I got subscribed Medikinet Adult (Methylfenidate). Now this stuff DOES NOT work with me at all. I drives me crazy. Now it seems I might have Hypersensitivity and not ADD. But I tend to think I have both...
Drug holidays reduce tolerance to a medication by removing the substance from the bloodstream. Most Stimulants clear out from the body(undetectable in urine)in 72-96 hours, 3-4 days. If you’re using low dose-5mg once a day, you won’t notice withdrawal symptoms. Which is great!. Stay on lowest effective doses. Its just far safer and effective. If you do increase dose, don’t blast yourself by taking massive doses.
Not sure if you're still reading those, but i have a question: what would you recommend, if your country did not have, say, amphetamine available and the medics use *only* methylphenidate, considering that you almost never felt a substantial improvement while taking methylphenidate? That's my exact situation. It feels like there's no option for me, because i am on a maximum dosage (Concerta 54mg).
Thank you very much for your reply, @@nimakhodayi3494! Luckily, they do have atomoxetine here! Would you mind elaborating a bit on why do you think it might be worth trying? If you don't feel like it, please feel free to say no, or contact me privately ♡
I gave up my Vyvanse 6 months ago. I had chronic anxiety until quite recently. Intense physical exercise has helped enormously. Also no processed sugar or alcohol and some yoga. I’m almost at the point I was on the meds as far as my ability to focus and concentrate. Calling friends is important too.
Yes I believe add folks are very sensitive to refined stuff. I know personally I function best on no sugar no flour no processed snacks no coffee or one a day Max and high vegetable and fruit and protein diets. Including red meat. Knowing this and doing this are of course diff things.
The gym is the best I find. Walking is good but intense physical exercise completely changes the way I see the world. Elvanse has left me with a bit of an anxiety issue and issues around my executive function, but that’s just me.
@@julesgiddings8747 yeah I’d love to do intense. But I literally have never had the motivation or just general capacity to get it done consistently. I’m glad you’re managing though
I’ve taken a drug holiday from my adderall xr and let me tell you it was miserable. Ignore the withdrawal- that’s integral to the “holiday”- the inability to function on a very basic human level takes a toll on the psyche faster than you’d think. The withdrawal was a cakewalk by comparison
Yeah when I stopped for a week I couldnt do almost anything. Task like cleaning my room , clening my cats litter and washing dishes were easier to grind through but everything related to school was a nightmare.
I've actually pretty systematically studied this in myself. I take pretty frequent breaks from my medication, adderall. For a while I would feel pretty much useless and unable to get engaged in anything for about... 2 weeks. I started running regularly about a year and a half ago. I've noticed that when I take a break now, the period of feeling low-key depressed has shortened proportionally to the duration and intensity of my run. For me, the ideal is 7 or so miles per hour, for 30-40 minutes. I'm usually feeling basically myself again in 3-4 days. I actually haven't had to increase my dosage from the starting dosage because when I start to notice the effects blunting, I take a week or two off. Of course, I am significantly less productive on those off weeks, but it's the best balance I've been able to strike so far.
When you do take your medication, do you take it everyday? I'm doing about 4 days a week on, 3 days off or so, instead of doing more extended on- and off cycles. Hoping it will work long term to not reduce efficacy of the meds over time.

