I watched all of Jennifer’s videos and always so impressed by the breadth of her knowledge. I loved watching her trips to Italy too. She was an intelligent sweet lovely woman and you were lucky to be her friend. I miss her too. It’s tragic when lives are cut short. Always tell the people you care about that you love them.
I love back listed content and that of variety. Cats rule too.

Jill, your comments about the best of the year vids really resonates. I did feel like I saw a lot of similar books or books I wasn't surprised to see. I had a really hard time putting a best of 2023 video together myself because I didn't want to talk about the same things everybody else was talking about. I didn't realize it , but I too want to read more books that no one else is talking about. Sometimes I get swept up in the internet excitement, but I am frequently disappointed. I just filmed my Irish readathon TBR and its all backlist. Like, 10 years backlist!

The beginning of your video spoke perfectly to the loss of Jennifer Brooks./ I wish i could have had the words to say what you said.

Jill, I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Thank you for sharing your feelings with us. I'm excited for your new content. I totally agree that it gets a bit boring hearing about the same books all the time. I have been trying to read the backlist books on my physical TBR and they are often my favourite recent reads.

Well I just put Butter on my calendar. Also, definitely here for reading and talking about different types of books! I actually don't fully love the end of the year best books content because it does feel a bit repetitive after a certain number of them (obviously there is some variation). So I am looking forward to what you bring to the booktube table!

As someone who does not have the funds to buy a bunch of new releases every year, I gravitate to channels who talk about backlist books, or who have a good balance between older snd newer titles. Ill be sticking around for wherever your channel takes you!

Looking forward to see what you come up with this year. I love watching people that are not all reading and talking about the same books.

So sorry to hear about your friend Jill - sending good thoughts your way 🫂 I gave up on a lot of end of year content this year because it was just the same 5 books popping up everywhere! I watch your content for more unique recommendations and you haven't steered me wrong so far!

I LOVE that you are recommending books that not everyone else is talking about! It's precisely why i come to your channel and I've read countless gems based on your recommendation, so thank you!
Also, you honour your friend beautifully ❤

I don't want to always read the newest, most popular books, either! I get tired of seeing the same things over and over again.
Hoping that you continue to feel better and that February flies by!

Hi Jill, so so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend. Hoping you are taking care of yourself, grief is truly the worst thing.
Love your thoughts about just reading things for your genuine interest, I already find you do that more than a lot of other accounts I follow and I’m looking forward to seeing what books you have to recommend I haven’t heard of! ❤

I''m so sorry for the loss of your friend, Jill, and sorry I didn't get to know her channel while she was here. I love when I find channels who have something different about them than the usual popular hyped books, usually very heavy in fantasy/romantacy I've noticed, don't think that would be my thing. All of my books are back list lol. I don't know that I've bought a book in the past year and if I did I thrifted it. My TBR is large and I want to read it down before I buy books, and I usually don't like hyped books. I like off-the-radar books that no one is talking about and I look forward to any content you post! Take care and be well, friend.

@@TheBookBully Girl, I've got so many books to read and my Dinero is needed for other purposes. I didn't say I'm not keeping a list of books I really want to buy someday...😁

I hope you feel better soon. I am very excited to see what video essay you're doing. It's definitely something I love to watch and I wish I had the bandwidth to make it them (at least for now).

I cheated with my stats. I used chat gpt for a lot of those numbers. Like I uploaded my book spreadsheet and basically asked it to try various graphs and numbers.
I am curious to see if older titles will have higher ratings as I read more of them. My suspicion is that it will be about the same as n➡️♾️.

I absolutely share your feelings about book overlaps in favs. But it is hard as a creator bc there are pressures to stay relevant both for engagement and fomo.

    • @TheBookBully
      @TheBookBully  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

I really need to get onboard Chat GPT I guess 😂 still I loved the whole video and I will be seated for your stats next year to see how it stacks up!

Fomo is real. Sometimes new books sound so good and I feel like I need to read them immediately or I will perish, but then they are usually just ok. Heartbreaking

I didn’t know Jennifer beyond watching her videos and exchanging a handful of comments in her comments, but I was devastated by the news. My heart goes out to you and others who were her friends. She was so smart and seemed like a truly kind person.
I love that you’re thinking of moving beyond the hottest and newest books. I used to read a lot of new release Literary fiction; now I read almost none. My favorite channels are those focused on classics and older interesting books. I look forward to seeing where you take the channel. Also, I think you’d be great on the deep dive format. I have a couple of favorite channels in that genre and I think it would work well with your personality.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I hope things start to look up for you soon.
I like the sound of your plans for the channel so I'll be looking forward to seeing what you read and review. I've just started Missing Persons, Or My Grandmother's Secrets by Clair Wills and I'm sure you already know about it but if not you have to pick it up! She has a few historical non fiction books about Ireland and they all sound really interesting too.

Jill, I love that you don’t follow the main stream popular books. I’ve added so many new and interesting titles to my TBR from the books you talk about. I hope you feel better soon.
