I was seriously suffering with Gout. To the point of being bed ridden and missing so much work. I’m 42 years old . Had my blood panel a couple months ago to see why I was so tired all the time.
My doctor told me I was stage 3 kidney disease and needed a biopsy. Told me I needed to start statins immediately. Also told me I had a thyroid problem.
I found your channel by a miracle chance that night of the bad news.
I canceled my follow up appointment and immediately started carnivore diet!!
Fast forward to now… went from 226lbs to 172lbs in a couple months….. just had my blood panel again at my doctor… lol everything I mean everything completely reversed!!!!! Kidneys at 88 was 38 ! My thyroid normal! Absolutely no more gout! As a map of fact I’m walking 4-8 miles per day and going to gym 5 days per week. My joints feel like I have some type of super power in them!!!
But here is the kicker…. My cholesterol was 288 and I’m setting in front of my doctor and excitedly telling him about this amazing journey…. And he said….. well you need to be on statins and eating meat will cause me to have a heart attack or stroke!! He advised against it. I told him my gout was gone…. He said you need to take allopuronal for rest of your life.
I was so mad at this point I could hardly see. I am finding a new doctor asap.
Threw my meds out. I feel the best I have ever felt in my life!
    Screw that idiot.
I have a two year goal to be competing in a bodybuilding competition at 44 years old… and I will succeed

79 year female. Went keto, no grains, no seed oils, fasting 1-3 days. Physical: low triglycerides, BP 102/62, great cholesterol numbers, lost 50 lbs w/o counting calories! Doc said I’m healthier than most of his 40 yr olds.
Most important for me: macular degeneration is reversing! Eye exam went from 4/300 ugh to 4/80. Doc amazed. Wants to know what changed! It all works together.

Obviously raw vegan was not making you feel good or healthy. I did a 15 day juice fast and I never felt better, I felt amazing and lost about 8 kilos in that short amount of time - I think the benefit was simply from getting into ketosis as that's obviously not a sustainable diet. That was 10 years ago. I got down to 63 kilos, but today I'm 81 kg. I do understand why though. I'm starting back on carnivore today, can't wait to get over the rocks and out into the calm blue sea.

I live in the Adirondack state park & my dog & I were out for our daily walk…about 2 miles in the forest. About 1 mile into the walk my dog was holding still and pointing, he’s a golden retriever that wouldn’t normally notice a deer if it jumped over his head. I was busy looking down to the ground to avoid water, fallen logs/limbs, slippery rocks in this particular area. So, Doolie (my dog) was pointing & holding VERY still. As I looked up I from the ground I saw a huge bear STANDING in the trail. I could see her eyes…that’s how close I was to her. I was armed with a camera…not too helpful! So, I kept eye contact and tried to ‘look bigger’. Of course she didn’t budge. As I was backing up SLOWLY as I didn’t want to startler her, like she was AFRAID of me~ I realized I was going to trip over the rocks, branches etc I was carefully traversing before I looked up. So, I slowly turned around to calmly walk away from her, as she wasn’t budging. As soon as I turned around the adrenaline kicked in and I ran as fast as I possibly could & never looked back. Either she had me or she was gonna let me leave!
When I saw my house I dared to look back and she wasn’t chasing me.Being safe the sympathetic & para sympathetic system was doing it’s job as when I saw I was safe I totally peed my pants!! Now THAT’S fight or flight!!!

She hollered at me as we ran “are you sure that’s a bear?” I yelled back, “yes of course! I’m from the Yukon !” We finally got back to safety by my car, where my brother and dad were fishing. Told them the story, as we huffed and puffed. Dad said, “Listen!” We thought the bear might be following us, but when we listened closely, in the distance we could hear it- “Moooooo!” Turns out we ran at top speed from a black angus range cow. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤣🤣 Sister in law never let me live it down.

As a trainer I would like to offer an IMPORTANT piece of advice. FIRST become physically able to sprint and have your doctor o.k. it then...If you want to start sprinting and are scared to fall or "wipe out" at full speed...no worries. If you are lucky to have a sandy beach that is great, if not run on at least a grass field or up a hill. This will minimize an injury if you should happen to fall. I work with my clients to learn how to fall and "roll out" to minimize injury. Start slow and work up to FULL speed. I found 30 sec. is about as long as anyone can run at ACTUAL full speed. Give or take a few seconds. As a former low tens 100m sprinter, I am aware how scary fast and tiring this can be. Warm up before and when you are really going for it, make sure you are feeling strong. Any kinks, (especially in ankles, knees, etc.) Go easy.

