May be nitpicking but why does this guy call it the 37?? In literally every other documentary or mention of the car that I've seen, its been pronounced Ohh-3-7, I mean, that 0 is kinda important!
@@Ensisferrae I don't know how the Italians and Lancia say "Zero Three Seven", but it had always a misquoted name? It was launched as the "Rally", but history is now calling it, as you say, the 'O'-thirty-seven.
959 was in Dakar rally, not in Group B. 911 was in the Group B. I remember checking about Group B on Wikipedia and only 911 popped up as Porsche's competitor.
Supra Man i was suprised the 205T16 wasn't on, and on top off this list. It is the ultimate Group B car, specially designed for this class, and very loosely designed on the 205gti
Hi! T16 evo had 430 hp and 0-60 2,8s. 037 evo had 2.1l supercharged and '85 gravel spec had 325 hp, tarmac had 350 hp, 200 hp road version had 0-60 5.8s. Ok, Stratos was group 4, road version had 190 hp, but rally had 280 hp. 6R4 is correct, but there were plenty normally aspirated group b cars, 6r4 was the only one with 4x4 drive. RS200 had 1.8l turbocharged and 2.1 in evo version with max cca 550 hp. And you missed the Renault 5 Maxi Turbo, totaly crazy group b car. And yes, Opel Manta 400, normaly aspirated rwd, very popular among drivers with lower budget. Nice video anyway, had fun watching it.
The 959 content is not to great from the looks of the videos but that's because there is not much video content available, seems like it's more a 911 :P. But you should have mentioned that it could never compete, unless it was practically designed for group b. It was later used for the Rallye Dakar and just was theoretically an adjusted group b car :)
You got that quite wrong. And the actual story is much simpler: the 959 was designed (among other goals) to compete in the Group B rally championship. By 1986, Porsche had not yet produced the 200 959 cars required to be enrolled in FIA's WRC Group B class, so the 959 would only enter the competition in 1987. But Group B was cancelled in 1986 midway through that season. That's the only reason why the 959 never run (at least as official Porsche team car) in FIA's WRC. Porsche did however enroll three 959 in the 1986 Paris-Dakar rally (a rally NOT sanctioned by FIA), where the they finished in 1st, 2nd and 6th positions. The Dakar rally has no production requirements (you can runa a one of a kind car if you want to), and that's why Porsche was able to run three cars in the 1986 Dakar. As for the footage, although three actual 959 were raced in the 1986 Dakar, Porsche ran modified versions of the 911 in the 1984 and 1985 Dakar races. These 911 were meant to test several of the different car systems intended to be implemented in the 959 (which indeed they were). So, if some of the 1984/85 "959" look like 911, it's because they sort of still were 911... But, again, the 1986 Dakar 959 are proper 959.
I personally love the Rs200. It looks really cool and it is quite quick. Just imagine, with a bit of tuning, what could these monsters do on tarmac circuits today.
Don't take it to seriously, it is very inaccurate at the least, mostly full with errors. Pls re-do this for the sake of the group b legend, or delete it
I believe the Lancia S4 was 2.5s 0-60 on gravel, plus 560bhp as standard (Markku Alen said in the last Group B race they had 620bhp in a 890Kg car, plus the brakes weren't that good). Also some of the other figures are for the homoglation cars not the rally cars (e.g. the T16). Back when I used to go to the U.K. Rallys (loved Group B) they had a stage on a race-track. Markku Alen in his S4 did it in a time that would have put him on the 2nd row of the grid for that year's F1 race (on the same circuit)... Oh and yes, the Stratos was Group 4, but nice footage - loved that car, even looked at getting one once... The problem with the RS200 was Group B was killed before they got the full-spec engine, and they only ran with early lower-performance engines before then. BTW when Michelle Mouton went to do in Pike's Peak in her Sport Quattro, Audi apparently offered her a choice of the standard 550-ish bhp or turning it up to 720-730 (I forget which), she went with the former and won. (I drove up there once when it was still dirt, with no barriers, quite exciting... not in a good way...) Oh and watch this with the subtitles on... th-cam.com/video/ucUpYZOlvuw/w-d-xo.html
That Bozzy footage of the 205 T16 had a noob driver not worthy of the car. Didn't know how to race it and makes it look awful compared to the actual rally footage.