I don’t drink any caffeine on the days I take my medication. I also eat before I take it and force myself to have a healthy meal a couple hours after I take it. It seems to kick in better that way
It's so irritating I used to be able to concentrate on 20 mg and feel the euphoric feeling and now I'm having like 50 mg and I feel nothing but an increase in irritation and heart beat
Great videos. It's good to point also that "not feeling" doesn't mean the medicine lost if effect or your body became tolerant. Impairment is what you should use to measure it.
Thanks so much for this! I’ve only been on my meds for 3months (though I take it every day) and in the last two weeks, I’ve been struggling with staying focused and feel like I’m slipping back to my old self which is causing all sorts of anxiety 😥 I’ll try and take a week off work and have a medication break to see if that helps. Thanks for the advice!
I’m the same, I’m on the highest dose as well, although my doctor wants to increase it, she said I am on the highest dose but they can add another pill to increase the dose, but I said I want to try without increasing for a bit longer, but things don’t seem to be getting any better, yet they were brilliant at first 🤷🏽♀️. How are you getting on now?
I've taken the 3 of the most popular ADHD medication. methylphenidate, adderall and vyvanse. I found that Adderall was out of my league, it made me feel like I had OCD (I dont) and I could only do 1 thing at a time without stopping to eat or sleep. Vyvanse we more calm, made me feel like I did not have ADHD, I could work on a task for hours straight at finish it without having to restart if I did not like is 100%. Methylphenidate worked the best for me, I felt human, ADHD was no longer a major issue, I could focus on a task and still take breaks to sleep, eat and etc. Methylphenidate worked for th best for me and so far after 3 years I dont have a dependence for it, yes I could go without it and my ADHD would come right back but I dont feel 'addicted' or a constant need for it.
@@Mustis1524 I have noticed that over time you need more but if you take a week off of medication (Can be very tough or easy) your tolerance goes back down, I don this about once every 2 months
Magnesium magnesium magnesium! I’m on a low dose of adderall xr & found that anxiety had completely outpaced the effectiveness of it. Started supplementing magnesium at 300 mg a day and focus has returned while sleep and anxiety are also greatly improving.
Really? We must be alike! I'd love to do that and I have thought about it before, but I'm not sure where or how I'd begin though... Need more subs too!
Dopamine in high levels for prolonged periods of time is neurotoxic, the dopamine receptors will down regulate to stop the brain from damaging itself. Drug brakes we should all take them, if you can manage to take 2-3 days a week off this is ideal , but those 4-5 days will be a lot more productive
I hate days where you wait all morning for it to kick in and ends up being very weak or no effect at all. Then i turn to caffeine, which I hate doing all the time
What's worse is that I can not drink more than one or two cups of coffee in combination with Adderall or I get heart palpitations and become very miserable.
You can try 45mg to 60mg of Dextromethorphan HBr a day with the ADHD medication. Like 60mg of Dextromethorphan HBr with 37.5mg to 75mg of Adipex for ADHD.
Please don't stop these great videos because your prospective is so practical because you talking from and ADHD experience with medication and without medication unlike when doctors have to hear what ADHD have to say then they will analyse what's the next action move they should do in order to manage ADHD medications
This makes a lot of sense. A couple years ago I would eat edibles and at first 10 MG of THC would be pretty intense but over time I would build a tolerance to it and it took more and more to get the satisfaction. Once I'd quit for a few weeks my tolerance would go away and it started over. I'm trying not to become dependant on my meds by taking a day off or something like that.
I see you’ve got quite a few videos about medication, this is an interesting part of it even as I’m just about to start trying one for the first time (just diagnosed at 42, already took 3 years to be confirmed). Useful info indeed.
I'm now 12 days med free but need it now for work. Don't know whether to push through and survive without meds for a month or decide to see if I've stabilised and take a small dose. But great video regardless, well done.
Eating properly and hydration are key as is getting enough solid sleep and exercise. If any of the mentioned things are unbalanced it can make it seem as though the medications are less effective or not working at all. That being said there is a certain amount of medication in each class of stimulant that have what's called getting out of the therapeutic window and causing a zombie like feeling or state or a hyperactive rambling state. So I have been on ADHD medication for over 20 years and I now take 60mgs daily of Adderall (2 x 30mg Adderall IR per day). I also take things like omega essential oils that are prescribed and Vitamin D. I also make sure to get enough Vitamin C though not with in an hour of taken the medications as this can cause it to not absorb properly in your stomach. Lack of enough Vitamin C can cause worse symptoms even at high dosages of the medications. I think dialing back your meds for a while or even taking off days that you absolutely do not have to be your best is rather helpful as well.
This is really good advice thank you I'm going to take a note out of your book and keep all those things in mind when I level off and find my ground with elvanse (vyvance) I take magnesium, vitamin d, and omega3 in the morning with food and 30 mins before i take my elvanse. I then try to do my daily walk while my Elvanse is kicking in so I dont feel like a zombie, it makes the drug kicking In much more effective and gets me going for the day. Once I've found the right amount for me I will try brakes if I feel it not working, im only on week 2 and on 50mg, next week they are putting me on 70mg so I'll see how that goes and hopefully find a level that's good for me. 😊