Feeling so good I tried to sprint on my treadmill for 1 minute @ 5.0 & did then walked 6 more minutes & sprinted again at 5.0. Big mistake for me, clearly don’t know what I was thinking, pretty sure I’ve ended up with Runner’s knee.🤦🏼‍♀️ It could possibly take up to 8 weeks to get back to normal hoping not any longer. Please don’t be like me train first & be sure and do running stretches before doing this my body’s way of reminding me I’m not 18 anymore!

There is a doctor online that teaches exercises to do for bad knees. One he says to do is sit on a chair or bench in which your feet don't reach the floor. Then all you do is swing your feet back and forth . Work up to what you can tolerate and try to do it multiple times a day. It's worth a try for you.

    My notes:
Dr. Sean O’Mara & Dr. Ken Berry
Things to do to support healthy weight loss:
    Meat based diet
    Fasting for ketosis
    Eat Fermented foods
    Get Sunshine
    High intensity, interval, workouts -(sprinting)
Sauna to increase nitric oxide (which is a molecule that we need to pay more attention to.)
Four biggest contributors to visceral fat:
    1. Eating carbs
    2. Drinking alcohol
    3. Not sleeping enough
    4. Being stressed out

Interesting the importance placed on sprinting. I have been a martial artist since the age of 10, surrounded by men in their 70s and 80s doing physical things unheard of for people their age. As a young ripped 18 year old being physically man handled and literally “beat up” by a senior citizen is one of the most profound lessons in life you could imagine. The martial arts, done correctly is a constant anaerobic sprinting sport and also great hand and eye coordination, muscle control and balance training. They have incredible benefits for a person aging. I saw it every day. Old karate masters don’t fall, they roll !! As your wonderful guest stated, these lessons were learned out of survival. This was a fabulous pod cast. Thank You. Walt in MN.

He was so sad that families were deceived into giving up butter which he said was so good for children. And he was a fan of meat fats and cheese. We always had fatty meat. Bacon and eggs for breakfast every day, which I continued and gave my son too.

For those who are just starting out, here’s some terminology: “seed oils” are what’s called “vegetable oil” in grocery stores. It might be corn, canola, Crisco shortening/margarine (which is partially hydrogenated oil and is much worse than any fat out there) etc. these oils were pushed as a healthy alternative for decades. Well, newsflash, they’re inflammatory. Also, the doc talks about healthy meat, which is grass fed/pastured. This GUEST hit home for me on many levels concerning visceral fat & chronic inflammation, extended fasting (3 days is my go-to), and sprinting (in Army Basic Training, to improve our long running speed, we would do 60/120's - 60 second sprint, 120 seconds walk; 60 second sprint, 120 walk....repeat...etc....). Start out 'sprinting' with slower acceleration & then build speed after a couple weeks...you DON'T want to strain a hammy...😮

Supplement with iodine. Very common deficiency, not high in meat, if it's not reared in a coastal region. I was told by an endocrinologist my free T3 was normal even though it was lowest end of normal and they didn't check reverse T3 to see what was unavailable. And despite multiple hypothyroid symptoms - feeling freezing cold all the time, slow pulse, low BP, sudden blood pressure crashing, dry skin, dry hair, dry eyes and mouth, loss of outer third of eyebrows. I saw a functional Dr (who actually got me into carnivore) he said the ranges are too wide and endocrinologists dont take into account symptoms which is a terrible approach to disease, as hypothyroid is a risk factor for heart disease, weight gain diabetes and maternal hypothyroidism a risk for cretinism in unborn babies. Everything is slowed down and malfunctioning. He said I had subclinical hypothyroidism and he organised a 24hr urine test which showed iodine deficiency - despite eating 100g cod every day for months. He said that just getting the RDA in cod wasnt enough to resolve the deficiency, I needed much higher dose and I now supplement approx 1.5mg lugols iodine daily and most symptoms have alleviated significantly or fully resolved. It's important to also have good all-round nutrient levels if supplementing high dose iodine, especially selenium, magnesium, vitamin C which are co factors to prevent imbalance when increasing iodine intake. I eat 50g of lamb or beef liver daily, plus eggs, red meat, and I do supplement magnesium 600mg and 250mg vitamin C, as Mg & vit C aren't particularly high in meat. Also important not to take too high a dose of iodine as it will cause toxic symptoms and possibly hyperthyroid state. 1.5mg - 3mg is what the Japanese have naturally due to seaweed in their diet. I've seen 15mg dose mentioned by the likes of Dr David Brownstein, but this research was shown to be incorrect as they took the dry weight of seaweed not the wet weight.