If you are so stupid as not to understand the irony, at least try to bring respect to other users... it is so obvious that it was the skill of the pilot and team Lancia to get the better with the 037 2WD against the 4WD Audi S1. We don't need your explanations to figure it out. Kartoffeln!
The quattro is worthless, the only thing that made it a winner was the fact that it was the only one with 4wd in the beginning. Once the competition got 4wd, it was completely outclassed. It even lost a championship to a 2wd car one season.
Hello Mr.3.0.3 sir. Long time listener, first time caller, if I may, I would like to know where your inspirations came from for your videos? I can definitely see touches of influences from Disney Pixar's Cars 2(the much more superior cars movie) and Dreamworks' Turbo(the unarguably best movie of all time). Thank you Sir
whats up fellow Colorado brotha! great video my dude. Audi S1 Quattro and the Lancia Delta S4 are def the most insane rally cars... period. Even more so the Delta S4.
. .so many inaccuracies makes you wince! . . RS 200 was a 1.8 litre 4 cylinder . . Evolution never rallied in Group B . .was a rally cross car . . that's a completely different sport . . .. . both Porsche 959 (that you love) Lancia 037 and Lancia Stratos were never in Group B . . overall 2/10
959 and Stratos never raced Group B, so you only have 6, 959 was developed for group B, but due to series cancellation, was relegated to racing Dakar as the footage shows, read a book or google before making inaccurate videos, big thumbs down
My pick is Audi quattro, because it just has that rally feeling and just seeing that beast flying in the air made me goosebums. Drivers of quattro must had big balls.
Audi also had a 1000hp version of the quattro but it never made it to the trak because the pilots said that it was too insane to drive. jalopnik.com/270058/crowning-the-king-of-1986-audi-quattro-s1-vs-ford-rs200-vs-lancia-delta-s4-vs-peugeot-205-ti6

you forgot toyota celica it was pretty insane too and only reason why the lancia did kill those rally drivers was that because the lancia's body was made of glass fiber/ carbon fiber

1. Audi Quattro S1
2. Lancia Delta S4
3. Peugeot 205 T16
4. Ford RS200
5. MG Metro 6r4
6. Lancia 037
7. Renault 5 Maxi Turbo
8. Opel Manta B 400
There wasn't any order
Oath
OK
1. Lancia Delta S4
2. Lancia 037 Rally
:)
3. Peugeot 205 Turbo 16
4. Audi Quattro S1
1. Lancia Delta S4 / Peugeot 205 T16 exequo
2. Audi Quattro (both S1 and S2)
3. Lancia Rally (037)
4. Renault 5 Turbo
5 MG Metro
6 Ford RS200 (Maybe this car deserved a better rating but can't give because he came too late to show its worth, or not.)
13:15 that noise lol
Lancia 037 and Delta always my favorite!
The 037 is the Mona Lisa of rally cars. Just perfect in every way ❤
Man I love that Fluttering Sound of the Audi 😍
As far as I know,Lancia Stratos was never part of Group B.It was a 70's car racing on Group A.
The Lancia S2 is the maddest, but the Audi S1 E2 is the baddest, you could paint them all black and put them in a showroom and they would still sell today......
The quattro thought me one thing: you can indeed smoke your tyres on gravel and pull power wheelies on jumps.
Mind Blown!
Sorry man but Lancia Stratos isn't a Group B. It's a Group 5 then a Group 4 :) Where do you find the outputs? I think there are something wrong with it. However it's a great video and i appreciate your effort. Greetings from Italy!
"Group B Cars"
Proceeds to talk about the Stratos (which is a Grp4 Car) 😂
The T16 had 4.3 bars of boost
43 bar is impossible it would blow up the engine
*psi... 1 bar=14,45 psi. But still, 62 psi is the correct one. Although many things are wrong in this video.
I grew up listening, and seeing all the best of gp b..and theres no better place to have seen them all in full song in our welsh forests..jeeze i feel old..
some of the clips about 959 are just 911
Cheers. Brought back some good memories of the 80's watching these in forests all over the UK (apart from the Porshe) We even helped turn a few back over onto their wheels.
Lancia 037 Rallye or Delta S4; the absolute nuts! Search for Delta S4 prototype testing with Alen...awesome!