I was just diagnosed with ADHD and was prescribed 18mg of Concerta. 1st day, I felt a very calming sensation that let me focus on one thing and not get frustrated and overwhelmed. Day 2, I didn't feel anything at all. My doctor told me to bump it up to 18mg in the morning and another 18mg around lunch. Felt a few hours of calm and then nothing. The first night I slept the entire night for the first time in years. Ever since then I wake up a few times but do feel like I get back to sleep a bit easier. It's now been 7 days, and I don't feel anything at all. Before I was receiving medication, I used to drink a TON of caffeine (soft drinks). As soon as I was on Concerta, I didn't crave caffeine. I messaged my doctor about my Concerta script, feeling like it isn't doing anything. I'm baffled on how the first day had such good results, but they diminished so quickly, even when the dose was doubled. Honestly, it makes me scared that I won't find any relief. 😢
🔹Always have at least 24 hour time gap between your doses 🔹Supplement with L-Thyrosine & Magnesium 🔹Have a good night sleep 💤 🔹Make sure you’re eating well , regularly and enough protein Those are the best tips from my experience to never build tolerance , I have been using only 5 mg per day and never increased my dose for 2 years. ✔️☺️
Just wondering, which drug are you taking? Recently diagnosed at 48 and started Ritalin (methylphenidate) a few weeks ago. Still working on finding the right dosage and type of drug (immediate vs extended release) but so far I think 5mg per day of immediate release worked best for me - helped with my ADHD and side effects were minimal. The higher doses are giving me a lot of anxiety and also feeling a little more out of it. Feel like 5mg is too little to be effective long term so interesting to see that's what you have taken for the past 2 years.
I’m on my first week on meds ever as I was just diagnosed. The first two day I was crazily productive. On my 3rd and 4th day I did an normal amount of tasks. I’m on my 6th day and I have no motivation at all to do anything and my appetite was increased
My doctor told me take my meds (Concerta 54 mg.) from mondays to fridays, the adhd symptoms returned strongly the weekends so I started to take it all days, around a month I started to feel the effects going down so I going back to the of free meds weekends and I feel good again at work.
The withdrawal symptoms aren’t just feelings of anxiety it’s full body pain you cannot get out of bed. Well you can it’s just gonna be painful. I try to take days off of it, but I go back to my medication every single time.
Hey.. my care plan has Drug holidays in it. I didn’t know this was a real thing but it is. I asked my dr if I could take breaks at weekends and over half term holidays. As I work at a school I don’t need to be on it all the time. So my Dr told me about Drug Holidays.. ✌️✊🏻✌️✊🏻✌️ So this works great for me 👌
Thank you for making this video! I have been dealing with tolerance issues for the last two years out of the three that I've been diagnosed and on medication. My doctor doesn't believe me. Such a sucky position to be in where your meds aren't working but there isn't any advice to proceed forward.
Thanks for the video bro. I’m gonna use streteria for a month to reset my tolerance. I don’t ever wanna take anything stronger than 5 mg. The people on my support group on Facebook are taking 120 MG A DAY WTF
I've just watched a video on medication dosage and in especially long release meds if your dosage is to high it will kick in later and last less time and may cause ups and downs during the day. Basically to get dosage right it should take affect within its specified time and last it specified time, if it not enough of a change with those rules in place then a different medication should be added or changed all together.
Good quality of sleep has good effectiveness on maintaing your dopamine levels, as well a good diet without refined sugars and fat. Some exercises like yoga have prooved effectiveness on rasing basal dopamine levels
Now I've been off ADHD medicine for quite a long time (I want to get back on it), but I would honestly recommend talking to your doctor before starting anything like this. Now in saying that, I know I was off my medication (when I was on it) during the weekends and summer break- I took it throughout my school career. All I really know is my parents had made me take it during the school week, I did not have to take it during the weekends, and I started taking it again a few weeks before school started (I think).

