Alps, but absolutely beautiful in their unique canyons and local nature, unforgettable. Loeb was trained in our country. He is used to funky little roads in the Alps and moutain ranges up to his home region in France. That's probably why he's been that skilled. It must be like natural to him. As for the car, this is definitely a good one, but unfortunately, the French auto manufacturers release pretty good products for professionals EXCLUSIVELY. Their stuff meant for the general public has been average, just ain't so good. I hope they gradually grow better from now. Check out the latest Alpine manufactured by a subsidiary of Renault if you will. Design is inspired by rallying and would be much fun, I hear here in Europe.
I sometimes wonder whether Pike's Peak isn't more famous outside the US. I'm English and to me it's an iconic bit of road like Le Mans, Monaco and the TT circuit. I've visited the US several times but never Colorado. I would absolutely love to rag a car up this road.

I'm french and peugeot is not "excellent". They made cars for mister every body. The mechanics who prepared the Loeb's car are excellent, and Sebastien Loeb is a great driver. (but not the firm as the you said) ;)

I live in the UK and my daily driver is a 2013 208 GTi -the same base car as Sebastian’s. Stock, my car is 6.3 seconds 0-60 mph, top speed 146mph, and over the last 6,000 miles I have averaged 42mpg. All from a 1.6 litre turbocharged engine. Super handling too and accelerates seamlessly in any gear and it blends in as a “shopping car”!

il y a plus de risque sur une piste goudronnée que sur une piste de terre ! il suffit d'une partie humide sur le goudron pour que la voiture dérape !

Not the most difficult track but at some point, if you make a mistake you will fly off the track and have an extremely good chance to meet your maker.
I live in the UK and my daily driver is a 2013 208 GTi -the same base car as Sebastian’s. Stock, my car is 6.3 seconds 0-60 mph, top speed 146mph, and over the last 6,000 miles I have averaged 42mpg. All from a 1.6 litre turbocharged engine. Super handling too and accelerates seamlessly in any gear and it blends in as a “shopping car”!

Very underrated car manufacturer as well. The Peugeot 405 is the best to my knowledge. Very comfy, very economic. It's an appartment. Pure and simple.