May be nitpicking but why does this guy call it the 37?? In literally every other documentary or mention of the car that I've seen, its been pronounced Ohh-3-7, I mean, that 0 is kinda important!
@@Ensisferrae yes zero must be pronunced!
I remember checking about Group B on Wikipedia and only 911 popped up as Porsche's competitor.
the 205 t16 was the best tho
Supra Man i was suprised the 205T16 wasn't on, and on top off this list. It is the ultimate Group B car, specially designed for this class, and very loosely designed on the 205gti
The cars werent placed in a specific order on this list. That means this list doesent have a number 1, 2, 3 (you get it?)
JR i was only talking about the 205 which is missing in this video
Oh shit sorry, my mistake!
Supra Man still a good car for the city
Group B needs a comeback
Its too dangerous, it will never come back unless its much more safe
We have wrc plus now... The fastest rally cats ever produced
Why? Todays wrc are faster
Insane ci sarai tu! Era un prodigio di ingegneria e ha messo in fila, anzi in ginocchio, tedeschi e francesi che se la sentivano tanto calla...
The Group B rally cars were crazy...the Group B drivers were insane...
Dang the RS200 doesn't want to play. One screw up you're fucked. Especially steering that car is just crazy.
Cesar Cantu it's the mid-engine
It's shite ngl
The statos too was well known for being a beast to drive due to its short wheelbase compared to it's width.
(I drove up there once when it was still dirt, with no barriers, quite exciting... not in a good way...)
Oh and watch this with the subtitles on...
th-cam.com/video/ucUpYZOlvuw/w-d-xo.html
The Opel Manta 400?
Well the « federation internationale de l’automobile » was well pronounced for an English speaker. Good job 👏
Quite Firsty today.
Welp I'm early
The303Garage Great video !
The303Garage miss the Renault 5 Maxi Turbo
That Bozzy footage of the 205 T16 had a noob driver not worthy of the car. Didn't know how to race it and makes it look awful compared to the actual rally footage.
TrixX PC Gaming my guess is its a very expensive and historical car that they didn't want to push too crazy and possibly crash
The footage of Porsche 959 is actually mostly footage of its predecessor, 911SC/RS, but thanks for showing both.
Quattro = unstoppable
Justin Credible well the 037 did beat it
D C didn’t it only beat it once and it broke rules from what I know 😂
cloridan Beauchamps delta was a beast
Quattro = Stopped by Walter Röhrl 1983 driving the 2WD Lancia 037 Rally :). Don't try to change the History, "Kartoffeln" :>.
If you are so stupid as not to understand the irony, at least try to bring respect to other users... it is so obvious that it was the skill of the pilot and team Lancia to get the better with the 037 2WD against the 4WD Audi S1. We don't need your explanations to figure it out. Kartoffeln!
Peugeot 205 T16 was simply the best.
You forgot the father of the Mitsubishi EVO...
The Starion
Suffered the same fate as some other cars, it wasn't competing before the ban was announced and Mitsubishi naturally stopped development of it :(
looks like darth vader in black too
The quattro is worthless, the only thing that made it a winner was the fact that it was the only one with 4wd in the beginning. Once the competition got 4wd, it was completely outclassed. It even lost a championship to a 2wd car one season.
my opinion is...the wrc is for boy..group B for A man
Catur winarno wrc is still faster than group b and not as stupid
So if you hadnt had the luck to be born before 1970 you arent a man cause you hadnt have a chance to participate in group B ? Seems very intelligent.
I think Michele Mouton would disagree..
Paolo Giovanoli took the words out of my mouth.
She was absolutely sick. Röhrl nicknamed her "Wonder Woman", that kinda gives us a glimpse of her skills...
My friend. This list is complete. Insane... but....yeah... wow.
those cars have 0-60 mph any time they want and final speed was their choice, only you can choose gear box
did my man the 037 dirty, the last 2wd car to win a WRC
Hello Mr.3.0.3 sir. Long time listener, first time caller, if I may, I would like to know where your inspirations came from for your videos? I can definitely see touches of influences from Disney Pixar's Cars 2(the much more superior cars movie) and Dreamworks' Turbo(the unarguably best movie of all time). Thank you Sir
dsxl1026 Dr Demento huh...LOL
whats up fellow Colorado brotha! great video my dude. Audi S1 Quattro and the Lancia Delta S4 are def the most insane rally cars... period. Even more so the Delta S4.