This is why I experimented with micro-dosing concertaXL. I learnt how the capsule was constructed, then carefully took them apart. For each capsule, I kept the shell, as the outer shell contains 20% of the drug. Then the pale inner parts contain the drug, and the grey weird part has no drug, it’s just an osmotic expander that’s meant to push the pale part out gradually thru the day. I then put the shell bits in foil, and the crumbled up pale drug part in foil. I can make an 18 mg or 27mg Concerta last 7 days, but just taking a tiny amount of crumbled drug when appropriate. Or half the shell as a dose. This has helped me greatly, as I’m an ultra sensitive person too. And I don’t want to become resistant or damage my brains own neurotransmitter system. Next time I get pills I’m going to explain I don’t want the timed release as I like control over dosing it. I also have a digestive system that doesn’t work properly cuz also have an autoimmune disability too... But it’s really helped!!! I don’t get a downer thing either. ps- don’t copy me lol. Never take an entire dose of a timed release MPH/AMT at once out of its special osmotic push capsule!!! I micro-dose!
Would this dismantling method work with Ritalin LA? It's a fake Long Acting capsule but this is the only available and the regular IR. I would like to make it extended because the crashes after are horrible. Caffeine helped so far to mitigate but it i dont think it's recommended to take it with this simultaneously or after..
I honestly cannot believe you’re encouraging people to deconstruct the osmotic release of Concerta and ‘micro-dose’ the inner contents. If you want more control over your dosing, why not try Ritalin? With all due respect you have no idea how much of the drug you’re taking as you might just be swallowing a whole bunch of filler. Please don’t proliferate this kind of practice on social media, you seem to have little to no concept of the fact that these drugs can be given to younger children who would see this comment and start deconstructing their tablets. There’s a reason it says ‘do not chew, swallow whole’ on timed release medications.
I'm starting to truly believe all ADHD medications are FAR from perfect, and are not long term solutions. I have been seeing a cognitive behavioural therapist who specializes in treating ADHD and that has helped me so much more than Concerta and Strattera.
@@RadekPilich My cbt therapist specializes in ADHD, at every appointment she draws up homework routines that target ADHD related behaviours and thought patterns. For example, and I'm paraphrasing loosely here, but people with ADHD are extremely prone to low self esteem and depression because of the repeated failures and setbacks due to their symptoms. Through CBT, we develop new routines and and ways to set goals and progress tracking methods that help making progress much easier and organized. I suppose the short answer is, people with ADHD struggle with following through with things and attaining their goals, despite being talented in some areas, and this causes them to develop a negative self image. Through the restructuring of ones habits and approaches to daily life, goals become completed, and self image improves. It's done a lot for me.
John Laurus sleeping pattern readjustment is like quitting smoking, the first three to four days are horrible but you need to stick it out.set your alarm for 8 am or a sensible time, and then regardless of how little sleep you get, even if it’s 2 hours, even if it’s nothing, you need to get up and start your day. After a week you will begin to adjust. Procrastination has a lot to do with you thinking a task is too big to start right away, but it’s worth looking into a CBT consultation for that
@@adambrydges1040 This is good news for me. I actually booked my CBT preliminary consultation for next week and hope it brings me as much joy as it has yourself.

I started with vyvanse 30mg, in 6 months i landed on 70mg (max legal dosage in my country). But here's what's interesting. I haven't gotten completely used to that dosage even after 3 years. And i don't drink coffee... I used to drink coffee, but i stopped because coffee somehow boosts the effect of vyvanse to an uncomfortable level. On top of not drinking coffee, i regularly have pauses in taking my meds. About every 2nd weekend i don't take meds, during the semester i don't take meds that much either.
I started on vyvanse at 20 mg, felt great. Then i needed 40. Now 40 doesnt make me feel great, i feel normal on it, but i still have all the side effects, and im addicted to it. I decided to lower the dose, and l will probably lower it more, because the alternative is raise the dose and then become tolerant to that until i reach the highest dose. I miss the euphoria and motivation from when i first started taking it, but i cant achieve that long term no matter what dose i take, so its like, why bother? Im just gonna go to the lowest dose and kiss the euphoria goodbye. It still has therapeutic effects, but after a while you just adapt to it and you feel normal on it, not high.

