I always felt a little off. Was plateauing for a year. I quit keto in 2020. Gained weight back.
I'm now on a more moderate diet, avoiding processed foods. Avoiding processed carbs. No wheat, limited grain. Legumes, eggs, nuts, cheese. Lots of greens, salads.... Not a lot of carbs. Unflavored whey protein . Avocado and avocado oil. Limited butter.
Occasional treats, but limited. Also maybe dried figs or a little bit of fruit if I'm craving, but no sweets until evening, and limited.
      Also doing some intermittent fasting.
I'm losing weight, more slowly this time. Feels more sustainable.
So the diet is still kind of restrictive but it doesn't feel as hard core. I don't feel particularly deprived of anything at this point. I had some carrot cake a few days ago. But I don't want it now - could be weeks until I want something like that again.
The way I'm eating, I'm not having a lot of cravings. I do feel that I learned many things from keto - especially that I just can't eat bread. And that a lot of starchy things like potatoes have no place in my diet.

For anyone wondering...YES, it works. Weight loss started immediately, but the mood was the most telling item. My boss of 42 years likes me better. Unlike other 'diets,' I don't need to weigh out portions, keep endless records, spend hours in the grocery store reading labels. I just eat meat. All kinds of meat until full. Occasional salad minus the sugar sauce (Ranch was my favourite, now supplanted by oil/vinegar) or a few cooked veggies from the garden. I'm only hungry once a day (usually OMAD), but several times a week I can eat supper on Monday and not be hungry until Wednesday morning. Add the gym say 4x a week. At 67, the joints feel better especially first thing in the morning and at the gym. Food cost? Of course meat is more $$ than stuff in a can, but with reduced intake it balances out.
At least give it a 2-4 wk try. Don't have anything to lose...except the fat that's killing us all. Yes, did take some mental adjustment to get 'healthy grains/low fat is better' out of my head. Paradigm shift, for sure. Have so far snuck past my doctor who just says, "Whatever you're doing, keep it up." Lab work is great. Cravings for the occasional (or not so...) pie, cookies, ice cream, cake, coma-inducing pasta dinner? Not really. Can go shopping for food and simply walk past that stuff without pause. Just don't want it. A good rib-eye or a can of sardines? You betcha!
Background? Laboratory medicine/epidemiology/statistics. I should have known better...but didn't know better. Now I know.

I've been doing pure carnivore for about 6 weeks now and I've never felt better. I eat just meat and eggs. I mostly eat high fat ground beef and a few steaks but I also eat bacon and pork occasionally. I have eggs with every meal. I only drink water. The fat has started to drop off me and I actually think I am putting on some muscle mass as well. My mood has improved, I sleep much better and I have clarity of thought. I'm very rarely hungry and I don't feel any pangs for sugar or carbs. There is another very welcome side effect that I won't go into too much but lets just say I won't be needing any little blue pills any time soon!!

I suffered from depression for the past 30 some years. Dozen of meds that never worked, 6 weeks in mental hospital, and NOTHING has helped. Started keto the beginning of April. Down 27 lbs. 331/2 inches and NO MORE DEPRESSION!!!!!! Only time I even feel down is when it is really bleak outside. Living in Indiana, winters are really difficult due to less, and less sunshine!! Hoping keto will help make a bit of a difference during the not so bright winter!!!

    • @keralee
      @keralee 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I had same experience. Keto really helps my brain work happily! Carnivore even more so, for me.
Also live in frozen North--and light exposure is a big deal for me, am buying a light box for next winter and have hugely upped vit D supplementation. It also helps.
Two plus years keto, will say it definitely makes winter far more bearable! For one, I never get dry skin or chapped lips or dry eyes during cold weather anymore. Used to have bleeding lips, it was so bad. Bye bye chapstick!

The reason keto his worked for me is because I really liked greasy fast food. It was not a far jump to tweak it to a clean keto diet. Quit the diet coke for sparkling water almost 9 years ago and have managed to keep the 120 pounds off. I have had some falters when I had to go on antidepressants when my dad was dying of brain and lung cancer, but thanks to keto, the small weight gain came right back off. I will be on this lifestyle forever.