. .so many inaccuracies makes you wince! . . RS 200 was a 1.8 litre 4 cylinder . . Evolution never rallied in Group B . .was a rally cross car . . that's a completely different sport . . .. . both Porsche 959 (that you love) Lancia 037 and Lancia Stratos were never in Group B . . overall 2/10
wideangle852 all correct except for the 037, that was a Group B car, just 2wd rather than 4wd and was used until they could get the S4 finished.
wideangle852 the 037 was in the first year or 2 of group B
The 037 was the only two wheel drive ever to beat the quattro winning the 1982 WRC Constructors Title. It definitely competed in Group B!
The evo was a 2.1
That Metro is one of the craziest cars to date, I think that would be a more than fair statemen
959 and Stratos never raced Group B, so you only have 6, 959 was developed for group B, but due to series cancellation, was relegated to racing Dakar as the footage shows, read a book or google before making inaccurate videos, big thumbs down
The Paradox yep...lol. I grew up on group b rally. A little research goes a long way.
Not even a mention that the Audi was a 5 cylinder.
IIUC, the 959 was not a brilliant rally car. Having the engine hanging out the back made it a bit of a handful on tight corners.
RS200 had a 2.8 engine??? do some research.
ZeronXL finaly 1 car guy here xD you understand nice xD
The 959 was never used for rallying but for marathons. The rally videos you show are of the 911 SC RS, which was also a Group B
LANCIA STRATOS Gruppo b???
🤔🤔🤔
@Movie Fan no, only the clips are stolen
I’d have a hard time picking between the 6R4 or Quattro. I mean just listen to that V6 in the Metro or that 5 Cylinder in the Audi. They are 2 of my all time favorite engine notes. Just beautiful...!
quattro is not spelt with a capital 'Q', believe it or not.
Lancia stratos isnt group B 😂😂😂
One of the best rally groups of all time if you see some of the videos The Spectators get really close what shouldn't be allowed
Super & turbocharge engine? you mean twincharged?
supercharger and turbocharger are not the same
Cplat __ i know, what i mean is that car using Super and Turbo? Twincharged mean a car combine using turbo and supercharge
ah, well, yeah, both, torque & hp
yes, supercharged till 4000 rpm and 4000-8000 s4 was turbocharged
Ratko Pocuca how many psi?
in 1982-1987 I worked at a Porsche Audi dealership in Vegas I was 21 drove my bosses 5 cylinder quattro every day plus got a lot of factory 959 stuff got to ride in a 959 very special time in history great video thanks
#SAVELANCIA
YuJo the rebadged Chryslers Lancia sells now are the best thing to happen to the company since they stopped manufacturing the Delta Integrale.
No not as a company but as a racing team there production cars killed them
you missed the Renault 5 Turbo
Don’t think that was group B
you forgot toyota celica it was pretty insane too and only reason why the lancia did kill those rally drivers was that because the lancia's body was made of glass fiber/ carbon fiber
st185/st205(or older one)? Asking because i own a Celica ST185 Carlos Sainz Limited Edition :).
jimppaaaa The Celica was a Group A rallye car
The X-Faction yes the st185 and so on but there was toyota celica gt-ts ta64 and it was group b rally car :)
Delta was made from kevlar
Would love to see a group B rally against a WRC car. 👍🏴🇬🇧🤠
Maybe the modern WRC will be faster but probably not far ahead of the Group B cars
the rs200 is my favorite
Delta S4 for being the most insane. Audi S1E2 for being the more musical. Peugeot 205 T16 for having won it all. Honourable mention to the Lancia 037 for winning a championship over 4WD opponents/
and the obvious WTF for the Strato's being here.
you forgot to mention Toyota celica turbo. that was the badest of them all.
Edward Gathogo and the very very forgotten BMW M1
Edward Gathogo and the Citroën BX, Mazda RX7 and Nissan.....
The Renault R5 Turbo. How could THAT not make list?!!
Mazda 323 4WD, Lancia Delta and Nissan Sunny GTI-R 4WD. Thanks for the video
The Stratos was in the 70's. You missed the Renault 5 Turbo, and there was also a Mazda car in group B as well.
And citroen bx