The one thing that really helps me with this medication as well is I walk while it's getting into my system as I have seen a little agitation in me as it goes it's getting settled in my body. I guess we are we are all different and it's about finding the right balance that works for you, it all depends on what you want from the outcome.
I take L-Theanine with caffeine and I was able to replace it with atomoxetine. Later on I got put on Methylphenidate and they were good enough. L theanine and even Bacopa/Ashwagandha reset my system and works on drug holidays... Which for me is weekends when I don't work much as such
Aerobics can increase your basal dopamine rate, any drug that creates peaks of dopamine will influence in dopamine sensitivity and will need higher doses. Sometimes even switching drugs can not have a effective increase of effects because they work on dopamine levels too. Med dose decreasing is a good way to rebalance your dopamine receptors without having the withdrawl effects. Each brain have a different time to achieve the initial balance of receptors, sometimes months without the meds. So, aerobics is a good way tô treat adhd. And no caffeine.
Im gonna try this, thank u. I have been using Adderall with coffee two days in a row and I dont feel like its kicking that much. I thought that combination will help but it counter it hehe, im gonna try it tomorrow.
I think I might have to take up a career which allows me to use my ADHD to my advantage. I had bad reacts to ADHD medication as a child and I want to see a doctor again so they can test how my ADHD is doing then they can prescribe me medications and I can see if I can have a better reaction to them. If I have bad reactions to them now, before I enter college, then I might have to re-think my life. I need something that works with my ADHD or I know my life will be filled with anxiety, hatred, and sadness.
my body metabolizes any drug very efficiently, and i’m not happy about it. i take the highest possible dosage of a mood stabilizer and an antipsychotic for bipolar, but the concentration of meds in my blood hardly reaches the therapeutic dose. with concerta, it's even worse - i don’t feel the proper effect, and i’m on 112 mg already. it’s been 4 months since i started taking it. i desperately need it to work because my job requires high focus 😪
Came back to Concerta after a three years break. A few weeks later 54mg pills are basically a placebo for me, which is impressive considering the effects it used to have. It seems to me coffee has lost its effectiveness as well, I don't know if it's related. In any case life is a big messy blur of chatters and distraction again haha.
I love your videos but unfortunately the background music makes it difficult for me to follow the content. It seems almost impossible nowadays to find informative videos - on any topic - that do not have background music. I had to pause the video to write this comment - but I am very interested in the content.

My 10 mg adderall tabs stopped working after a week... I cant raise my dosage until the 24th so I am pretty upset. I tried taking a tolerance break this weekend and the withdrawal was just AWFUL.. That didnt even do anything to help either.. So basically I have to take it just to feel normal..
My brutally honest opinion any medication that creates a tolerance is a drug and when I mean drug I mean drug of abuse I’ve never gotten used to a necessary dose and head to increase it I’ve never taken a fish oil and felt the need to take more but with Xanax but with Adderall but with oxycodone and I will not continue talking anymore you get the point