I’m not sure it’s one size fits all but for sure, taking ownership of body and adjusting till results are in the statistics is the way to go. So many practitioners contradict each other, one has to try not like a cult but mindfully… to find the right balance. I started a journal when I began intermittent fasting and low carb… but the tussle of medical opinion about fibre… I am still studying how my body responds with and without.

I was determined not to by new clothes yet turning to vegetarian/vegan was only causing me to gain more weight. Thanks to running across Steak & Butter Gal, Dr. Berry, and Dr Chaffee, I lost 15 lbs which may not seem like much but has made a world of difference in my energy and no more menopausal symptoms, especially hot flashes. Hello Drs Berry and O'Mara! I want to thank you both for all the great training, information and advice. I have recently added sprinting into my exercise regimen, and have also started a much higher fat eating regimen usually of adding upmto 2 sticks of butter each day. My visceral fat is falling off faster than the last 14 months of carnivore. I use butter to fight distraction eating ( we have a rack full of cookies and candies at work). I am 61. I used to sprint a lot when I was young. And for a while when my kids were in their ball and soccer days, but over the last 15 years those kinds of activities kind of dissipated.
Now, at 61 I am regaining my healrh after 12-15 years of horrid problems. Last problem working on is fatigue. Added iodine which was a miracle for toenails, and added other mineral metals and zinc for skin. Otherwise, lots of steak every day (5-6 days a week generally), eggs, butter, bacon, and sour cream. I also added whole fat lactose free kefir and sauerkraut which I have always loved.
Thanks to both of you, I think i will live a much better life.

At 58 years of age, after being vegetarian for about 6 years I tried carnivore for 1 1/2 years. I didn't do it to lose weight as I was already fit also had been doing intermittent fasting for about 5 years. I did initially lose 5lbs though, water weight obviously. I had been having chronic pain that did immediately go away and my vision also improved, (proof with before and after eye exams). After about a year, I gained the 5 lbs back without a change in diet. I've always had AMAZING sleep but on carnivore it was interrupted, I'd wake up about 4 hours after falling asleep and wouldn't be able to get back to sleep. I had a small belly protrusion that I had never had in my life, always had a flat stomach. I did a hormone test and found that my cortisol levels were too high in the morning and again at bedtime, hence the interruption in sleep. I added fruit back in to my diet and also raw milk and my sleep went back to normal as did eventually my cortisol levels. Strict carnivore is NOT for everyone. I've seen others in carnivore groups have the exact same issues I did. Also, adding fruit back in did not make me "crave" carbs. There's just no "one size fits all" way of doing ANYTHING in life. I'm grateful I'm no longer vegetarian because I do believe that was causing any health issues I was having prior to trying carnivore.

Reluctant to do carnivore. I've cut way back on many foods/ carbs n seed oils. now lowering dairy to see what happens. I think some veggies n fruits are fine. I was an elite certified personal trainer in the L.A. market for over a decade and I have never heard this perspective put so well about HIIT vs sustained cardio. This info is GROUNDBREAKING. Wow, thanks for sharing.

I grew up with three sisters and all of them had flat stomachs. But all my life I had a fat donut around my navel. Even as a teenager weighing 127 lbs at 5’7”. I was active. I swam, skated, played sports and ran. We didn’t have video games then and were always outside being very active. But that fat donut around my navel never went away. And with each of my pregnancies it hung lower. Now I have a fat apron. And years of being sick and exhausted raising special needs twins alone almost ended me. I’m finally getting better but am struggling. I want to do the carnivore lifestyle but am struggling to get started. Watching your videos is helping me so much. Thank you.

I’m 73 and on day 5 of Carnivore , my third attempt. This time I’m eliminating my coffee w cream and t of sugar.
The egg butter latte is really how I was able to give it up. I’m a knitter so excercise these days are minimal. I’ll start working on that!

Day 12 and so far very well. I’ve added heavy cream 1/2cup w my immersion blender if I feel need for “desert”. I also started walking which is uncomfortable After 20 min so I stop and will continue to increase my time. My joints are just so locked up. Eating otherwise is only beef, chicken, lamb, eggs, butter and bacon. It’s not been that difficult really and the bathroom runs are minimizing too(😅). Thanks for asking

Try chair exercises for 5 minutes than try walking for a short time in your house just 30 seconds at a time. Increase little by little. See how that works