I’m diabetic with high blood pressure. I finally got tired of feeling horrible, so I went on a one meal a day KETO diet. My blood sugars went from upper 200’s, to low hundred levels in less than ONE week. Blood pressures have softened up by about 10/10, so haven’t improved as dramatically, but they are going down. I’m feeling better. Sticking with this plan!

Adjustments of fat to animal protein ratio is very vital. In my case a complete zero carb along with zero vegetable for many months didn't result much loss of body weight. When changing 3 parts of fat to 1 part animal protein. The body was able to start really repairing itself Listening to the body is a challenge itself. I also cut out any temptation offered by jealous family members. Mental toughness is a positive bonus of eating keto. One meal a day and no craving naturally clear mindset is achieved. The truth is I constantly pay attention to other sources of information .Thank you Dr.Berry!

I've just lost 100lbs since last year. 160 lbs since 6 years ago. I want to lose about 40-50 more. Just did a skin fold test and I'm now at 25% body fat... and caring 215 pounds of lean body mass. I've been doing a 40/30/30 diet with 5 workouts a week. I really came to a plateu a few months ago and started doing the intermentant fasting and watched more pounds drop a little quicker. Now, I'm really turning to more 'natural fats' like butter, lard and bacon grease. Exchanging out more meat/protein for carbs. I'm not totally committed to a keto or carnivore. But I'm working closer towards it.

When I eat out, I tell them I'm on keto and they suggest what I can eat. You might have to pay for extra meat, cheese, sour cream, avocado, etc., but I've been able to find something everywhere I've gone so far.
As for condiments, I avoid ketchup & stick to mayo, real butter, mustard, relish, vinegar, sauer kraut.
Check ingredients for corn syrup, starch, sugar, dextrose (any -oses); mannitol, maltitol (any alcoh-ols); fruit juices; vegetables, soy; seed oils; etc.

I weighed 105 kilos (220 pounds for those of you still not on the metric system - smh) in January of this year when I stopped eating all carbs/sugar and started eating high fat/protein foods - all of which came from fresh meat and cheese - no vegetable fats (see Nina Teicholz for more info regarding this lie). By March I had lost 19 kilos and my metabolism was through the roof. Since March I've lost an additional 3 kilos, which brings me back to my weight when I was 20 years younger. All this with minimal exercise at first.
I was also becoming insulin resistant, which has completely 100% reversed.
Now I can do a heavy workout for at least an hour and my recovery time is about a day, day and a half. The best thing about it is I can't stand eating anything sweet, and when I tried carbs again last month I got bloated for a day. Needless to say I don't eat carbs anymore, and don't want to.
One other thing that happened is the health of my teeth and gums improved immensely. My dentist was visibly shocked when I went in for a checkup in April. He asked me how I reversed my gum disease and the tooth decay. I told him and he just nodded his head.
Sugar and processed carbs in all forms are the causes of anyone being fat. Stop eating that shit and your life will turn around. It's about time this information is getting out to contradict the narrative the public has been fed (literally) since the 70s. Ancel Keys should be brought up on charges for gross negligence. I don't care if he's been dead for 15 years. That man was the devil. The data - the real data, and not the epidemiological data he cherry-picked - is out there now (and has been for years) and it completely debunks this low fat/high carb diet bullshit, but it has been suppressed by the powers that be and big corporations for decades.
Thank you for putting out this video. People's lives will be saved if they have the courage to put down the soda and the cheesecake and the spaghetti. If they stop making excuses and stop having a "cheat day" every third day in a row. smh

I’m eating almost all meat and very little veggies. I’ve lost 13 pounds since April 1. However it did not start coming off before May 2 once I started listening to your videos. First I was doing some Keto and then went to more Carnivore way of eating. Down to, two meals a day now. Hoping for OMAD. My husband is doing it with me the best he can right now.