I just started on Vyvanse at 20mg. The first thing I noticed was that my mind didn’t feel like it was going 1,000 miles an hour. For the first time in my life, I felt like I was just “in the moment” and my anxiety decreased. I still was easily distracted and impulsive, and still forgetting things. So I wonder if the dose is too low, after 5 hours I felt really tired. Is that normal? I don’t really know what to look for... or even what to expect. Like... what is normal? 😅☺️
I am sooooo tolerant of adderrall. Ive been on 60 mg a day for years but i can take 120 + mg and still have no stimulant effect. It doea nothing. I can take as much as 120+ and have a coffee and still be tired or go to sleep even after an 8- 10 hour sleep night. So why do i still take it? I dont know. Maybe i get even more tired? Or maybe its a placebo effect type thing. Id like to take weekends off but i just don't. I just take my roommates because he doesn't take his anymore. He gets 60 mg a day too and i will run out of both rx's before my next appt. And yet, i remain a tired, lazy procrastinator. I know i should try a different medication but it seems everyone says Adderall is the strongest so how would that help me at all?
Hi Becca! Everyones brain is wired differently, so you can maybe check other methylphenidate meds. I take medikinet and upped from 10 to 30 and it was a massive change. 120+mg adderral with coffee and you can sleep?? Omg so many it would be non stop orgasms and sex all night!🤣
So would you recommend quitting nicotine/caffeine if you take adhd meds like concerta or adderall? Can they reduce the full effects of the drug when taken with it?
I'd say cutting it out is smart move. Technically, yes they can down regulate the receptors at a faster rate if you take those on top of the meds but depends on how much you have a day and genetic sensitivity. I try to limit it.
Can you build up a tolerance while taking non stimulant medication? I just started on Straterra 3 weeks ago when I got diagnosed with ADHD and it doesn't seem to be working even with a dosage increase. I know that doesn't mean I have built a tolerance for it as it has never worked for me from the beginning. I'm just wondering as I'm new to the ADHD world 😄
Calcium carbonate (Tums) supposedly increases absorbtion. I've been popping/chewing, whatever a Tums with my daily dose and it seems like it works a bit better. Just putting this out there... 🤨🤨🤨
Tolerance to stimulants is not very common. Often during puberty, the dosage of the medication needs to be adjusted, but that's not really tolerance. When there is a reduction in efficacy, it is usually not necessary to switch to a different medication. Increasing the dosage often does the trick. 18 mg of Concerta is a very small dosage. I've treat many patients who require up to 72 mg of Concerta.
@@michellefrancine9153 hey, did you manage to change your medication to something that's started to work? I've gone through 30-50-70mg and none of the doses have any positive effect on me whatsoever. No feeling of euphoria but after about 3-4 hours anxiety sets in which leads to suicidal depression, then I have to wait another 3-4 hours for the depression to fuck off and then I go to bed. This is the first medication I've tried for my ADHD, am I right to be losing hope of finding one that works? Thanks 👍
Jonny K - UK I got diagnosed with ADHD in December 2019 and ever since then it’s been a journey with meds. But, yes! And vyvanse never worked for me at all. what helps increase the absorption of amphetamine salts 30 xr? somebody told me to open capsule and crush the beads thus absorbing faster ? what is your take
Taking care of health in general is certainly important. I’m currently on 54 mg which is a high dose I feel, but I’ve never felt like I’ve developed the kind of ”tolerance” where it just stops having an effect. I wont be as motivated or alert every day but I think it has to do with precisely everything BUT the medication, which is why I need to keep in mind that the pills are never going to be something that alone will ”save” me. If I’m at a ”lower place” mentally one day, the pill will still ”lift me out” of it to an extent, but it wont be the same as if I was in a better place. Does that make sense? In short: I think the effect of the pill is the same every day (basically), but since my starting point varies from day to day, so does the point I end up at after taking the pill. If I feel low, the pill might help some but not enough. If I feel ok, the pill might get me over the edge where I actually feel pretty good and productive. I do have to say, the crash you get on 54 mg is scary and uncomfortable… and it’s something I have to deal with every time. Even now, while being on it and thus ”safe”, I’m thinking about what will happen when I come down in a couple of hours… I haven’t figured out how to properly deal with it and my mind goes a bit crazy. It’s like a minor existential crisis every day… I just try to stay focused on long term goals so I have some kind of a stable foundation to fall back on, when I’m having a bad moment or day.
Wow that doesn't sound good at all I'm sorry for you. Im on 20mg. One time i took 25 and the crash was horrible i can only imagine what coming down from 54 must feel like
Are you currently experiencing tolerance to your meds? What are you doing to counteract this? Let me know!
@@zoosktrain1969 how many days per week ?i currently have tolerance to it
I got subscribed Medikinet Adult (Methylfenidate).
Not sure if you're still reading those, but i have a question:
what would you recommend, if your country did not have, say, amphetamine available and the medics use *only* methylphenidate, considering that you almost never felt a substantial improvement while taking methylphenidate?
That's my exact situation.
It feels like there's no option for me, because i am on a maximum dosage (Concerta 54mg).
Thank you very much for your reply, @@nimakhodayi3494!

