Every day for a YEAR?! Holy cow, you're dedicated!! That's amazing! My anxiety would freak out at having to do something every day for a year. I'm getting into KU and enjoying it so far. I'm glad you'll have more flexibility now but this was so interesting. You do indeed have a soothing voice, very excited to try the new channel! Looking forward to the vlog!
Yee fucking haw! 🤣🤣🤣 same girl same! I’m on track to one year as well! 💪 I’m on my 144th day straight of reading on my Kindle! It’s honestly changed my reading habits completely being on KU.
Love what you said about DNF. It does make it a lot easier to DNF keeping in mind it doesn't have to be forever. But I have noticed on the times I do make it back to finish a DNF book- I was usually right in the first place to DNF. It has been rare I actually enjoyed reading a book a previously had decided to DNF. I love that you are quick to DNF now. I think it's an important skill to have in order to avoid reading slumps.
I've been keeping up my weekly streak this year, but kudos for reading every single day! I go through kicks where I want to read physical books, but my kindle has definitely changed my reading game!
I've used my various Kindles virtually every day since I bought my first Kindle Keyboard 13 years ago almost to the day. Best money I have ever spent. I am using an Oasis now, as it is the only one with side buttons. I like side buttons.
I have used mine every day for years, but I messed up when I went to Hawaii and put on airplane mode. Something happened and I lost one day, starting me all over. I'm back at 112 days and 312 weeks.
I had a 530 day streak that I was happy to be "freed from" when I lost it for the same reasons you mentioned. I have high volume reading days and days when I barely pick up a book (hello reading slumps!) and I'm also reading more on my device (which doesn't show me streaks) than my phone or tab (unless I'm reading a comic) so I feel like I'm in a better place now. Great video - thanks for sharing!
I have used mine for years and I read almost every day because I love it (not as a challenge). Like you I use kindle unlimited as well a lot but recently I have come to realize that I am missing something if I only read on my kindle. Have you had this experience too? I like the romances and some of the fantasies but somehow I haven't read a lot of "5 star -this is fantastic it will stay with me for years" through KU. These have mostly come from my bookshelves for some reason.
Yes and no. I think because I don’t exclusively use KU to read on my kindle. I get books via Libby too and have had 5 star experiences from both places. There are genres that I tend to only via audiobook though so if I stopped doing that I would definitely feel the same way.
Great video! KU and Prime Reading really helped me explore a lot of books, despite it having a limited collection in my country (mostly shitty self-help books written by charlatans) - could you tell me what app you used for tracking your reading streak? Cheers!
The kindle app on my phone is where I checked the streak. It syncs your reading in the app or on a kindle as long as the kindle is connected to the internet.
I did the same with my kindle. I didnt want to wait and be forced into buying a new thing bc amazon doesnt ship here and i dont personally want to support them anw so i found a new one in the box on a used tech website. I dont have the oasis, i have a kindle basic for 11 years now and what happened is a pixel kind of burst? Idk in the screen and i was like ok i am not going to wait until i am literally stranded bc i need it for my migraines bc of the consistent font. So i definitely understand where you are coming from.
I still don’t know how I made it 🤭 I have a couple books to finish on there before I can take a true break, but I’m looking forward to picking up a paperback soon!
Not a romance, but there's a bit of romance in it: I read Outlawed by Anna North earlier this year and LOVED IT! Didn't know I'd be this into a western themed book. Yeehaw!
i cared about the streak for the first 2 months then realized how toxic it lowkey is. I just maintain my daily habit of reading at least 1 hour a day instead
@@AdventuresInPages Yea, it really started to give me burn out cause it became a chore to read, not a fun habit! Not that I've allowed myself to read more physical books again, I am enjoying reading much more. Also accepting that not all DNF is the same. I usually DNF a book if I don't want to read it 1-2 in a row but pick it back up after a couple months when I'm more int he mood for it. I'd rather DNF a potentially good back in the first few paragraphs if I'm just not in the mood for it. I finish books so much quicker physically too, when I'm in the mood for the kind of read.
Hmm every 2-3 weeks maybe? I have this fear that I’m going to forget one day and need it for several hours and it’s only on 10% battery so I charge it as soon as it hits like 35%
@@AdventuresInPages That’s awesome. I heard that charging it before it hits 20% is better for the battery. Thanks for the video, makes me want to read more.
I haven’t sold my paperwhite. When I sold my oasis I mentioned it had been used for a while and the battery wasn’t like new. I didn’t sell a lemon. That means the device is usually unusable which was not true.
I use my kindle almost every day. It’s the best purchase I’ve ever made
I love that!

Yeah I’m honestly shocked I made it a whole year. KU has some great options and hidden gems. If you need any recs, let me know!
Honestly, the best time to try this is in February. Shortest month & reading for 10/30 minutes

It’s just so freeing!
You give me hope! I’m on day 12! I will get to 365 eventually!!
Biggest thing I learned is to just have fun with it!
I've been keeping up my weekly streak this year, but kudos for reading every single day! I go through kicks where I want to read physical books, but my kindle has definitely changed my reading game!
Thanks! Yeah I think my goal going forward is to keep up with it weekly, but not be so stressed about doing it daily.
I've used my various Kindles virtually every day since I bought my first Kindle Keyboard 13 years ago almost to the day. Best money I have ever spent. I am using an Oasis now, as it is the only one with side buttons. I like side buttons.
201 days here, I am ready to quit except I like those little bookmarks we get from the kindle challenges.
Some days I would only read two pages just so it would count them.
@AdventuresInPages I hear ya. Even more cheaty when it's just one page of national geographic magazine!
I subscribed and liked this video NOT because she drinks or swears, but because she READS...
Oh bud, I drink, swear a fuck ton, AND I read. I contain ✨multitudes✨
Who fucking gives a fucking shat if she drinks and bollocksing swears? It's about a kindle
I would love to see your favorite KU books from this journey!
Oh that is so many books to go through 🫣 but I think that would be really fun!
I have used mine every day for years, but I messed up when I went to Hawaii and put on airplane mode. Something happened and I lost one day, starting me all over. I'm back at 112 days and 312 weeks.
WOAH 😳

Yes exactly! Just wanted to get ahead of it
lord a whole year- can not imagine go get ur kindle break fr 😂😂 that library looks rly cool

Thanks for the rec, I’ll check it out!
I have two Kindle's and two Onyxes. And I use all of them almost every day 😂 Well... I can say, I'm addicted to reading.
i cared about the streak for the first 2 months then realized how toxic it lowkey is. I just maintain my daily habit of reading at least 1 hour a day instead
I get that! It started to feel that way for me around 6-7 months and then stopped and became daily habit instead.

Incredible ❤🎉 dedicated 👏
How often did you have to recharge your kindle?

The battery not good and SOLD IT - a lemon
Wild. The battery has been the one thing that’s never been a problem for me. Sorry you got a bad one!
@ Not me.
You sold a lemon 🍋

Bed time story after work for me then. Great
I'm trying to get my 365 streak. It's day 278. I feel like I might get there, hopefully all goes well.
Good luck!
I live for a small town romance 😍
It’s quickly become one of my favorite subgenres!
I wondered which kindle you have and if you’d do a “one year later” review. How does it work 365days later? Congratulations on this achievement 🎉
Ooh that’s a nice idea
i’m on day 5 lol
I love a fresh start!
