Thanks for the demo. The only thing I would do differently to makes things easier, when you are replacing the transmission oil pan, put the gasket on, insert the 10mm bolts through the holes, they will get stuck in the gasket so that when you raise the transmission oil pan, all the bolts are lined up and in place.

A 22mm 6-point is the more exact fit, which you want since many of these are difficult to remove and require an impact wrench. One truck I spent about 10 minutes attacking it with an impact wrench to get it loose-glad I had the best fitting socket. Torque is 37 Ft/lbs for external filter housing.
Note that if you buy external filter from Ford dealership it may not come with a new o-ring. These can be purchased separately for a couple bucks.

    Torque for 10mm pan bolts is 11 Ft/lbs (15Nm).
    Torque for 13mm drain plug is 18 Ft/lbs (25Nm).

The 5R110W TorqShift transmission requires the SP fluid. For a while Ford said that the LV could be used and even mixed with SP and they were going to discontinue SP. Then they changed and said again that SP should be used and it has not been discontinued. Do your own research to decide.
(Great job to your son for learning mechanics so young!)

Wouldn't it be better to replace all the fluid first to flush out all the old fluid, drain that, then replace the filters and put in new fluid?

That internal filter on an '06 is nothing but a screen. Really no reason to change it. Which also means no reason to pull the pan. The external cartridge is the actual filter.

What did you use the 7/8mm for again?

Hello Roy B. It is for the bypass filter. It takes either 22mm or 7/8" socket to remove. I don't have a 22mm impact socket, but I do have a 7/8 which is about the same. Thanks for watching

When you drain it again, do you use the same trans oil? And why do you drain it 2x

I am using new oil. This is my method of flushing out the old fluid in the transmission. When you drain the oil from the pan, it only gets about 1/3 of the all the fluid out. I am trying to run fresh fluids through it until all the old fluid has been replaced. I ran 2 cases of through it. Thanks for watching. Please support the channel and subscribe!