Thank you for sharing this!
Yes I believe add folks are very sensitive to refined stuff. I know personally I function best on no sugar no flour no processed snacks no coffee or one a day Max and high vegetable and fruit and protein diets. Including red meat. Knowing this and doing this are of course diff things.
And min three miles walking per day. Six days a week.
Yeah days off when taking adderal were brutal. Worse than not being medicated. That always worried me. Vyvanse doesn't do that luckily
Yes. I went through hell coming off of Adderall XR.
@@gersonencarnacion3744 That's why you take breaks when you're having breaks from school
@@thiagogregory1 It wasnt a voluntary break , there was shortage of Medication at the time so I had no choice

Thanks so much for this!

Dopamine in high levels for prolonged periods of time is neurotoxic, the dopamine receptors will down regulate to stop the brain from damaging itself.

Adderall are easy to build tolerance to, but the way I do it I'll take a dose every 4 days and it always gives me the stimulating and focus i need.
Insane how mang people have zero understanding of drug tolerance... like no duh... obviously
That was very informative but I particularly enjoyed the intro & the drug holiday bits.

Finally the only useful information I've found on this
I was just diagnosed with ADHD and was prescribed 18mg of Concerta. 😢
🔹Always have at least 24 hour time gap between your doses
🔹Supplement with L-Thyrosine & Magnesium
🔹Have a good night sleep 💤
🔹Make sure you’re eating well , regularly and enough protein
Those are the best tips from my experience to never build tolerance , I have been using only 5 mg per day and never increased my dose for 2 years. ✔️☺️
you dont have adhd
Just wondering, which drug are you taking? Recently diagnosed at 48 and started Ritalin (methylphenidate) a few weeks ago. Still working on finding the right dosage and type of drug (immediate vs extended release) but so far I think 5mg per day of immediate release worked best for me - helped with my ADHD and side effects were minimal. The higher doses are giving me a lot of anxiety and also feeling a little more out of it. Feel like 5mg is too little to be effective long term so interesting to see that's what you have taken for the past 2 years.
And dont take it everyday. There is literally no drug on earth you wont build a tolerance or addiction to if you take it every day.
GREAT INFO....especially for a newbie like me. THANK YOU! 😊

Now in saying that, I know I was off my medication (when I was on it) during the weekends and summer break- I took it throughout my school career.
Why not just get a prescription for standard Ritalin. It’s exactly the thing your trying to create
I'm starting to truly believe all ADHD medications are FAR from perfect, and are not long term solutions. I have been seeing a cognitive behavioural therapist who specializes in treating ADHD and that has helped me so much more than Concerta and Strattera.
Any examples of what the CBT has done for you?

Yep, what i found is to do a 3 days break every 30 days.
This is my worry all the medication means is just tolerance and increased dosages until I hit the max dosage.
Started adderall xr about a week ago and it stopped working after a week or so. It sucks
Be sure to talk with your doctor before doing this. Some can't be stopped abruptly.
I’m on 56mg and it doesn’t even feel like it’s on a back burner I’m not even abusing it either so strange
2022 and there has just been 1 recent study on this. Interesting. Same thing we all know.
Quit sugar use virgin coconut oil and one coffee in the morning just to get started I seem to be doing ok.

I love your videos but unfortunately the background music makes it difficult for me to follow the content. It seems almost impossible nowadays to find informative videos - on any topic - that do not have background music. It's the same in shops: everywhere I go, my brain has to struggle to shut out the background music. It's exhausting. I had to pause the video to write this comment - but I am very interested in the content.
my mom wants me to start taking a break this summer for the meds bc i’ve been taking them for about 7 years and she says it’s time to take a break this summer but i feel as though like you said i can’t function 😖
Elizabeth diamond. Don’t listen to your mom listen to your doctor.
And yourself
@@benjaminroos9455 Dont trust the doctor!!!
Trust yourself. If you need it use it. You might feel like you can’t function because that’s what adhd feels like. That’s why you are medicated.
yolo siwa thank you
Nice vid
Psychologist said it's up to my dr. If I get meds. I know I did terrible on the test. I told him I just want to try meds to see if it helps. He said it would even help him if he took it. Then said it's up to your dr. Who referred you.
Like because of the Down T shirt! And great content of course
🤘
I taking elvanse 50mg for 2 weeks and now its seems that it dont do it like in the first days i go now from 50mg to 70mg to see if i gonna see results
Stimulants are the worst medication I've ever took. All they gave me was anxiety. So glad im on a non stimulants.
Whatcha taking
@@edwardhisse2687 I'm now on atomoxatine 10 MG daily
@@mackemcabbieI Am On 80MG ATM + MPH 20MG OD
not adhd then?
Did experience any side effects?? Like Ahnedonia?? ED?? Not being able to cry, or feel tired??
I have found Ritalin worked quickly and effectively. Concerta did nothing for me at all.
Can vitamins be a solution if you dont have a tolerance to the medication?
Only been on 28 mg for about 2 months and dude I'm starting to get my symptoms to come back .. what shall I tell my doctor how do I tell her I feel it's not doing at much ??
I'd ask for an increase in your dosage for now, you'll find you'll need to taper up as it loses effectiveness
W0W! Never knew there's a name for it, I EVERY MONTH! take atleast 5-7 days off at the end of the month, So I WONT BE ADDICTED! Ive already been through Hell With Opioids, I dont need another thing messing with me! Med Holiday, I like it!
Which ADHD works good for Social Phobie ?
Use an online plug like liteflake. No cuts nothing. Most street dealers are super risky to deal with.
could u rotate stims and amphetamines throughout the week to avoid tolerance? like dexamphetamine 4 days a week and modafinil for the remainder of the week ?
I’m on the highest dosage allowed and I don’t feel shit anymore hhfhfhgk.
If coffee.... could cause that- I do have it every morning. Perhaps I should swap to water.
I do take drug holidays every weekend too... a whole mONTH tho...
Bro dont take this Shit everyday. Therapist are phoney's take the medication to neutralize you.
@Cesar Augusto really? I gotta try that. Been feeling like shit lately
@@100trash8 did you see any improvement because I’m considering doing the same thing
@Cesar Augusto Im gonna try this, thank u. I have been using Adderall with coffee two days in a row and I dont feel like its kicking that much. I thought that combination will help but it counter it hehe, im gonna try it tomorrow.
Same thing for me but after a while the down part goes away.
It's quite low
Is it usual to take 15 mg ritalin instant release and feel a bit more energised and calm but still not really able to concentrate ?
I don't have experience with Ritalin but it's common apparently. You might want to ask your doctor to tweak your dose.
I take adderall and every once in a while it feels like it doesn’t work
By any chance do you know if this will happen gradually or suddenly?
Happens gradually but you won’t notice it
90mg Xenidate XL stopped working after 6 months. Increasing gradually to see if that helps
Have you ever tried any of the following supplements: Choline, Ashwagandha, Rhodiola rosea, Ginseng? If you have, to what effect?
Ginseng, minimal effect, more like placebo.
Let’s say you take ADD meds 2-3times a week. How frequently should you take a drug holiday and how long should the duration of holiday be?
I was under the impression that nicotine works primarily on the acetylcholine transmission, no?
Which Nootropics do you recommend??
I love your videos but the music in the background is so distracting!

I'm just wondering as I'm new to the ADHD world 😄
Strattera (Atomoxetine) Takes 6to8 Weeks to see Improvement 😅👍
A proper drug holiday involves going to Ibiza!!!
Haha
True, 18mg is really low.
I just switched to Vyvanse 30mg and it doesnt work. The next day I tried 60mg to see if it works then. Still no.
Wow that's really unusual!
ADHD Management Today was the day I tried it and I feel it now. I’m guessing It’s just tolerance.
me too! i’ve been taking vyvance and it doesn’t work for me
@@michellefrancine9153 hey, did you manage to change your medication to something that's started to work?
I switched my medication to focalin and right now, I’m on a low dose. I have hope it just hasn’t really helped me yet. The only other meds that worked for me were adderall ( it had really bad side affects so I decided to come off ) and concerta.
how many mgs do u take
what helps increase the absorption of amphetamine salts 30 xr? somebody told me to open capsule and crush the beads thus absorbing faster ? what is your take
Never crush an extended release medicine.
@@rlink22 can u explain why.
Im on 20mg. One time i took 25 and the crash was horrible i can only imagine what coming down from 54 must feel like
Warning: check your Boon density while using ADD med !!
